Stan Lee created X-Men, being inspired from the Civil Rights movement. Hence why mutants aren't really liked. He envisioned Professor X to be like Martin Lurher King Jr. And Magneto to be like Malcom X. Both fighting for the same cause, but different approaches to it. Also Wanda Maximoff (Scarlett Witch) and Pietro (Quicksilver) are the children of Magneto.
My pops didn't like me spending money on comics until I showed him X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills which shows that Martin/Malcolm dynamic so clearly. he sat down and read it and then gave his blessing because it realized it wasn't just frivolous. They were trying backdoor some good messages.
17:04, no Quicksilver is nowhere near Flash's level. The Speed Force which is an aspect of the Source (DC's version of The Force) powers his speed. Quicksilver's speed is due to his physical mutant body chemistry.
Tragic: Logan was born in the 1800s. His memory wipes are caused by his own power. Because he actually cares about others, living a long life means he occasionally experiences extreme emotional trauma (such as when a loved one dies). His power interprets emotional trauma as an injury, and "heals" him by wiping his memory.
@@profanepersonality I don’t wanna spoil anything for our mans here- but nah 💀 Apocalypse is littered with continuity errors that are really hard to ignore, much more so than they are here. I don’t think it’s a trash movie, but I def wouldn’t put it in my top 5 for X-Men movies.
This is how the X-men series should have ended. It was easily the best one. Yes, everything from the first movies were changed, because you have to remember the scene where Wolverine told young Charles to talk to future Charles he saw everything the Wolverine experienced and was able to change anything bad that was going to happen. Also yes that was Quicksilver and Wanda. They are actually mutants and Magneto’s children. But for copyright reasons when Foxed owned X-men (these movies) Disney had to change how they got their powers. Now Disney owns X-men and they are about to bring them into the Marvel universe.
Quicksilver (Pietro Maximov), MCU and Xmen has different versions of the same character. In the comics, Wanda and Pietro are Magneto's children. You need to get to Wandavision.
I'm pretty sure Storm is a 5, too, like Jean, Magneto and whoever else. She is an Omega level mutant. A lot of fans biggest gripe about these movies is that her power levels were never showcased properly, or done justice, or her character development. For instance, do you know there was a scene in this movie where she and Wolverine share a kiss that was cut for no good reason? You can still watch it on TH-cam. They filmed it and everything. Anyway, back to her powers, Storm has the ability to suck all the oxygen out of a man's lungs using her manipulation of the air. How OP is that? She can even create ice by freezing rainwater, making IceMan virtually useless. There are so many cool hacks to her powers that it's not even funny.
In Professor X said himself that Jean is the only omega level 5 mutant with limitless potential and in comics is the same she is the only Omega level 5 mutant 😂😂😂
So glad you got to experience The Rogue Cut. The theatrical release didn't include her, therefore Kitty keeps holding onto Logan. Magneto & Bobby stay there because they don't go back to the school. The Sentinels could switch between different powers/abilities because of Mystique's blood that Trask got However in both movies The Sentinels can also absorb powers which only Rogue could do (which is why she's kept captive in Cerebro) and makes The Rogue Cut a better rounded story. Imho🙃 Now, Quicksilver exists in both Universes,Marvel/Fox. In the X-Men Universe Quicksilver has a little sister that we see here and another one (his Twin??) that we never see (Wanda??) that was Upstairs.
Rogue was in the movie, Bobby and Magneto saved after she was captured and experienced on, Bobby died right after she was rescued , and she screamed after the Sentinels killed, she replaced Kitty when she and Magneto got where all of the mutants were hiding and said ji hi Logan and he heard her asking it was her ❤ and I loved that movie too ❤❤❤
I've been reading the X Men comics since I was a kid back in the 80s, and Micheal Fassbender's portrayal of Magneto is spot on to the comic version. His speech when he's at the Whitehouse still gives me chills
I was so happy that this film fixed all the ridiculousness of X3 where they killed multiple characters and de-powered others. I used to work at a library and a guy came in to return this dvd. He had only watched the first few minutes and hated it (the part where it was the desolate future). He said he hated X3 and had hoped this would be better, but he’s done with the XMen. I had to convince him to please watch it and he would be happy at the end. He came back the next day and was thrilled that everyone was alive again
A fun fact. In 1942, Stan Lee enlisted in the army. He would later write scripts, manuals, and other instructional material for the military instead of fighting on the front lines. Instead of going overseas to fight in the war, Lee instead was deployed to Astoria, Queens, where he could put his real skills to work. Incidentally, this division was also home to Theodor Geisel, the man who would one day become Dr. Seuss. So they knew each other and worked together. Makes you wonder what they talked about.
