What white fox has done with season 3 is absolutely beyond peak as expected after all white fox is one of the most remarkable studio in the industry, but season 1's direction, artstyle, visuals, coloring, character design, cinematography and just the overall adaptation are on a whole other level. like season 1 seriously looked just so good in every scene like when subaru first met emilia the scene portrayed emilia under the bright beautifully colored sun light and subaru under the dark shade like that cinematography was just something else, it had such a unique feeling I feel like seeing it yourself again shows that much better than words. I hope white fox will replicate that style again in some future season/arc. with that being said the season 3 character designs are really good and ofc a massive improvement from season 2 and I understand they couldn't have such detailed and stunning character designs like season 1 in season 3 considering how action packed this season is and animating all this action in such a high quality artstyle would have been probably taken a really long time for the animators considering how small of a studio white fox actually is.

I like how Subaru turned into Indiana Jones with his whip. Also Sirius had the same experience as nearly every female character in Re:Zero: is in love with a dude who only cares about a silver haired witch.

Emilia pleasantly surprised me with this fight; not just in terms of raw power, though we already knew she had that, but in terms of skill and creativity. She didn't just hurl ice spikes around; she made weapons out of ice to engage Sirius in hand-to-hand combat.
Emilia really had Sirius on the ropes, and if not for the latter cheating with the Hostage, could very well have removed a Sin Archbishop from the board right there and then.

Yeah the fight was more devastating in the novels. Sirius was bloodied by her attacks. The anime made it look like Emilia could only hold her back and that Sirius could only dodge. She probably could’ve done it, tho apparently as she went Emilia was started to get effected by the factor. So if she killed Sirius a LOT of ppl would’ve died there.

This is really great. The voice acting, fight, visuals, sound effects, and the animation are executed perfectly. I just can’t get over how Sirius’s voice is so raw. I also like Emilia’s grunt noises.
Sirius having a breakdown and Emilia also answering back. This fight was amazing. Actually this whole episode was amazing.
*Addressing 2 different points of confusion on the internet:* Emilia being strong and Emilia being a melee fighter. I'll give multiple points.
1. Emilia's improved a lot, but, in general, she's always been pretty strong and also able to fight in melee combat. She showed this explicitly in the Frozen Bonds movie.
2. It's confirmed that, if Subaru had actually accepted Emilia's help against the mabeasts (during the mansion arc) instead of wanting her to stay, the problem would've been dealt with pretty easily.
3. With Puck's added help, she was able to beat Petelgeuse's finger during that failed loop. Like Julius, she IS a spirit arts user, after all (her spirit is just much more developed).
4. For the Elsa fight: Elsa is obviously powerful for one (and Puck had to leave), but also her cape that nullifies magic once and her regeneration made her a difficult opponent.
-Additionally, as said by the author, Elsa is a melee fighter that fights best in enclosed spaces, while Emilia is a mid-range fighter that fights best in open spaces. She also had multiple innocent people in the way.
Leaving aside whether victory was even possible, her opponent had the advantage, and she had the disadvantage, so Emilia's performance was greatly hindered.
5. It seems *a lot* of people have forgotten, but Emilia was nerfed the last 2 seasons. She unlocked her sealed potential last season (and became more confident and bold). She still doesn't have full control over that potential, but she's had more than a year to train (with Subaru's advice and creativity also guiding her use of her abilities).
•[Emilia didn't show off more because of the specific circumstances of the last seasons, which were also engineered by Roswaal and made worse by Subaru not wanting to involve her].

I swear, if the theory that Sirius is actually a reanimated or brainwashed Fortuna proves to be true, this whole scene will become tragic in retrospect.
Honestly it is like Dabi being Toya from my hero academia, all point to that being true it just lacks confirmation.
I want it to be true so bad, it would be so heart wrenching for Emilia that way.
Yeah imagine talking abt how your mother told you your hair, voice, and eyes are beautiful and then having the same reanimated corpse tell you that they’re bad. And accuse you of taking away her love.
y'know I've always had my doubts about that theory, but even I have to admit, it has legs and it would be so cool if its true. And heartbreaking. I mean think about it, if that really is Fortuna then the same question we asked once we learned the truth about Betelgeuse will have to be asked of her: what in God's name did the Witch of Vanity *do* to her? How much had she twisted her memories until she, like Geuse, forgot Emilia and became a raving lunatic incapable of understanding reality or remembering the daughter she raised? Because as much as the Authorities warp their users toward evil ends in the way a Ring of Power might, they don't steal away memories; no Pandora is the only one we saw capable of doing that when she used her power to make Emilia forget her past and twisted Geuse into a madman who would not recognize her or remember Fortuna a hundred years later. Instead all he appeared to remember was the love and the pain (and possibly guilt if some of his ravings are to be taken seriously) but thought them for Satella.
How much more frightening of a villain would Pandora be if we learn one of the most lovable cinnamon roles of this series is now the Archbishop of Wrath? It would basically confirm that no one is safe from what she could do to them, not even Subaru with his Return by Death; and that she could warp anyone, even the most noble and kind of souls into becoming unfathomable monsters.
Could you imagine a "mask off" scenario playing out with Emilia unwinding Sirius's wraps only to stare in horrifying, grief-stricken recognition at a woman who could not possibly be. A literal "I am your father." moment.

