I love this film. Saw it when I was 15 with my nan and my uncle and went back the next day to watch it again. I bought it on vhs then dvd and now streaming. Charles bronson give his best performance ever cladia is beautiful Fonda fantastic and Robards at his best. The music is brilliant I remember trying to buy an album of it in 1968/9 Never found it until mid 90s it is truly a masterpiece. It ranks with the godfather for me Thanks for the review I’ve read books about this film. Perhaps it’s because it was the last film I saw with my Nan who introduced me to the joys of cinema. Love it.
1:38 I would like to add... he might be corrupt, but he is an interesting character, his character motivation and you can understand him. The movie is extremely well written, and the characters propperly developed.
1:56 - is this correct? When Harmonica arrives he asks them about Frank, ..."Frank?" ... "Frank sent us?" ..." You brought a horse for me?" .. etc. I alwats figured Harmonica messaged Frank asking to meet... hoping to sort out Frank at the statoin... Frank not wanting to waist time, or suspects its a setup, sends his goons. (I think it really just makes an amazing opening regardless of how it fits in the story) When Claudia arrives Frank is still unaware that the farmer had married. She also arrives at a different station.
Thank you Donny, that's very kind! This is truly one of the great westerns and greatest films of all time in my humble opinion... I'm of course a huge fan of Leone's 'Dollars Trilogy' but I feel this is the high point of his career. Thanks as always for watching the video and taking the time to comment, I'm very grateful. I hope you are well buddy, have a great week! 👏📽
This Movie is a Masterpiece. Leone and Morricone made the perfect team. Incredible shots and Beautiful music. I love all of Leone's Spaghetti Western movies, they are timeless. In my opinion he made the greatest Gangster movie of all time too; Once Upon A Time In America.
I love Once Upon a Time in America and I'm definitely due a re-watch! It' such shame Leone didn't make more movies! Thanks so much for watching, have a great week! 👏📽
I just checked to see if I have this and I don’t, shame on me. I’ve not seen it for years, thanks for bringing it back to my attention, such a top line up of actors, I will grab a copy very soon, cheers mate, another very informative and interesting video, take care👍😃👍
Thanks as always mate, very much appreciated! I'd love to see a nice 4K edition of this released at some point, certainly deserves it. Have a great week buddy. 📽👏
Hi Steven, I guess you didn’t check the video before uploading 😬you mean Henry not Peter Fonda, I’m sure you realised. A masterpiece of a movie, contains the greatest opening to a movie in my opinion & the soundtrack is beautiful. The casting is top notch & finally Leone got Bronson to appear in one of his movies after he tried a few times earlier. I still have “The Good, the bad & ugly” as my greatest western but only by a small margin. Great to the point review 😎
Aww mate I was gutted when I realised! I don't know what I was thinking 🤣 I've had to put a disclaimer in the description so people don't think I'm a lunatic! Thanks for checking out the video mate. I love the Dollars trilogy (A few Dollars More has always been my personal favourite) I'm very much overdue a re-watch of Leone's Once Upon a Time in America also... thanks again buddy! 👏📽
Fantastic review Steven; I haven’t seen this in years; but I remember absolutely loving it; it’s well overdue a rewatch; I didn’t get to see this at Tyneside last year unfortunately; but I did see ‘The Good; Bad & The Ugly’ and that looked stunning at Tyneside; absolute testament to the Western genre; I hope more of Leone’s films get the 4K treatment as it just had to be there for the taking 🙌
Fantastic commentary about a fantastic film. One note, though. In your spoken analysis, your title, and the written synopsis you referred to Henry Fonda by his son’s name, Peter Fonda. Henry Fonda is by far the superior actor.
Wow! You are right! I’m not sure what I was thinking there haha, thanks for pointing that out 🤦🏻 I’ve altered it and I agree Henry is in fact the superior actor. 😃
My 5 gratest film of all time, and of course, the greatest western of all time for me. In that one picture, and from there work later, I think that Charles Bronson genuninely liked Jason Robards. Claidian Cardinale did not like Charles Bronson though.
@@ReelClassicFilmReviews youre entitled to your opinion,i just hate how people enter polotics into everuthing john wayne.polotics aside that huy made alot of great films!!!!
That opening, is a work of art

Greatest western ever made. By an Italian too! Such a good movie with an excellent soundtrack

0:23 - HENRY Fonda... Where does this "Peter" come from ?
Yeah I had to put a disclaimer at the top of the description as i clearly had a brain fart that day! 🤦🏻
@@ReelClassicFilmReviews Oh yes, sorry, I didn't read the description, I jumped into the video as it talks about THE BEST MOVIE EVER... :)
Bests.

Great movie and as always a great review..
Dude,it was Henry Fonda,not Peter
Haha, I know! 🤦🏻 I’ve put a little disclaimer in the description, dunno what I was thinking 🤷🏻♂️😖
Where is peter fonda?
I of course meant Henry Fonda, my mistake... I placed a disclaimer in the top of the video description.
This great,no way is it better than the searchers or the man who shot liberty valance!!!
They are both great films... this one however is my personal favourite. 👏📽
