I saw some landscapes and a still life in these!
Me too!
Fabulous demonstration producing excellent artworks. Thank you for sharing your skills.
Thank you! Cheers!
Wonderful tutorial
Thank you so much 😊
this was a fantastic short video which reminded me of some of the techniques - I've been away a long time from cold wax and oils and needed a quick reminder! thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I love this demo! There are some really beautiful little paintings.
Thank you so much! I love doing these small series.
Lovely! 👍 👍. But I personally wouldn't cut them up but treat it as ONE painting. Just mat board it up as is and frame it! Half a dozen of these and you have a very very good exhibition.
Thank you. That’s another way of displaying them!
Thank you Patt! Freebie and so much value.
Glad you enjoyed it Pamela!
I enjoyed this! Thank you for taking the time to create and share it.
My pleasure Kate!
Thank you Patt for this great demo. I learned a few things from this, and especially liked the idea of a looking mat!
Love how they came out. My fave is middle row far right. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks again, Pia.
Glad it was helpful!
That was a great moment
Glad you thought so!
thx Patt from France
Thanks for watching!
Excellent!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful. Thanks for sharing. It’s interesting how in my mind I keep saying stop it’s perfect. You keep going and at every alteration I think now stop but in the end your choices are perfect.
Thanks Rhonda! Knowing what to lose, what to keep, when to keep going, and when to stop come with experience!
Great video Patt. It's sure to inspire some people to try oil and cold wax.
Thanks! Absolutely! So much fun!
So pretty. Did you put gesso on your paper first Patt?
No -I use Arches oil paper - it is ready to paint on. If you use watercolour paper you need to gesso it so the oil doesn’t absorb through to the back.
Thanks!
My pleasure!
Patt - Thank you so very much . Absolutely beautiful . I so enjoy watching your cold wax paintings evolve , and your explanations are so helpful . Thank you once again . Kind regards - Judi - Australia 🤗😶🌫

Stupid question really... what is COLD WAX? I work in Acrylics?. Can you use cold wax and acrylics?
Cold wax is a mixture of beeswax, resin, and solvent. It can’t be mixed with acrylic but you can wax ( as a varnish) an acrylic painting with cold wax. After waxing you would not be able to paint over it with acrylic. I think there is a wax you can mix with acrylics though.
What is cold wax please?
Cold wax is a made up of beeswax, solvent and some damar resin. Unlike encaustic wax you don’t fuse it as the addition of solvent evaporates and allows it to dry. It is added to the oil paint in a ratio up to 50%.
