This is one of my favorite songs. I heard Roy, Jr sing this a number of times when the Sons of the Pioneers were in Tucson. I'd play the song over and over again. What beautiful words.

He'll always be the King of the Cowboys. To a brave man, a Christian, loving father, great actor, amazing singer - you are missed.

Awesome video!! I'm 58 and have been a HUGE Roy Rogers fan since I was 4 years old. I actually had the privilege of meeting and spending time with him several years ago. He and Dale are true heroes and Christians.

Thank You this is a beautiful tribute as the singer is the person only fit to sing to sing this song for his dad. I have the tribute cd that has this song. I grew up loving Roy Rogers and Trigger. Yes he is and always will be a LEGEND to me.

I remember the bit with the wagon wheel, from 'The Paleface'. The "cowardly" (LOL!) character played by Bob Hope, loses the wheel off of his gas buggy. Roy lassoes the axle, then HANDS THE ROPE to Bob, who holds up the car while The King goes after the wheel. Bob says, "Hurry up, this is IMPOSSIBLE!" Two of the greatest men who ever graced the screen. I only wish I could have had the honor of shaking your hands.

Dusty, you're the luckiest guy alive. I was born at just the right time for your dad to make a real difference in the course of my life. I never missed your mom and dads' TV show and always had the sense that they knew me personally. Once, around 1956, I was presented with one PIP of an opportunity for mischief. I've gotten away with it and it wouldn't have done any real harm. But it'd have disappointed your dad, my hero. That stopped me, and has done so many times since. BETTER TRAILS!

@tmthord How right you are! And people question the truthfulness of that phrase today. If anyone has trouble understanding why we call it "the good old days" in spite of the lack of technology and modern conveniences, all they have to do is watch one of Roy's movies. Those were the days in which right never lost and wrong never won. How I long to return to that day! I would give up the modern conveniences in a heartbeat.

Always loved Roy, saw him in person when I was a kid and years later when he had the Roy Rogers fast food outlet. I had no idea that Dusty, R.R. Jr. was such a good singer.

I just LOVE that wide dismount of Roy's off Trigger trying to assist someone in need!! Man, WHAT A GUY!!! We are sooo blessed to have lived in his era! My Uncle Ray Gephart was a neighbor of Roy's in Apple Valley & they always waved at each other & one time Roy stopped & gave two 8x10 autographed photo's to Uncle Ray to give to my sister & me here in Nebraska!!

This is a beautiful tribute to Roy, who I don't hesitate to say was one of the greatest men of the 20th century. Roy, Dale, as well as the Lone Ranger, had the most influence on my life of anyone outside of my family. I had the privilege of corresponding with Dale after Roy passed. Her letters were filled with the same warmth and genuineness that she showed wherever she was. I love the fact that we have such easy access to Roy's movies. I cried when I learned of his death; and I don't cry about much. I miss Roy and Dale very much. I look forward to being with them and so many others soon!

I was so blessed to be able to visit the museum in Victorville, Ca. I was there for hours. I heard this song by Dusty. I just melted .....I found one c d with this song on it.....I put on many, many miles while listening to this cd in my truck. The long nights driving didn't seem so long anymore.....So sorry that the museum had to close. It was my favorite place to stop.........Miss Y'all...

Hi! The last clip is from a Roy & Dale bio feature on the "Happy Trails Theatre" DVDs. I don't think it really has a name. I just uploaded it for you, so you can watch it. It is about 23min long. Really a nice bio. It has a bunch of home movie clips and interviews with several of their children. Enjoy!

If you made this video as I suspect you did, can you please tell me where you got the last clip? I believe it is labeled number 50 on your list. I know I have seen that exact clip before in a short TH-cam video. It is part of a biographical video about Roy, correct? I would love to see the entire thing, but I haven't the slightest idea what it's called or where to find it. Thanks for your time!