When wolverine tells hank he didn’t make it, he means he didn’t live thru the world Wolverine came from in the war trask created against the mutants (in the beginning) against the Sentinals. (Big morphing creatures that kill and adapt to all mutants)
In the comic books, Kitty Pryde dies after a virus designed to kill mutants is unleashed. It’s right before Bishop is introduced (the black man who got charged up after Storm hit him with lightening in this movie). Bishop comes to the X-Men because one of the X-Men betrays them and sets off a chain of events that threatens his world.
In the comics, Quick Silver and Wanda are mutant twins. The movie deals allowed quicksilver as a mutant to fox for the Xmen. The MCU used both twins without mentioning the mutant part and changed their father from the comics in wandavission. Also, Bishops power is that he can absorb any energy, store it like a battery, and redirect it through his gun. In the comics, he grew up in the world destroyed by sentinels, and he is who Kitty sends back to the past. He is my second favorite Cmen after Gambit.
I've been been looking forward to you getting to this one. 😊 This is one is one of my favorites in the "X-Men" series. The "Time in a Bottle" kitchen sequence is my favorite part of the movie. Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
There have been THREE very different Bolivar Trasks. As you mentioned, we saw Trask in X-Men 3 as played by Bill Duke. We saw the second Bolivar Trask in First Class, but he was played by Oliver Platt (he was one of the guys Azazel dropped to his death at the Pentagon). And here, he's somehow very much alive and played by the very different Peter Dinklage. It's another one of those inconsistencies across the X-Men series that is likely due to the lack of a solid multi-film plan. They would use minor characters, recast them, kill them off, and bring them back with the hopes that no one notices. And yes, that is Wanda's brother Pietro a.k.a. Peter a.k.a. Quicksilver. This is just a different one from the Pietro was saw in Age of Ultron. In the comics, Wanda and Pietro are actually mutants, but due to some legal red tape, they couldn't be called mutants in Age of Ultron.
TIMELINE: X men first class X men origins wolverine X men X2 X men the last stand The wolverine X men days of future past X men apocalypse X men dark phoenix Deadpool The new mutants Logan Deadpool 2
This movie was perfect. I'm glad that the movie director brought back everyone that had previously died. Also, I wonder if the sentinels would be able to duplicate Superman's powers since he's an alien from another planet and not just a human with powers.
That kitchen scene w quicksilver and the cops is top 3 of my all time favorite scenes in this entire series! So so cool! &u may know this but the actor playin quicksilver played Dahmer in the new Netflix series!
There are mutants and then there are Omega level mutants. Omega basically meaning world ending or unlimited power potential. Magneto, Storm, Jean Grey, and Bobby ( the freeze dude) are some of the few Omega level mutants.
Remember not to spoil anything for future movies. Keep up the great work I think X-Men fans universally agreed. This is one of the best out of the series. Keep up the great work And Can’t wait for you to see Apocalypse next
That is Peter Maximoff, but from a different timeline/universe. Fox owned quicksilver when age of ultron came out, hence why they couldn’t ever blatantly call him quicksilver
Major you’re probably the only person on the planet that ranks origins as their favorite. They got so many things wrong in that film. Dofp is my personal favorite but Logan is hands down the best X-Men movie. Can’t wait to see u react to it.
In the comics there is a future timeline in which the Sentinels targeted every human not just the mutants. The way they were showing how desolate future Earth was leads me to believe the Sentinels took their mandate worldwide. Sentinels are designed to hunt down and track mutants. But if you were to look at practically every human being's DNA you will more than likely find some type of mutation. So to the Sentinels that would mean all humans are mutants. I think that is what they were showing.
15:08 this guy is quick sliver. The character was killed off in the Avengers storyline. His sister is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe although she has not made an appearance in the X-Men storyline. His sister is the Scarlet Witch.
