    I am a long time viewer of your GX 460 site and just wanted to say how much I appreciate the effort you put forth in order to make clear and concise service/ maintenance videos for your fellow 460 fans. Seriously, you do a fantastic job as I would not have tackled the differential/ T. Case service without your instruction. Of course, the icing on the cake is your irreverent sense of humor! So many you tube instructional videos are just boring, drag on and uninformative. Thanks for keeping it lite and for all you do.
    Cheers

    Great Explanation, BOB. Glad you ALSO explained, why you'd fill from one bottle to the next. The portion which you are NOT able to get drained due to the shortness of the tube. Meaning, it will not reach all the way to the bottom of each bottle.
    PS: Plus, the importance of torquing each bolt, and removing the Fill bolt FIRST.

    Hi Bob, what are your thoughts on hydraulic suspension oil replacement? According to Lexus, it should last a lifetime but Is there is such thing as lifetime fluid/oil? Mercedes ABC failure was caused by lifetime fluid. I have 95K miles on my 2014 GX Lux. Should I change it now, is this a DIY job? Can you please make a video about the type of oil we should use and how to do replace it?

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a lifetime for a reason if i think you're talking about what i think you're referring to. The hydraulic oil within the system and lines to ensure the suspension is working properly. To be honest, i wouldn't even bother. The worse that can happen is your airbags go out or the sensor fail. Both are replaceable. Not one time have i ever heard anyone do maintenance on the hydraulic system oil before and for good reason, there is no history of failure on the GX. I replace the components when they fail. Not because the oil caused the failure, its because the components have a "life" span. It will fail.

    Hey GXbob. I noticed in for the 2011 GX460 it mentions in the manual that I should put in 2.85qt of diff gear oil and you used 3.5 in the video could we have different diffs? thanks

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yo Yo Yo, i have never in my entire life used exactly what is called out because i always give a lot of wiggle room for overspills, do-overs, mistakes, angle of driveway incline, etc...if u know what i mean. In a perfect world, you're going to get pretty damn close to 3 quarts but my video did several shots and edits where i needed overage rather than underage because going back and forth to the auto parts store is a waste of time for me. Hence when i do my oil changes where it calls out for 8.2 quarts. i normally just buy 9-10 just in case. The over 3 quartz you saw me do doesn't ruin your differential since you know when to stop once you see the overspill and whatever you have left over is good for the next fluid change.

      I'm going to use what i'm going to use as listed in my videos. If you want to use alternatives then there are threads after threads of debate on Lexus and ih8mud forums that can answer that for you. i'm not in the business of comparing oils and keeping a truck 5 years to see if there are any improvements that come out of using a different weight oil. Thats like watching paint dry to me.

    What was your mileage when doing this diff oil change?

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe 75ish thousand. Here is a good link to follow. At the drop-down menu, click on 75k. I usually do the ones under "special driving conditions" at the bottom because i tow a boat and a travel trailer often. The differential, transfer case, and tranny are the first fluids i change every time i pick up a used vehicle because i have to assume the previous owner didn't care to.

    Hey Bob great video. I have a question. I have a 2014 Lexus GX460. Toyota/Lexus recommends to use a gear oil with the viscosity of GL-5 or equivalent. I want to change the gear oil on the rear and front diffs as well as the Transfer Case. I bought the Mobil 1 Synthetic 75w-90 LS. Is this equivalent or better that the Toyota GL-5 75W- 85 for the diffs and the Toyota Transfer Case Gear Oil LF 75W?

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      To be honest with you, If i had money coming out of my ears, i would pick everything OEM Lexus/Toyota. Only reason why i chose Mobil or Valvoline is because i confirmed its equivalence and its much cheaper. I've used Mobil 1 since the times of dinosaurs and it hasn't done me wrong, so.....yeah that my best answer.

    Thanks for a great video with detail explanations especially the torque specs. But I will never jack up a truck this heavy on my sloped drive way. It’s a big safety hazard. Also harbor freight torque is not accurate enough to use for these bolts. I recommend invest in a good one for those types of jobs
