That a mere mortal man could compose music like this , let alone this talented woman play it with such passion just totally blows my little mind. BRILLIANT !!
This is one, if not best, performance of Vivaldi's Winter version I have ever heard. The majesty that escapes from her fingers is simply incomparable. Thank you Mary Samuelsen.
I come back and watch this again & again, “Summer” too. Never was the phrase “a work of art” more appropriately used, in my opinion, than with Mari’s playing. I have played for 30+ yrs and listened to many of the great violinists. She’s in the league with Pearlman, Stern, & Menuhin as the excellence of her playing is beyond many if not most of her contemporaries I feel. Sheer power & beauty that I am fortunate to hear & watch in my lifetime.
@@ImmortalKingJay That one is also incredible. Actually more precise if you listen really carefuly! , yet Mari´s interpretation - at least to me - is more powerful because of the volume dynamics. It just captures the emotions of this wonderful piece better than any other. We´re so lucky to be able to hear all of this... :)
My most Favorite of Vivaldi's winter versions, so agressive and smooth at the same time, perfect timing, perfect synchronization, elegant and intelligent. Just beautiful from all❤️
Aggressive is a good way to describe it. I love this very much as I do Cynthia Freivogal's interpretation and performance. It is most instructive and. deeply rewarding to compare and contrast these two agents of wonder.
What a fabulous, fantastic, mesmerizing, magnificent, spectacular, & superb young violinist she is! W/ no qualms at all, she must be one of the virtuosos in terms of the dexterity in violin. Despite her youth, she has right tempo & undivided timing w/ precision ( needless to say, she nailed every single note.) So who could resist not to watch this impeccable performance again & again. In my dictionary, it is an unrivaled, unparalleled & nearly incomparable performance. It's indeed our privilege to enjoy & appreciate it at any time we wish to do for free on TH-cam. Whilst metal might not seem like so it does in fact cross at least two of these marks, henceforth it can be considered music and not noise. If you wish to say that metal is noise then anything could be considered noise, even the most melodic and ear-catching pieces could be considered noise.
This recording production in it's entirety, sound quality, camera panning in and out and recording individual orchestra members at precisely the correct moments and, of course, Mari herself, make this my favorite TH-cam music video.

I truly don’t understand how some people are not moved by classical music. I guess it’s a matter of beauty being in the eye of the beholder. I know, for me, there is no other artistic expression that can have me giggling nearly hysterically from pure joy one second, and bursting into tears the very next.
It's boring. And slow. But this. This...and "Summer" by Vivaldi have brought up emotions inside me only godlike music could. Do you have any recommendations? I think it's the fast violin and sudden changes (in..tone?) I like! It's mesmerizing.

Because it takes work and appreciation to enjoy this music, it’s not a 3 minute pop song, it takes careful listening to listen to it, it takes years of experience to play it.
It is her minute facial expressions that make her performance the best I've seen so far. It pulls you into the flow of the music, the voice of the violin.
Nah - the "100-th time club" here too 😜😜 But it was an easy pick for me - the Winter (even though I hate the season itsefl), second is Summer (my favourite season also), third is Autumn and lastly - Spring. But over the 20 years of listening to the four seasons - I realised that all four of them have their own charm. But as a tempo and rythm - Winter is a clear winner for me (as preference, that is).

When the music is really good, its genre doesn't matter in the least, everyone will appreciate it, regardless of their preferences. Epic.

Was driving to work very early, it was still dark and no other single car was in the road and I forgot the volume was high on… This played automatically (I don’t know why or how) and really HITTED ME!! I almost died and maybe didn’t because I was to busy crying my soul out… Its so overwhelmingly beautiful!!!
"Winter" from "The Seasons" of Vivaldi could not be singed most fiercely beautyfull than does this lady from in Norway, that sublime explosion of allegro from 1:10 onwards seems insane-as brilliant both in composition and interpretation. Viva Norway and Vivaldi for keeping the joy alive!

This is beyond an Intelligent Performance of Vivaldi's, Four Seasons: Winter; it's an Extremely Passionate Performance, with flawless synchronization. I've been following Ms. Samuelsen's musical performances, finding it wonderful how comfortable she is with the Traditional Classical, such as Vivaldi; as well as the modern Violin Composers... ~~CR~~
I now watched Perlman and Hope. And this one here just killed it because she's so much more aggressive, especially down in the lower notes. Seriously. How can the part from 3:00 on not bring anyone to tears. I am sitting here being all over the place. And her facial expressive is everything. - Unbelievable.

Every time I listen to this as if it's fresh and as if my first time. So full of energy and joy for me. The flow is so harmonious but the tempo fast. It makes me feel like a kid wanting to jump crazily to express the joy of living without any mentally created obstacles. Floating with the music just like walking on the air.

My favorite is Chloe Chua's Menuhin Competition finals, it's so delicate and the tempo is perfect, not too fast 🙈

Marie's version of Vivaldi's winter is the one I love the most. So far no one has shown this passion to play the violin.
This is the one of the fastest and greatest played violin single plays I even heard. Such a tension !!!

Представьте, столько веков прошло, и до сих пор мурашки по коже, такой кайф, проникаюсь душой и мозгом, качаю головой, как в свое время в хип хопе 90 годов. Но это абсолютно другое.
