  • Introduction to the Pathways to Truth and Reconciliation: Organ Donation and Transplantation Café Scientifique (Canadian Session) and first presenter, Celia Deschambeault.
Celia is the Director of Education for Nisto Awasisak Memorial School in Cumberland House Cree Nation. She has worked in the area of Education for the past 20 years with a particular focus on Language revitalization, and her passion lies in supporting Indigenous people in their pursuit of language programming and creating resources. Her work includes creating an avenue of prioritizing Indigenous knowledge as a foundation for Indigenous education.
Celia is also an advocate for access to dialysis and transplant services for Indigenous patients in Saskatchewan, rural, and northern communities after seeing the challenges her uncle experienced in accessing dialysis outside his community. In 2011, Celia donated her kidney to her uncle.