It is the best of the X-Men movies probably but of all the Fox X-Men universe, I feel it is tie between Deadpool and Logan. Those movies delivered for me as an old ass comic nerd. Me nerding out at all of your questions and observations while watching Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) and Pietro Maximoff (Quicksilver) had their first appearance in X-Men as part of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutant iirc, but in the like 70/80s they became heroes and were part of the Avengers. Due to Marvel selling off many of their movie rights to different companies back in the 80s or 90s, you see them in the Disney Avengers movies because they were a part of the Avengers in the comics, but Fox had the rights to the X-Men. This Peter/Quicksilver is really our first taste of them in X-Men universe. They even give a nod to them being Magneto's children but comics continuity is even more busted than the films so I don't know if that is part of their origin in canon in any media anymore. I liked this take on Quicksilver, the visualization of his powers was dope. The Striker in this is supposed to be younger version of the Striker from Origins and X-Men 2, who gave Wolverine his adamantium skeleton and weaponized his own son to trying and destroy all mutants. First Class and this film are trying to tidy the mess that X3 and Origins left, which kinda fucked up the movie continuity. This basically resets the timeline to what the original director, Bryan Singer, would have done with X3 onward if it hadn't gone to Bret Ratner. Then I just ignore Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, and look at Logan as the end of the Bryan Singer X-Men universe. I started collecting the comics in the late 80s, early 90s when they were still dealing with the repercussions of this Days of Future Past story arc, and then leading into the Mutant Massacre arc, and introduction of the whole Genosha/Inferno arc. After that the comics start falling prey to the same thing these movies did, too many time travel and multiversal resets that make even the good story arcs have no weight because the deaths and choices that were undone or ignored. Now that Marvel has the rights ot X-Men I really hope they turn into a premium TV series and just make a new X-Men timeline and cast in the MCU. They just say that more widespread mutations are introduced because the Snap and run from there. Maybe use some of the Inhuman's mutant backstory from the Agents of Shield since that is how they were trying to backdoor mutants into the MCU when they didn't have the X-men rights anyway and in the comics the Inhuman's were retconned into mutants anyway. Never watch that Inhumans miniseries, that thing is booty. I hated X-Men Origins: Wolverine because I kinda hate the James Howlett backstory that marvel ginned up in the comics. Love this movie. Really did the old cast right bringing them all back one last time and setting the stage for the new cast. The comic book is even better everyone should read it if they like the movie. 😊
I know I'm late watching The Patriot. I just wanted to say, thank you Major, amazing reaction. Thank you to the men and women that sacrificed their lives for our freedom. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
The strongest mutants are called "Omega Level" mutants. Jean, Magneto, Storm and Iceman are all Omega Level. (Iceman is not portrayed as very powerful in the movies though.)
Did you see the scene showing Trask is now in the Pentagon prison in the end credits? This version, " The Rogue Cut " is better than the theatrical version.
34:53, I think they are referencing the alien tech that has been incorporated into the Blackbird over the years. In the comics, the X-Men became allies to an alien empire called the Shi'ar. In fact Professor X became the consort of their Empress Lilandra. To help the X-Men in their missions on Earth, the Shi'Ar granted Professor X access to some of their technology. The X-Man Forge (who has an almost magical ability to invent new gadgets) then enhanced the jet to give it an invisibility cloak and much better capabilities than the original Blackbirds.
90’s xmen Animated series first two episodes were called “Days of Future Past Pt 1 & 2” Thems next, Major. You cant be part of Xmen without watching them toooooo
No he is not. They just wrote this Quicksilver very well, but Spider-Man is a top 5 funniest comic book character while Quicksilver is nowhere near top 50. But THIS Quicksilver is amazing.
I think in the disney cut, right before Kitty dies the past gets fixed and undoes everything, but in the rogue cut, they bring in rogue to take over for her and we get some extra scenes. Not sure, so feel free to correct me.
Depending on what universe your in who's faster there is no speed force in earth 616, but they made a great cross over where flash has to race quicksilver
the rogue cut basically only added rogue to the movie , she wasn't in the theatrical version, plus the movie kinda didnt make sense that mystique power's would be the one to make the sentinels absorb mutants powers when it basically rogue power is the best candidate for that
If only there was a mutant who could adapt to any situations. Surely if one existed they could’ve used that mutant in this movie and let’s say not kill them in a prior movie
That is Quicksilver. In the main comic universe the 616 Quicksilver and Wanda are sometimes mutants and sometimes Magneto's children. Different writers retcon that in and out all the time.
