  • I found a valve other Lexus owners have been using for quite some time. These come in handy when you do your own oil changes. You can find these valves on Amazon and eBay for around $32. The model number is F103SX. Enjoy the video and please comment below and be as rude and obnoxious with jealousy if you want. I thrive on drama.

    You got the wrong type of Fumoto valve for your vehicle. Since your drain plug is on the belly of the oil tank, you should have chosen the original type, whose drain opening is facing down. What you got is for vehicles whose drain plug is on the side or slope of the oil tank.

    I've been using them since the late eighties. They even have ones for motorcycles and I've used them on both of my motorcycles. And I just installed one of the next generation valves my 2019 Chevy Silverado and I also bought one for my 2007 Suzuki GSXR 1000 street bike. Never had one fail ever. Not if your 14mm is 250 deg f and burns 3 layers of skin off your fingers. I’ve dropped that bolt in the oil pan plenty of times. It’s a mess.

  • @boblarson9171
    @boblarson9171 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I want one but I do not think with the design and threads all the way in the pan the oil will not fully drain.. take the valve off after draining is the only way to find out I guess

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bob, we're talking about a very minimal amount of oil left over. You also have to account for the thickness of the pan and not just look at the threads protruding out of the valve. Removing the valve defeats the purpose but i can see why you want to remove the valve one time to see the amount of oil coming out afterwards. I'm not too worried about it since i use Full Synthetic and i change it out every 5k miles.

    • @GXBOB

    @jaylmw08 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ 8:54 aren't you wrenching and torquing on the same bolt?

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The back up wrench is holding the valve body which has the capability of spinning. That's the good thing about the new and improved valve- you can turn it any way you want without loosening the bolt.

    • @jaylmw08
      @jaylmw08 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GXBOB but the valve body is a smooth cylinder, it has no edge for the wrench to hold onto. I kept rewinding the video and I still say the hex and wrench are on the same bolt that goes thru the valve body.

  • @surfordie82

    Bob, I love your channel, but I guess I just don't understand all of the hype over this valve. I mean, how f*cking hard is it to take out a drain bolt? Now, instead of the tried and true Toyota design with a fresh crush washer each time, you have multiple O-rings as potential points of failure and the the oil takes longer to drain through the valve. Sure, you save $1.00 each time on a crush washer; but at $30, it will take you 30 oil changes and 150,000 miles just to break even on this doohickey. Idk, this just seems like an answer to a question nobody asked.

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s not about the washer. It’s about draining your oil while it’s hot in order for it to drain out effectively. If you ever had to remove a drain bolt while it’s hot and have the bolt fall into the oil pan and also get third degree burns you’ll start appreciating the valve benefits.

    • @surfordie82

      @@GXBOB Got it! Well looks like it's a reliable product, so that's good to see. My solution... a thick pair of rubber gloves when removing the hot ass drain bolt.
