You'd better be praying that you don't run into any DNR or Coast Guard vessels on your trip. They would board you for a safety inspection and that would be the end of the adventure, for sure. Good Luck!
Unfortunately that's very true if they run into the coast guard it's over if they didn't get PFD 's a fire extinguisher and most important a marine radio and is the boat even registered in his name? I enjoy reading the different post makes me Lol. Like ur post.
All they would have to do is tell them that they just bought the boat and they're trying to get it home and that would be the end of the the whole situation they're not going to fault you for trying to get your boat home

@T.L Hill oh my God keep touching the wrong button I had asked me last week so that was a delay in getting back to you reply anyways it may not be illegal where they are but it should be for the simple fact is in my home state of New Jersey it is Criminal hey Will for your license on your vehicle driving license and find you if you don't have proper registration numbers at the exact 3 and 1/2 in apart from the state to the numbers on each side of the boat they will find you if you don't have additional safety equipment including more than one fire extinguisher and most importantly a marine radio that cost like 25 bucks you could save their lives. And is that the higher you can put on that then if it saves their lives and which works more than their money more than $25 they got a bargain but it's illegal in New Jersey for the ages of buyers she had much more violations on the boat anyways but bottom line is it's illegal and they will take action total boating on top of it and third oldest expense

nice adventure.... about 25 year ago I bought a cal 21 fixer upper. Taught myself how to sail and never looked backed. I think the cat will be a lot of fun. By fun I mean a great learning adventure.
James is a radical cool dude.i worked for a a sand dredge and we used small tugboats and aluminum John boats, the best way to dock in a tight space was to nose up to the dock jump off and tie a bow line then use a little power and the boat will pivot on that and glide sideways to the dock.that boat needs to be recored,it probably had,balsa now you can install composites and save a lot of weight, there is a big job ahead but it's totally worth it restored cat of the make is worth

Wow just found ur channel , pretty cool .I use to drive a truck and go down 17 from Norfolk to Elizebeth city.I can remember them building those big bridges . Theres gators in that water People would pull over in the grass and watch em . I would see that channel along the road and wonder how it would be . I see now because of you !

Who says the younger generation doesn't have what it takes? These two got balls. They jumped right in and just start doing with get her done attitude. . The students will one day be the teachers. Flying by the seat of their pants. The boat looks like it survived planet of the apes. Its great.
There are bars and grocery stores near the lock. Also along the way there are great places to tie up and go to the stores and even bars and restaurants. I have had some great times moving boats south through there. There are signs that show how many miles you have to go to get to Miami and places along the way.
Heading up into the Chesapeake? We started there but are now in the Mediterranean. Sailed around Baltimore/Annapolis area for about 5 years and loved it there. Lots of good places to get parts as you work on your project and make her more beautiful :)
John Lanni and that is why we left! We are currently anchored in Gibraltar where there is no crime :) Tomorrow we raise anchor and start a 1000 mile sail across the Mediterranean to Sicily!
What you were seeing in the water around Elizabeth City was duckweed not algae still no fun to go thru. Also get yourself some Repel DEET 40 from Walmart sports section. You'll need it sometimes year round. Good luck!

Wow, no fenders yet. Get as many as you can carry soon. Also, get this stuff called "splash zone" . Its a type of underwater epoxy for leaks. You can dive in and apply it and as long as you are not eaten by a gator your boat won't sink lol.

We had a pop top on our cat so u have standing head room and a nice breeze make sure u can pop the front or back as well as the whole thing that way it either vents or funnels wind and heat

Each place you stopped at, should have been shopping on CL or similar for 'boat controls', find one somebodies scrapping, get a wheel assembly and cables to run back to the motor, to allow you to just drive from either the front, or somewhere you had better site and easier control. Would have done it before I left myself, and yes, have done it on several 'classics' of both sail and power.In fact a buddy collects wooden boats of larger size (he just bought a 41' late summer to add) and almost all of them needed them, so have some experience rigging them up.

Ah, gotcha. I'm pretty sure the boat is made by Nonsuch because that is called a wishbone boom, it's used to keep the sail in profile/filled properly. They are the only company I know that uses them.

That’s the Deep Creek draw bridge I live close to that bridge. It’s a small draw bridge and the traffic is terrible on rush hour.
