Pretty much. But all that goes out the window when a huge money grab is on the table. Do people really believe celebrities are in the cloud? Come now. They have staff and plenty of people they hire to hype up this virtual space. It’s already unregulated and we’re seeing how these unrealities are affecting kids. Parents need to step up…no kid NEEDS an oculus.

Human civilization is an artificial universe of invented things, contexts, and experiences. Humanity at large has already digitized our experience of reality some 10,000 years ago. From creating codes of written language to breaking down possessions into quantities or delineating plots of land, we've been on this road since the beginning of recorded history.

It's ridiculous to me. If the real world problems are not solved like high homeless rates, good prices, access to clean water etc, I don't think a virtual work is of value. I want to just think of it as a game

It reminds me of the Sims game back in 2000 and the movie WALL·E where everyone ended up becoming humongous because of lack of physical activity and no direct human interaction. So I guess they’ve been preparing us for this for over 20 years!

Very different things. I play minecraft and it is totally different. Unlike these decentralized worlds, minecraft is centralized. It's a videogame, the metaverse is not.

Metaverse is basically a creative platform for experiences. This is evident in Froyo Game's Gamebox where gamers all across the globe can play casual games and earn virtual goods with utilities such as merchandise or NFT collectibles.
Basically, it's the same concept as in the 2009 movie "Surrogates" starring Bruce Willis. This idea is not new. I doubt the technology we think is new and groundbreaking is either. There's nothing new under the sun. Knowledge has just been hidden.

Why would I want to spend time in the metaverse when there’s better things to do in real life? Also can you transfer money that you have in these spaces (ie. mana) back to real money?
You can covert mana to dollars in exchanges like Coinbase or using metamask wallet for example.
As far as why people would spend time, personal preference. People used to say that when people spend hours a day playing Pac-Man on Atari

My goal is to create a metaverse dance nightclub.
Meta seems like a must-do simply because of the FB, IG and Whatsapp connections.
But I see there are limits to room capacity, basically maybe 15 - 20 people. That doesn't make sense for a nightclub.
Plus I am concerned that Meta might start clamping down on DJs and nightclubs due to copyright issues, like they do with FB & IG.
I like the Sandbox as many huge music-oriented performers & corporations have jumped in.
Decentraland looks good too.
Are you aware of any capacity limits on Sandbox & Decentraland?
I really hope that will not be the case more time in VR Worlds than reality.

Honestly I would have never thought to learn about this stuff if it wasn’t for my college assignment. I do have to say I’m interested, it’s engaging and I’m curious to know more however, it’s still quite confusing. My assignment is on how the metaverse and nfts can effects (positive and negative) the fashion and beauty industry and companies within that. Basically I’m quite confused as to how these meta verses get partners such as Adidas and snoop dogg and how these partnerships are implemented and funded.
theyre making money off digital items im sure if they don't already will have the option to buy the real thing at premium prices or at a discount compared for your avatar. just like the little FB games people spend real money for the fake thing for their avatar and their environment like in the real world except it tricks the brain into believing its real. i guess it is interested on the level of independent designers pushing the realms of reality to design outlandish outfits for avatars. Depending on your designing and coding skills may be a good way to test products or grow an fan base.. Stil feel like its like that movie
@@spiritempoweredfriends1903 yeah that makes more sense we did end up jumping on the idea that designers can use this as a gateway to grow a fan base or interest in items and I’m not sure if it was in this video (been a while since I watched this video) but I did see someone create this sneakers that went crowd crazy and then they sold a limited edition amount for crazy money. Something tho about the metaverse just gives me an off feeling. Especially with the recent layoff this month from big gaming companies. Those same laid off employees were replaced by AI. This was words of one of the CEO’s that laid off many employees from their company.

It's WoW for everyday people. Could be clever for visiting entertainment websites but at the end of the day most of the internet is written words. Reading through an MMO is ridiculous and unnecessary. I did like the interesting use case of replacing Zoom; it's not an advantage for the occasional zoom meeting; but you could imagine a virtual office of sorts where people just "pop in" instead of calling you. But that could become very annoying, and you will always have AFK modes. And a headset will fry your brain over time. This will initially be popular among the crowd that already lives on the Internet with gaming, MMOs, Second Life, and whatever other BS (Instagram etc). But will it get the ever-shrinking population that is trying to build a family, life and legacy in the real world? I hope not. There could be interesting uses for a non-gaming MMO, so I don't sneer at the tech by itself, but I'm very skeptical for what those cases are and that they are overall superior to existing methods.
if you're ever feeling down just remember some really smart people bought virtual land and nfts for hundreds of thousands of dollars that are now worth nothing. the world is truly amazing.

People are really conflating your message it's wild. Ready player one is probably the most accurate depiction of what the metaverse run world will look like. People will still have lives but they will hinge around their escape from reality the metsverse. Look, feel and be what you want and not what you have to, this escape has been around forever and cell phones were just the launching pad to get us ready for this, we will get used to the metaverse the same way our parents got used to cell phones.

big corporations and banks want us sitting around in dark rooms spending money while we work 24 hours a day in VR. But I’m trying to think positive and speculate with hope on all the possible cool ways to interact with machines through AR and other humans outdoors.
