@@lxs077 yes I hear you on that when I used to have my Nomad ,I would tote the AC Adaptor with me ,but later I found a work around that let me keep it "portable" , , the rechargable GameGear powerpack would power a Nomad too , and the GameGear Car power Adapter would also power a Nomad , , biggest complaint about the Nomad is that the GameGear had a better backlight ,,,😋👍
You know what the makers of these Everdrive like carts should do? They should go system on a chip and enable us the ability to store and play Sega CD games without the Sega CD.

I have a question: I got my 32X for my Mega Drive (PAL) for about 2 weeks. I use a chinese Everdrive MD-Plus. But when I play Knuckles Chaotix, it´s just won´t save the file. So every time there is no save state. Does this cart in your video saves the file, or must I look for an original of Krikzz? A quick answer would be nice.
The puzzling part here, they're using non-volatile memory to store the ROM when being played so, I guess, that it will remember the game once turned off, and if you put it on and want to play the same game again, it's instant, but with a massive write speed penalty for loading in a new ROM. If they used volatile RAM(memory that doesn't retain data once switched off) the load times would be almost completely eliminated. Considering your game is stored in non-volatile already on the SD card, having it again copied to another slow non-volatile chip inside the card makes no sense. Just stick a bit of volatile SRAM in there. Would likely be cheaper and last longer, too.
@@DukeDudeston But that's how old cartridge copiers work, they have a small amount of RAM that the floppy disk copies the game to prior to loading. I still have a SNES one, but the Mega Drive one was exactly the same.

Doesn't come pre loaded with games?? Then definitely not the best imo... last one you tested had the same load times but was pre loaded with games for just a few bucks more. 👌
Mine did. Make sure you get one that says KY Retro on the PCB. It's the one on the left that looks more like a name brand Everdrive internals. Loading times are like 6 to 10 seconds for me, sometimes faster depending on the game.
I have a question, Will these reproduction cartridges and Everdrives damage my consoles because I've heard that these cartridges output a different voltage and the boards are thicker than the originals?
Or for 10 bucks more you can get the Mega EverDrive x3 which can be updated to the latest firmware. Those clones are cloning the original Mega EverDrive and could be feeding the wrong voltage, i remember voltage being talked about a lot back then because some flashcarts were using more voltage than intended and could lead to premature damage on the console.

@@MasaCheez I dont claim to know.. but why would it need to read from SD card to write to Some other part of SD card? I suspect its erasing some flash memory in the cart itself and hence limited number of writes potentially (not that mfr cares!)
Cheers just scored one to use in a very early Japanese MegaDrive... Downloaded some ROM's and copied them into folders yet they never showed up on the MEGADRIVE although they are on the SD in alphabetical order when looking through the directory folders on the PC maybe done something wrong or is there a way to audit the newly saved games on the knockoff everdrive for them to show up and run? Would appreciate some help as only just sorted this out lately because Ima had the exact same model of console back in the day just removed the cartridge lock and it would play any region any game US /UK Japanese etc etc due to having the full SEGA arcade MEGADRIVE chipset inside unlike some EU or US or other clone MEGADRIVES...
The way I had to fix this was to create a new folder in the same directory as the pre-loaded ones, my fake Everdrive had numbers 001-009 so I created 010 TEST, popped a couple of files in and it worked fine. Hope this helps :)

He was running a (USA) Streets of Rage 2 ROM hack, the original PAL SOR2 had normal tempo music so it wasn't his console we should blame but the simple fact that it was the wrong ROM hack for the wrong system.
Garbage. I'm from Ukraine and it's much easier for me to buy original Mega Everdrive. 39 USD for X3. Even X7 is cheaper now - 99 VS 166 USD back in 2016.
Now if only I could buy a time machine and give this cart filled with games to my 9 y.o. self.

What like sega cd? Cos it won’t go higher than 7mb dump. The pro loads sega cd but that’s very expensive

So we had to choose between cheap clone everdrive for 40 euros (and get some load issues,) te real everdrive pro or for 200$.
yeah and people are trying to resell Everdrives for $300 - $500 now. I'll gladly wait the 30-60 seconds for $40.

When I selected an SMS game mine would initially show a black screen. I have to hit reset then the game would load.

@@methanoid got it! I didn't catch that it is writing to the cartridge. I just assumed it was reading from the SD card. That makes sense
@@methanoid some of the mega Everdrives have this, specifically the v3 which does have limited write cycles. The v3 has a 100k write life.
it wont be trash, you just need to replace the flash memory with new memory which would probably be cheaper than buying a new one.

Honestly for the price, I can forgive the loading times. However the Mega Everdrive x3 is like $40 so it's not much more expensive.
