    Girl to peel garlic all you have to do is use the flat side of a kitchen knife and press down and it will come right off. Been doing that for years.

      Or if your doing alot of garlic cause I make red sauce for asado and stuff at the beginning of the month of you cut the bottom part then microwave the whole thing for 30 seconds and you squeeze them from. The top and it just slips out the bottom

    Some of these “hacks” just seem like they are more mess than anything else. To peel garlic I always just smash a clove with my chefs knife and peel the husk off it takes two seconds and is much easier than their hack. Hope this helps! Love your videos!

      I'm awful with a knife but I just roll a clove in my hands and it works so quickly and easily. It literally takes 4 seconds. Tasty is 95% click bait and 5% tips we already know from our grandmas😂

      Lol! I was actually really surprised to find out a lot of people don't peel garlic this way. I once walked into my sister's house to find her actually peeling it, I put it on her cutting board and smushed it and she was in awe lol.

    I roll my lemons on the counter before juicing. Pressing down firmly on them as you roll helps breakdown the membranes and makes juicing easier. And adding a splash of vinegar to the water when you cook hard boiled eggs helps the shell come off easier. Love when you test these hacks! 🍋

    A better whipped cream hack:
    1. Put your heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla in a blender.
    2. Blend for 10 to 15 seconds.
    3. Ta-dah! The fastest whipped cream you will ever make.

    Instead of pouring water on the bread, I wrap my left over bread in a damp paper towel and microwave it. I also learned the bread in the cookie jar trick from my mom! But my favorite hack is to microwave leftover pizza with a mug of water. It keeps the crust from getting hard!

    • @shadypalmtree2989

      I usually do the damp paper towel trick with the pizza. Since I use the microwave cover, I just place a drenched paper towel over the ventilation holes and my crust is perfectly soft

    the stale bread one, I used to work in a bakery and the trick we used to give our customers was to soak a paper bag (the one the baguettes were sold in), put the bread in it and bake it. So only the bag was wet, not the bread... avoiding soggy bread :)

    That bread hack is something my mom taught me for storing homemade cookies and it's something that we use to keep the cookies moist and tasting like they were made that day. If you have a small batch you can use one slice but a slightly bigger one we've always used two. It works really well and is a great way to keep cookies from hardening up if they're prone to!

    The bread is meant to just be run under water and then baked, it was just shown on a backing tray because it was probably easier to film. I've done this a few times and it works, but you definitely used too much water if it was soggy. My French baguettes come out crispy on the outside and soft and like fresh on the inside

    I haven't bought the pre-peeled garlic since watching the Netflix docuseries Rotten. One episode was about the garlic industry and Chinese inmates peel the garlic and some even have to use their teeth because the peeling had ruined their fingernails. You can actually see the dent their nails/teeth leave in the garlic when you buy it 🤢

    • @lindsayvlogslife

      Kristen Merke I didn't say all pre-peeled garlic was peeled there. But even if it says Product of Canada/USA/whatever doesn't mean it was peeled here, it could have been processed anywhere. I highly recommend you watch that episode of Rotten if you're interested in learning more.

    I have been using the strawberry/straw hack for a while now and I love doing it and my kids think it's fun. I've also tried the orange peeling hack and I had the same outcome as you. That bread and cookie hack is crazy awesome!!!! It's so fun to find a REAL hack that works %100

    I love heating up citrus to help with getting fresh juice. It helps with juicing by hand. I will definitely be using the stail cookie hack. I think adding a shaker ball to the mason jar will help to make awesome whipped cream in a jar.

    The last one does not work. You can’t wipe enough air into it like that and if you shake to long it turns to butter... and that ladies and gentlemen is how butter is made and in this case sweet vanilla butter. (I know from experience, you live and you learn)

    Gosh, people, why are you struggling with garlic that much??? Just separate garlic into sections and cut off the bottom and top of section, then pill it with your precious hands. It is so easy and so much faster than all the hacks you find in internet 🤦🏼‍♀️

      I have a connective tissue disorder that causes a lot of pain and weakness in my joints, especially my hands. I have a hard time peeling garlic even when it's "easy." I also struggle with turning keys sometimes, and can't open soda or water bottles using my hands alone. Also can't open Tupperware half the time and drop things at random so often I'm banned from carrying dishes that can break across the kitchen. It's not just garlic is what I'm trying to say. I can do it, it just hurts a ton and takes a lot longer than it would for the average person, even if I do try to crush it first (sometimes I can't because I can't put enough pressure on it to get it to crush).
      A lot of hacks and tools that seem to be lazy are useful and sometimes even required for people with disabilities to be able to do things on their own.

    Is it really that hard to peel an egg? Just crack it on a counter and slide off

    • @miquelmontgomery2542
      @miquelmontgomery2542 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Christiana K it actually is pretty hard to peel an egg sometimes. Like for me I can cook it at just the right temperature for the right amount of time and when I go to peel it the egg comes off and it becomes really messy because the shell does not slide off like it should

    • @sagesaria
      @sagesaria 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sometimes you get those eggs that want to cling to their shell for dear life and attempting to peel them takes a lot of the white with it.

    Love your hack testing videos! My mom always put a piece of white bread in with her fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. Kept them soft for days! I have never microwaved a lemon, but I do roll it on the counter before I squeeze it. Helps to break things up a bit and produces more juice. I also remember making butter in a baby food jar when I was in Girl Scouts - just cream and a little salt - it does work, but it did take forever!

    We grew up with keeping bread in with cookies! The water trick also works with a damp paper towel and pizza. I also recently saw a tip for cutting bell peppers-slice off both ends and make a slit in a side and then you can unfold it, cleanly pull out the core, and it’s perfect for quickly slicing or roasting without the core. (Obviously then use the top and bottom)
