He sounds a little different, a little raspier, a little less power, and the high notes sound a little farther away. It definitley doesn't like it's been 35 years. Dudes technique is just top notch, he hasn't damaged his instrument at all just some natural aging. He's hitting the high notes more consistantly than the 90s, probably due to sobriety and the lack of jumping around everywhere.
Im glad they play this in a lower key for jay to match his voice as he ages. If you listen to the older live sets its in a higher key. Man I would love to see these guys live . As a keys , Bass, Guitar synth and drum player this band has influenced my music playing since i was 13. 43 years old and i still Love the funk these guys play.
