Thank you for caring for these puppies and the one year old, what beautiful & compassionate hearts 💞you both have!💕 Your Italian Villa is AMAZING! Can't wait to see the continued progress on it!
Many new homes install heat pumps, which can provide heating, air conditioning and even domestic hot water. Some heat pumps are set up for a hot water heating system with piping and radiators or underfloor heating, or with an air handler and ductwork, or with minisplits in each room. It's a relatively new technology, and if you consult three HVAC engineers they will probably propose three different kinds of systems. You'd be wise to visit homes that use different methods and see how happy the residents are with what they have. Welcome back! We missed you.
Thank you for your advice! Yes, the problem is as you have seen in our house is that we can't do any floor heating as that would ruin the floors, we can't do any extensive ductwork as we have painted ceilings and therefore no space to put the ducts and so on. Visiting similar homes around here is unfortunately very difficult and I guess most of them are very old fashioned and don't have any of these sort of things.

Heat pumps! One for each floor, appropriately sized. The EU recognizes the energy value and may have some incentives for installation and use. As an Architectural Engineer ( now long retired) I think they would work very well with what you would like to do. Ask your architect for their thoughts. The ductwork could run in the attic and basement, thereby preserving and protecting the amazing interior architectural details. Good luck and welcome back. We truly missed you two!
Thank you, but will a heat pump also provide cooling? We cannot run any ductwork in the basement or in the attic so we are very constrained to what kind of system we can do. We will most likely also have doors and windows open during summertime so we need the ability to cool down the place fairly fast once we close everything. Oh, and thank you for watching!
@@VillaAroldi Yes, a heat pump system can and does both, I.e. heating and cooling. Hey, glad you two are doing well and are back. Have you given thought to putting an HVAC system in the basement and installing duct work up through the floors to the first floor rooms. Then install a second HVAC unit in the attic and making vents in the ceiling of the second floor?
Yes I have, the problem is I don't have much space for the ductwork going between the different floors as we want to use both the attic and the basement. That's why I am considering Inverters and just do linesets to them and then from there just have very short ductwork.
@@VillaAroldi Well if memory serves me, you have a basement, main floor, second floor and then the attic. An HVAC unit in the attic will work for the attic and the second floor below. And an HVAC unit in the basement will serve the basement and the main floor above. So no duct work will be needed to run between the main floor and second floor, am I correct. Just install vent openings in the floor and ceiling. Close up the old vent openings in the walls.
@@Bill-xd4hk Yes that would work but it would turn those spaces unuseable and we want to have both of those spaces habitable so running any ducts there will not work unfortunately.
Ben tornati! I hope you have a productive time and a resolution to this delay with the windows that works for you. Are we sure that sweet little dog is only staying for a while???
I don’t know if you’ve heard of high velocity HVAC, very small hoses about the size of vacuum cleaner hoses run between the studs are in the spaces in your walls and they have a very small port that opens up into the room. Very very small it almost looks like a recessed light, and if your room is big enough, you can put two in the room or more I think but you might want to check that out. I know I’m late to this, but I didn’t see the video until today., I also understand American systems and European systems are totally different, but perhaps it’s something you would look into
We have hvac heat pump in our 2000 square foot brick house in South Carolina . The air handler is under the house and the compressor is outside. It’s very efficient with a 16 seer. We also have a 700 square foot guest house that has a mini split, it has 18 seer. The heat pump has a huge central portion with many ducts that go to each room. We use a set of propane gas logs in our family room this makes the house very comfortable. The heat pump is not what is used in the Northern part of the United States, They use huge oil heaters in their basements and supplement with mini splits. We had a vacation several years ago in Aruba, they use Mini splits. The last house we had we used a gas pack, it was an extremely hot heat which we loved. Our utilities run about $215 per month.
I am not an HVAC expert. I live in Tennessee, USA. I've had heat pumps that have worked very well for AC and heat. Need a fireplace for additional warmth when it's very cold out. Also, the ductwork might not be invisible in your villa. The outdoor units can be pretty noisy for the inside rooms near them. I have mini splits now. Very quiet and efficient, they are up on the wall near the ceilings. Mine are bigger than the vents you pointed out from the villa's old system. Maybe they make a more compact version.
Thank you! We have a split variant in the stables at the moment and the pump outside is right by the headrest of the bed and we can't notice it so I am not too worried about the noise as we will also sleep in the other end of the villa. The visible ductwork is the biggest problem, I need to see how much heat the system I choose produce as we have no means to make a fire in the villa for the winters.
Yes, we were offered that, but at the same time we knew the property was littered with stuff so mowing was not really an option before cleaning that up. When we left Italy we had no idea how long we were going to be away, initially we thought around 4 weeks, turned out to be 4 months.
