- Secret Life is an odd mix of a Social and PvP Minecraft game started by Grian. Players are thrown into a tiny world with almost no rules, except survive as long as possible.
In Secret Life, players are given a random secret task to complete before the episode is over which rewards up to 10 hearts or bonus items. Easy Tasks can be rerolled once into a Hard Task which rewards up to 20 hearts or bonus items, but carries the penalty risk of losing 10 hearts if you fail it. If someone guesses your secret, it is no longer a secret, and you fail the secret task.
3 Lives = Green Player
2 Lives = Yellow Player
1 Life = Red Player
Red Players are given the goal of killing all the other players in the game.

I saw tango's pov first and I genuinely thought that dirt was part of the base. I had no clue it was hiding a shrine! Such an incredible disguise lol

The Secret mechanic is going to bring a very fresh kind of tension across the whole series because *everyone* is on edge for very different reasons. I might end up watching more perspectives than ever because of how each persons secret will change the scene.

After seeing the bdub's episode I assumed Etho was in trouble with his task, but the freaking reveal of it being stealing beds made it so amazing.
For real, I was so convinced. Etho rarely lies, but when he does its remarkably difficult to catch.

Then I see his task and recalled the moment Bdouble0 caught Etho breaking his bed, and Etho played it off as if he just couldnt find the door, and felt amazed at the on the spot acting.

I love how a task relatively simple was made difficult because it's the first episode. For what Etho had to go through I say it counts xD
Seeing the opposite side of these interactions is hilarious. Etho not laughing at Grian's bad jokes, and Etho being the inspiration behind Mumbo's chimney entrance. And I didn't know anything about Cleo's eviction notice. This episode didn't even mention the insanity with BigB's hole.

The crystal and debris Etho received are because the Secret won't heal you above 30 hearts. Instead, any leftover hearts will be converted into random items.

That task is hard during early game. Not to mention it's hardcore, no one expects you to die on the first night so there's no real rush for a bed. Great job on the strat, Etho!

Man the decision to remove health regen was so good. It already “uncontrives” red names. in past series red names only didn’t kill early because of content (I.e, you don’t want to end someone’s series too fast) which I always felt was a little forced. Now they’re naturally forced to pick and choose their battles because instigating is an unrecoverable decision.
I feel like Red names have always been hesitant to start battles out of fear of dying. Instigating combat as a Red name gives your opponent the chance to kill you. It's why traps have always been popular. This system allows for hit and run attrition damage to earn kills though and that will be interesting

I absolutely love this because of how obvious it is that everyone is having an absolute blast. You can tell Etho had a big smile on his face the whole time, and there was so much laughing. Absolutely lovely to watch and listen to!
Edit: also, for some reason, when Lizzy asked for a pink bed and Etho looked away, then down to the pink flowers, then back to Lizzy, it was super hilarious to me xD I think because 'physical humor' is so difficult to do in minecraft, and you nailed it there lol

I first saw Bdubs' POV and was fully convinced your task was indeed to get everyone to sleep. I was so worried you'd fail! That was so clutch at the end but so brilliantly executed. Truly masterminded that one.

"Without being caught" is modifying "collect 4 beds" and not "place them on a shrine". All the beds were collected without being caught, so it counts even if Cleo caught him building a shrine
I think one of the funniest things is the way etho gets out of the sheep pen and how it keeps changing shape

It would be so funny if you kept collecting other peoples beds as the series continues. I'd actually really like to see others continue with their tasks as well. As if by completing the task it became their identity for the whole series. That would be hilarious.

The task was beautifully done Etho! The tactic of giving out beds to people, pretending that your task is to get people to sleep, and sneaking carefully in the right timing, everything was just done very well and the fact that you made it just in time was the cherry on top

New season is here! I'm hyped! So many nods at the older seasons in this, from Boat Boys to Ethubs to an potential Etho-Cleo team up. Hiding your secret behind a fake secret was a really clever strategy, a true red herring that threw people off. I love that. What an amazing start to this season, and this new rule set!

Well, I just finished Cleo's episode. As usual, I always start any Life series with their first episode because Cleo just has that something something special. They're freakin' hilarious and they bring out it in everyone.
I can tell I'm going to love your series already from what I've seen. You've never based with any of the 3 people you end up with at the end and I am so excited. Do you know how long your community has been waiting to see you actually collab with Mumbo?! I mean, we had hoped it would be with redstone on Hermitcraft but this is the next best thing. I've also been hoping you'd team up with Grian for a Life series. We got a little taste of it in Limited Life but this will be interesting. And, of course Cleo. Etho bet on Cleo to die in Tango’s game and ended up telling Cleo this. She said “a bit rude, Etho”. To which Etho replied, “well, I know you like that kind of thing.”
Ever since they’ve had this weird friendly yet adversarial relationship throughout the Life series… and even on HC too.

Eventually, life gimmicks will run out. Then you can combine them.
Last Secret seems like it would be so interesting. The bogey would have different tasks, and if you died to a bogey you’d lose ten hearts but not lose a life (unless those ten heart would kill you,) and the bogey would get five.
Or maybe Double Secret, where each episode you get a secret that ties into another players, and you have to both find your partner and complete it.
Limited Secret: limited life, but you can get a few minutes back by doing your secret. Or you don’t know how much time you have, so people would just drop dead out of no where.
Secrets Last: where you don’t know how many lives you have, anywhere from 1-6.
I could go on, but I doubt many people are even reading this.
