Boy, I remember when this came out. It seemed so dark, now not so unbelievable.

Zager & Evans were an American rock-pop duo active during the late 60's-70's. This futuristic song "In The Year 2525" was their biggest hit in 1969 so they are often classified as a one-hit wonder.

It's been awhile since I heard this. I liked it back then and still like it. There is a message with a warning, I think we need to keep that in mind.

Think about the old Dick Tracy comics with phone watches.
Hell I thought I was Dick Tracy in the 70's when I got a watch with a built in lighter. Damn technology just has me SMH😂

Man I forgot how much I absolutely loved this as a little kid when I heard it on the radio. And I also figured out kind of how to play it on the piano. To me they were always a one hit wonder but I don't really know. Such an amazing song for the time.

I've always loved this song. It was a bold in yer face, stand out for back then.
Also love your commentary and agree 💯. I might add this; as a past telemarketing solicitor for cancer funds, I'm sad to say the powers that be do not really want to cure cancer. There is far too much money to be lost if cancer goes away. Think about it. 🥺

As late as the mid 1970s I had this song on a 45 rpm record. We moved in 1976 and I don't know what happened to it after that.

I dig how they created a "wall of sound" by pushing the bass in the mix and adding violins and trumpet flourishes for embellishment. The song pairs well with "Eve of Destruction" by Barry McGuire from 1965. Both songs seem to get traction whenever bouts of mass hysteria take hold. As for the state of affairs at the moment, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times, as Dickens wrote. Funny thing though, right now the things people seem to complain about the most are actually doing well and getting better, but some people grouse about anything and everything always just to puff themselves up as more cynical than thou because they think it gives them cred. The economy was in worse shape in the past, much much worse shape, for example, but people are so used to griping about it they don't know when to stop. And when it comes to the things that really are getting worse, the ever increasing amount of heat across the planet for example, too many people prefer to keep on riding down the river of denial. "Don't it always seem to go \ That you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone? \ They paved paradise, put up a parking lot"

For real tho, why do all the wrong people have ALL the money?? I couldn't have more money than I'd know what to do with coz there's so much good that a person could do with a surplus of money. But, like you said the people that have it, wanna spend it on stupid 💩!! God forbid they help out their fellow man! 😐 They think all people that don't have anything, did it to themselves so they ain't doing 💩 to help anyone. They'd rather waste millions upon millions of dollars playing astronaut and 💩... 🤦🏼‍♀️😐
