If your deck run partners of some kind, certain Backgrounds can stack since it gives an ability to your commander creatures. I think backgrounds are underrated.
The reason trailblazer boots aren't used is because of swiftfoot boots, lighting greaves, and mask of avacyn. Hexproof and shroud are better than random landwalk.
Swiftfoot Boots, Lightning Greaves, and Mask of Avacyn all protect your creature from removal. Trailblazers Boots gives your creature evasion. They fill completely different roles.
@Th3Worst when most decks run Rouges passage its kinda useless. You can pay 0 to remove lightning greaves, make it unblockable with Rouge passage for 4 , and then put the shroud back on for free. Bonds of Dicipline work better, honestly. It taps your opponents board and gives life links. At 1 more total mana, it has a much better effect. You're also taking the gamble that they have non basic lands, meaning any mono colored deck is going to essentially be immune to it.
@@Exile559 Rogue's Passage is fine as a land, but it costs (essentially) 5 mana each turn you want to use it. Trailblazer's Boots costs 4 mana for the first creature, only 2 mana for any creatures afterward, and doesn't require a mana investment every turn. And even mono-colored decks play non-basic lands. If having an evasive creature is important to your deck, Trailblazer's Boots is a cost-effective way to accomplish that.
@@SteelCityBrad you just stated the flaw in its use, though. there are 1 drop spells that do the same thing. so, for 4 turns for 4 mana you can essentially do the same without leaving a target on the board. also, what do you classify as evasion? I see first strike death touch as evasion, since it insta kills anything without first strike or indestructible before their creature can do combat. lots of 1 drop that can perform said actions. sacrificing playability for a niche mechanic never actually ends well. why not just run things that get all your creatures through instead of just the 1? there's a reason why it doesn't end up in any of the precons, and with all the artifact destruction in commander its likely to become an extremely quick target of removal. the card is far too gimmicky to have effective play value. the only way it works effectively is if you're trying to 1 shot someone with something like Phage at turn 3 or 4.
I get that but you can do it multiple turns in a pinch, where command sphere is one time and you lose the mana rock. But i def understand what you mean.
I definitely gotta remember trailblazers boots when I'm building. I just always look for "can't be blocked" or trample and such when I'm looking for evasion so it never shows up in my searches. Definitely a cheap way to get evasion.
None of these cards are underrated they just are not good compared to the competitors. Would you run trailblazers over swiftfoot, greaves, or mithril coat? Binder’s ornament is still a 3 mana mana rock with a 4 mana draw one which is not great, and rumors will never out class thoughtseize, inquisition, or any of the other discard staples.

For 3 mana comander sphere is probably better cause u dont need to spend 4 to draw , 4 is a lot for a card to waste a slot for
