@@lauraj.sawyer9171 The first words from the audio file were that this was a chocolate cake recipe.... so she did know going into the recipe. If my suggestion was unclear, I think it would be fun for you to try and guess what you are making as you are following the steps!

I feel they should have done a more random recipe (one where you wouldn’t be able to guess what the end result is meant to look and taste like) and not told her what it was. I feel this one was just too easy and could have been easily guessed even if there was any confusion

Protip with the parchment is fold it in half and keep folding in half until you get a pointy triangle, then with the tip in the middle, cut at the edge of the pan. Voilà, perfectly shaped circle

I love you and your vids but I think this one would have been better if a) you were making a meal and b) you didn't find out at the beginning what it was. Because if someone says cake, you know in general what you'll need and do. But have someone say sautee scallions in brown sugar and you'll have no clue where you're going xD

Lol she doesn’t cook, Christopher is the meal prepper, she started the cooking foray not too long ago by following recipes on tasty. So a cake for her is huge, I giggled when she asked if she was the only one that didn’t know milk goes in a cake recipe. She also compared a few steps to things she’d seen her hubby do, like the sifting, hence her confusion when she just added ingredients without stirring or sifting. She does like to challenge herself (like she did w the crepes) so I have no doubt she’ll get to making something bigger, just gotta ease her into it 😆

Jillie Bee, Ontario has 4L bagged, or 1L and 2L cartons in the grocery stores, but some of the smaller corner stores/convenience stores still have 2 and 4L jugs, too.

I feel like the recipe was very descriptive, making it kinda easy. I really want you to do this with ANY recipe from the Food Wishes youtube channel lol. He does not give amounts of all the ingredients...u have to check the blog post for that.

ALWAYS make frosting about 10 mins before frosting the cake. Once it sits. It gets thick. Sometimes I'll make it while the cake is cooking then throw it in the fridge until I need it. But I always add a little bit of milk to thin it out. Confectionery sugar WILL harden if it's sitting. Esp 5 cups of it with little liquids 😂😂

The was a hilarious video especially the Peanut Butter Cookie trolling. I think next time you could follow a pictorial for a recipe without any written instructions and on your regular RachhLoves you could follow an eyeshadow pictorial without written instructions. Now that would be a challenge!
A few tips for the future if you're ever in the mood or forced to bake a cake. Having chilled cakes from sticking them in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes helps. To get a smoother look to the icing you could crumb coat it first by putting a thin layer of icing to seal in the crumbs. Then you would chill it and add that thicker more pristine layer of icing smoothly without grabbing to thin it out. Also by letting the buttercream sit and soften, since it (American Style Buttercream) doesn't have to be refrigerated once it's on a cake, will also help with icing. Some people also find it easier to pipe the icing onto the cake in a swirl pattern and it can be easier since you're covering most of it and just smoothing it into small crevices. Also for cutting the cakes horizontally there are cake leveling tools out the to help. I am such an anxious baker/“chef”, I have to look at a recipe 3 times before I dump anything in lol but what fun! You should cook a meal next!