It would've been cooler having a whole movie about mutants fighting for their survival in this future Because the future scenes were far more interesting than the past scenes
*They recast Trask from Bill Duke (a tall black man) to Peter Dinklage. I love Tyrion as much as the next throner but that's a weird choice. Yes I just made up that name for Game of Thrones fans.*
I haven't read the comic this is based off of i need to but kitty can't do that she just phases, there are 3 summers brothers Cyclops, havok, and vulkin, cable is Cyclops son his daughter is hope summers the mutant messiah and Christopher summers is his dad has a space pirate, the summers family reunion must be wild
The timelines are hella messy, I’m honestly surprised he didn’t catch more of it. If you just plug in dates according to movies to come before this (that are acknowledged by this very movie)- no one looks how they should besides Wolverine and Mystique, age-wise

Nixon only ran for president twice. Once in 1960(lost)and then in 1968(won). He was also the vice president to Eisenhower(1952-1960). Dude was busy.
Hands Down one of my Favorites!
Quicksilver is a much better comic relief than the MCU's Spiderman
And much more subtle too
No he is not. They just wrote this Quicksilver very well, but Spider-Man is a top 5 funniest comic book character while Quicksilver is nowhere near top 50. But THIS Quicksilver is amazing.
@@reynaldolorenzo8409 i agree
I think in the disney cut, right before Kitty dies the past gets fixed and undoes everything, but in the rogue cut, they bring in rogue to take over for her and we get some extra scenes. Not sure, so feel free to correct me.
I’d say X2 is my favorite, but this one is a very close second!
Great X-Men reaction! Not sure if you're interested in any animated series but they have a few you might enjoy!
Depending on what universe your in who's faster there is no speed force in earth 616, but they made a great cross over where flash has to race quicksilver
I enjoy the rogue cut myself too!! great movie bro!
Yep best x men movie (not counting logan)
I personally think Logan is better than infinity war and endgame so I’d say it’s arguably the best “marvel” movie to date
@@nickosmond you have great opinion
@@nickosmond yep but daredevil netfilx beats them all
@@jayconant3816 this must be a joke
@@nickosmond thats common knowledge
Trask Industries = X-Men
Stark Industries = Avengers
the rogue cut basically only added rogue to the movie , she wasn't in the theatrical version, plus the movie kinda didnt make sense that mystique power's would be the one to make the sentinels absorb mutants powers when it basically rogue power is the best candidate for that
the sentinels needed Raven's powers to "adapt" to the mutants there were facing....not stealing their powers
If only there was a mutant who could adapt to any situations. Surely if one existed they could’ve used that mutant in this movie and let’s say not kill them in a prior movie
@@DiRTyWoRK_TV but still dont make sense because they wasnt adapting they were taking powers like rogue's power
Yes, this is the best one
That is Quicksilver. In the main comic universe the 616 Quicksilver and Wanda are sometimes mutants and sometimes Magneto's children. Different writers retcon that in and out all the time.
Excited for Logan
Yes. Yes it is 😊
My fav🙌🏽
End credits is showing of apocalypse , he is the first mutant
That was young cable at the beggining..Jean and cyclops son
Can't wait until you see Dark Phoenix!
Yeah this joint is the best. Can’t wait
Hands down, the best XMen movie.
Definitely my favorite!!!!!
Major talked himself into confusion with this one 😂😂😂
Phoenix is the strongest in my opinion…. You’ll see
Rogue ends up with Gambit, the guy from the movie Wolverine.
It would've been cooler having a whole movie about mutants fighting for their survival in this future
Because the future scenes were far more interesting than the past scenes
This was is my favorite by far of the whole series
*They recast Trask from Bill Duke (a tall black man) to Peter Dinklage. I love Tyrion as much as the next throner but that's a weird choice. Yes I just made up that name for Game of Thrones fans.*
Phoenix , Her name is Rachel summers the daughter of Scott and jean and the scarlet witch And Jeane gray As strongest Top 3 I would say
I laughed at your Hank/Raven reaction.
Quicksilver is Wanda brother. It was a rights dispute being fox and marvel. In the comics magneto is their father
The way I understand it, this is Stryker as a young man.
Another great reaction ❤😊I loved James McAvoy as a young Professor X😊
Big up major for another fire reaction
I hope this is the Rogue Cut version!
This is by far the best X-Men movie, but is still full of BIG problems. At least in the future scenes we actually get to see the X-Men be the X-Men.
The timelines are hella messy, I’m honestly surprised he didn’t catch more of it. If you just plug in dates according to movies to come before this (that are acknowledged by this very movie)- no one looks how they should besides Wolverine and Mystique, age-wise
Major another Epic Reaction ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️
My favorite one!!!
Good movie. Solid W!