I loved this episode really showed how Emilia developed, seems more confident this season… also how both Emilia and Beatrice really trust Subaru

she won’t be decided on loving him or not for a while we on arc 9 for web novel and she’s still only “planning on it” (not said in arc 9 was said not long before it though) when she figures out what romantic love is so if she mentions someone she loves it’s not Subaru
She was talking about her mother Fortuna but they didn't make it clear in the anime, but relax, Subaru will have some very sweet moments with her too.

SPOILERS.
In arc 5 she will say in so many words that Subaru is the man she will love, and in arc 6 what she does most is flirt and make advances on him, she was going to declare herself to him in arc 6 but the witch of envy appeared and killed them both, when Subaru recovered his memories she was happy when he said he was going to marry her, they just haven't gotten together yet because every time something happens or someone gets in the way to hinder the development of things, but Emilia already made it clear that she will declare herself to him when she get the chance.
1:33 - 2:13 is just the most peak voice acting
The only thing i didnt understand about this scene was that how Sirius suddenly manage to pull out Tina during all that fight😂
She performs the same trick later, and as I remember - she has some sort of skill to contain things within pocket space.

In the novels Tina was tied to Sirius’s chest. So Emilia actually cut open her dress to try and finish her off and saw Tina and then faltered.

The space in front of Sirius curved strangely and opened up. The Archbishop reached her hand into the depths and dragged a chained girl out of there. The child may have been ten years old, no more. Through her steel-gagged mouth she tried to cry out for help.
For a moment there at the end, i thought Emilia was going to do an Ice version of Excalibur.
The animation and choreography has been sensational this season🔥
Also; it was great to see Emilia go to work using multiple weapons! Never knew she knew how to use a polearm🙌🏿

Especially when she overkill pre-shot Sirius right at the beginning just because she trust Subaru THAT freaking much, it’s very wholesome how they trust him at his word, he’s done a lot to deserve his words being taken seriously after all, through the first 4 arcs alone. Beatrice and Emilia trusting him without a single doubt really made my day. Our boy really deserves it! Really tho, the day was going well, everything was well for a whole year and now there was no sign anything was going to happen, but when Subaru says It’s Happening, his friends are like « I gotchu homie! ». I wonder if they think he has some premonition powers at this point.

Pretty sure Sirius' authority works considering mana quantity. Emilia and Reinhard were not affected. Subaru was. But Subaru with Beatrice was not. 🤔
Not really. It works based on number of targets + characters's personal resistance. The stronger combatant is - the higher his resistance to all influences including mental and soul ones. Plus some weak characters have higher resistance due to other conditions. Remember whale's cry? Soldiers went insane, Rem was supressed, Crusch was slightly bothered and Wilhelm nearly ignored it, which exactly correlates with strength difference between them. Subaru was resisting cry due to some reason connected with Satella, RBD and so.
Back to Sirius - Subaru was less affected with Beatrice because they constantly helped each other with not falling under Sirius's ability, while Emilia and Reinhard - simply because of their calibre as combatants.
By the way, Reinhard isn’t immune, or at least he claims he isn’t.
Emilia and Beatrice are not affected because Sirius dislikes them (and especially hates Emilia), so she doesn't want them to share in the "love" present there.
Reinhard does have resistance to it, though.

a little tidbit for the anime onlies: this new style of fighting that Emilia has developed was given a name by Subaru, and he dubbed it "Ice Brand Arts". i just think that term is so cool, and i wish they did more exposition on the new things that subaru, beatrice, and emilia show off in this whole exchange. in the novels, the narration takes time to explain to you the new abilities and techniques and what came to create them. its pretty cool. i recommend everyone to invest in reading either the light novels or the web novel

Sirius eerily resembles Emilia. The same purple eye with light blue pupil, ash colored hair. and they even have same half-elf ear, although Sirius is wrapped in bandages you can still see it.
Subaru is a candidate for Sage and is also the perfect candidate to be able to take the missing seat in the witch cult.
The Archbishop of Envy, Subaru follows the path of Envy in the main line, and is both a candidate for Sage and Archbishop of Envy, which would not happen because Satella is only sealed, but it is still a candidate for that missing seat, in a future what if there may be a route where Pandora brainwashes Subaru and turns him into the missing Archbishop for his abysmal affinity with the envy factor
It is not confirmed but highly theorized that she is Fortuna reanimated by Pandora
cause of the famous theory that Sirius is fortuna which has so much evidence i actually don't know why the author doesn't just spell it out for us
