    I did a full gasket rebuild kit and new clutch on a 24v with 370k miles I just bought. These guy were amazing. Whenever I had questions they answered the phone and helped. Great products. Great support. This is how business should be run. Thanks guys!

    Be great to see the after market head makers build a true performance head for the Cummins.. Just as Air Research, Brodix.. Etc

    • @flipfloptanlines926
      @flipfloptanlines926 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      About time somebody else had some damn sense. Aluminum i imagine, would/does make the head gasket problems worse, but weight loss is power gained. If someone could get the engine package from 1000 pounds to say 700ish, reliable during performance use, the Cummins platform would be exploited by more racers and enthusiast. Theres been billet everything but cast parts from manufactures you mentioned is required to bring the cost down to a level to bring to the mainstream.

  • @RamTahoe
    @RamTahoe หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    What kind of gains do y'all think would be had with a baby turbo? I have a 63/73 he351 on my pull truck and feel a head would be a huge step up
    Edit for typo

    • @pddofficial
      @pddofficial  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The peak power difference would not be as dramatic but the difference as rpm climbs is always there no matter what turbo. I would think a pull truck that spends most of its time at high rpm would be the ultimate candidate for a ported head!

    I am curious as to what would happen on a stock cam and only slightly higher fuel rate in a towing/work truck scenario, the numbers look like these same effects would work just as well for fuel mileage and towing with minimal other upgrades.

    • @pddofficial
      @pddofficial  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I haven’t tested fuel mileage specifically because usually more mods come when people do a ported head. I will say that they make more power everywhere and with less boost so efficiency is up. I am up 2 mpg on my red 1500 horse mega but I also put in total seal gapless rings so i can’t say definitively that the head made the difference but i think it definitely helps!

    Lean is hot on a diesel? I dunno...

    • @pddofficial
      @pddofficial  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Lean is a relatively vague term. Technically 15:1 is lean and will actually have quite a bit of visible smoke and will be hot. 30:1 is also lean and will be transparent crystal clear and much lower EGT/overall temperature. Generally 18:1 to 20:1 range is hottest on the race trucks, leaner than 22:1 starts to cool off, richer than 14:1 starts to cool off.

      bought an upgraded oil pump that had obviously been used and returned. I had to have it or I would have sent it back.

    Biggest bottleneck on diesels is the intake and exhaust manifolds, then the exhaust piping.
    However, everyone seems too cheap and/or stupid to cast high-flow manifolds with equal-length runners on them.

    • @V8Lenny
      @V8Lenny หลายเดือนก่อน

      No they are not, usually they flow very well. Equal length is not for turbos.

  • @V8Lenny
    @V8Lenny หลายเดือนก่อน

    Would be easier to understand what happens if you didnt call it drive pressure. Pressure is not driving anything, it is mass flow of exhaust gases that spins turbocharger.

    Ya know what sucks? The 7.3l Ford diesel sucks! It is the biggest diesel for regular consumers yet it is also the WEAKEST! I've had over 50 cars & truck, never a diesel because I couldn't afford one. Finally I bought an 86 F350 that the previous owner blew up the 6.9 & replaced it with a turbocharged 7.3 from a 1990 E 350. I got it for a good price & I thought, WOW, I finally have a 7.3L monster! I don't know jack about diesel's except that they make tons of torque, or at least the smaller diesel's do anyway. My son started looking up torque specs for other diesels & all the smaller diesels put the big fat 7.3 to shame!! What in the hell is the point of a 7.3L when all the smaller diesels kick it's ass?! This really really gets under my skin! why make a big ol' fish like the 7.3 when even a 5.9 SIX CYLINDER kicks it's ass in a pulling match?! I mean damn it, my 7.3 has 2 more cylinders & it is a weak lame ass duck??? I don't care at all about the horsepower, I want my diesel to be a barney badass torque monster making 2,000lb ft of torque or more but instead of have the weakest damn diesel on the market. Why does International even make such a wimpy lame ass duck like that? Since I don't know a damn thing about diesels what would be the best way to bring the torque ratings up in this pathetically weak & very lame duck? Again, I don't care about horsepower, if I want to go fast I will get in my yukon with it's 6 liter ls engine, I just want TORQUE!

    • @hankclingingsmith8707
      @hankclingingsmith8707 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You bought the wrong year. You need direct injection 7.3 2002 with all the parts . Custom tuning,big turbo 180 cc injectors. It will make the power and torque of 2018 diesels

    • @joshuaquilliam2887
      @joshuaquilliam2887 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yah the idi international was a giant turd. My dad had the last year 93 turbo and what a giant turd. You need a 94-02 if you want more. But even those are turds in comparison to a Cummins. They make lots of noise, but go nowhere fast. They will pull just about anything though, and get good mileage doing it.
