It was to easy for him to young from a kid teenager he got away with murder.. and wouldn't train hard go out play against best players in the uk .. score 10 goals everyone thought Leon and defoe were England's new top striker's Leon was actually rated higher by some people ability wise .. but defoe had a brain and worked hard and got even better he stayed a guy that was a talented lad but never fulfilled his potential expectations coaches had seeing him from a kid doing things you can't teach natural confident goalscorer.. but talented only gets you so far but he had enough talent without even trying he still made it pro made a living.. imagine he trained like a R7 guy would have played for England

I played with Leon at Raines Foundation Secondary School. The guy was a fantastic footballer but a complete bully. He suffers from the worst form of "victim syndrome". Everything else was always someone else's fault. He talks a good game. You'd think he was a world beater. He should be ashamed. His attitude stank.
Most of his old teammates don't like him, he fell out with most people at clubs.
He is entertaining because he's a bit of that, great player back in the day to be fair.

It seems like he is a maker of his own downfall, his career is all over the place, all the coaches & managers are trying to help & support him, make him a better player. It was like the whole world is against him.

For, Leon to be informed as a teenager whilst at Lilleshall as being "mad" after taking what seems some I.Q Test MUST have an impact upon his psychology including interaction with others.
A complex yet truly original is personality is Leon Knight.
I grew up with people like Leon, hes still a roadman and makes no bones about it, fair play lol. In that environment you take things personally, "this guys doing this to me because he thinks I wont do anything back!"
Never really know but what I think Leon didnt get perhaps was that you was scoring 21 goals in league one. Listen to the coaches and maybe you would have been scoring in the prem instead. Could be a case of him coming from Chelsea and going a step down to where the knowledge being given couldnt be taken seriously in his mind.
A funny guy though, I do miss that banter growing up

The truly successful elite Football Managers must be experts in psychology particularly the reverse methods to get individuals becoming a collective.

The part with Ince shows why Knight didn’t make the most of his potential; Ince won the double and captained England, played in a World Cup. If he asks you to do a little bit extra to improve, you do it.
But Knight had the better smelling breath!

Yeh but your not a professional player.... If you play professional women's football you have enough knowledge to commentate on the men's game and vice versa. Whether the individual is good enough that's a different reason

I'll give Knight his due. At least he's honest. Other than that he's a complete mug. Ended his career at Barnton in the NWCFL says it all.

Kevin Keegan left Newcastle in 1997, Leon Knight played for Huddersfield in 01-02 season.

Was the best young footballer in the country. Tipped as an English Pelé at the time, Adidas endorsement deal before it was common for academy players to have them. He's not lying about him being streets ahead of his peers at the time. I barged him off the ball couple times in our duals though and I "tucked" against his team lol

And as usual, he wasnt at fault for any of them. Any manager that spent any amount of time with him got rid. He also talks like he scored 200-300+ goals. Only scored at lower level. Most seasons didn't get any.

Its crazy guys that have won world cups champions leagues the lot .. but they didn't have the natural ability as a footballer than this guy .. when he was a teenager coming up he was on another level to guys that ended up English internationals Leon scored goals for fun against older bigger pros made it look easy him and defoe were both young striker's that were different class people thought leon was better .. but his attitude let him down and probably not needing to work as hard from a kid it just being easy give me the ball ill beat 3 guys score easy .. guy was scoring 10 goals a game then once turned pro you need to act train like a professional 😮 what i don't need to train run .. just play me ill score crazy thing he did alot of the time .. if he actually was obsessed with trying to be the best he could have been a big name he had the ability

What Leon doesn't understand about women's football is it doesn't have anywhere near the funding of the men's game...its in it's infancy..just like the men's game was in it's infancy it isn't as fast or silky as todays game. Way to go for Jon chickening out and sitting on the fence for women's football, while baldy chris just sits and smirks...at least Browny stuck up for it a bit but to be fair, you guys didn't do enough to challenge him on his outdated views...
Leon states it bang on about women's football it's crap..I'm female but I started playing in 1970 but only ever in lads teams then mens, barely any women played then they took it up as a hobby great they get excercise but some daft woman who ain't played proper mens football how can they pundit on something they've never done, no knowledge of history of football or players time more men got some balls and said exactly what he says stick to what you know . Alex Scott wtf she was 8 when Premier started..can't talk about a proper hospital ball, shoulder charge, sliding tackle. The women are so poor playing it's embarrassing even at international level and a pundit on TV if can't get to a game mute TV put the radio on...
