I cannot imagine the experience of being present in a theater or music hall in the 16th century and hearing music such as this. It must have been otherworldly.
Vivaldi had to be the equivalent, in his time, of the heavy metal or hard rock virtuoso of our time. Bach was kind of more elevated, compositionally, more like The Beatles. Vivaldi was Eddie Van Halen or Metallica, or something. He wasn't ONLY that, of course, he could also do sublime. May Lord bless you to perform many years of your perfectly sensual performances because you feel the vibrations of the violin and your young age proves my words ... I also hope that you teach, & help the young generation to find themselves in the world of classic music ...
I do the same with Mendelssohn's violin concerto. Isn't it wonderful that music can have that power? And yes, interrupting classical music is sacrilege.
I think about that every day but what really blasts my mind is how, how the composers did these works.. without any kind of computer, audio recorders, just a bag full of passion, ofc my eyes are starting to tear, i just can't absorb all the good matter i am listening to.
100% agree! I searched for hours and hours for this, I never knew the name of it. Always loved it. But is it just me, that I think this is more fitting to Autumn, like, I picture leaves falling, and a sad kind of tragedy of things falling apart wilting, dying, and falling down.
I love this performance. It is so magnificent, and I am breath holding each time I hear it. I probably heard it at least a hundred time performed by this gifted Samuelson. Hat off to her.
I'd say it's about equal to Sirena Huang's 2010 performance when she was only about 16. Unfortunately that vid seems to have been scrubbed from TH-cam and it was spectacular. If anyone has a link please ping me. It was at the Daniel Pearl Memorial Concert. My life will not be complete unless I get to see that again.
Vivaldi was an ordained priest, a born again man of God who wrote this music for his Creator. Money and fame means little to a man of this character. He is indeed in Heaven with God and very much aware of the gift he was given and the Grace that allowed him to share it with us.
I can honestly say this version is borderline perfection, the emotions it stirs in me are unreal. I listen to Mari playing this weekly. Absolutely spectacular, the passion in her face show how much she felt it and that is conveyed in the video. Bravo
It is not perfect because there is a mistake at minute 9:52. What's more, the person behind Mari notices it. Watch his expression, in his eyes, in that quick look that says "Hey, what happened there?"
@@awe331 Thanks for the update... What a bit like a darts player? No disrespect but I think there's something a little bit more going on. I do not, and will never understand, those who claim not to like classical music. Edit: I'm not saying classical music is superior to other music, all music has a purpose, and each to their own. I'm simply saying, I do not understand how you cannot at least appreciate the genre. You won't find other music like it, apart from maybe film/tv-soundtracks.... and actually metal has elements of classical expression too... hmm... still, I think you get what I mean lol.

No no, there's a mistake. Pieces like these classics are never played with music sheet, theyre like concerts for violin, anyone play it with sheet music, and it's because everything have to be played close and on scales, s it's not hard to learn it. And even if she had it, IT'S NOT TOO FAST TO READ IT, that's experience reading violin sheets
Obviously you have to learn it, but that is what BRAIN does unconsciously, but you can have the music sheet and follow it? Yes. And in this pieces A LOT OF NOTES ARE REPEATED, so it's not hard to read them, just a few parts on the Presto that change strings continued

Way different wavelengths we are on: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%C3%A9lo%C3%AFse. Now I most watch this movie I hitherto never heard of. Based on the summary, the name Heloise was no accident.
Music can be terrifying but not hopeless. I am astonished at Vivaldi’s Summer from four seasons. I’ve listened to it countless times but today it left me in amazement. Once you see what the violins speak of, all sorts of horrifying images begin to unravel. Suffering, hardship heavy to the core, shaking your soul and tearing into hope. On the brink of collapse, on the edge of demise instruments squeal about a brave soul captured in the worst hurricane of life, losing everything. Impossible grief comes soon after. Tragic pain and regret. Of how beautiful were the sunsets, of the sweet past gone, gone forever. The empty stumbling around, lost, weeping to the skies, begging to the memories and punished by tragic fate. And still, stumbling forward, choosing to breath. The segment ends with a last cry/mourn of a single violin. Dissolving into silence goes its last breath, ending the segment. Undefeated by chaos it finally parishes into the void. Vivaldi touched something so powerful and true. He filled our heart with tragedy and put hope up against it. A journey of the soul, a terrifying, catastrophic journey which ends with death but not with defeat. Everything can be destroyed and killed, but a strong human soul will not be defeated.
this is a hot, dry summer. dead, dry leaves are on the ground. the crows are fed. this recording doesn't capture all the lows (or highs). incredible performance!

It amazes me that half of the violinists behind Mari weren't aware that she was going to play ALL the portions of Summer. Thay didn't realize she wasn't there for just the Storm part, which is probably the most well-known and astounding. Great commentary on Vivaldi admirers.

If I had one dying wish it would be to hear Mari at a live concert playing Vivaldi .
I love this performance. It is so magnificent, and I am breath holding each time I hear it. I probably heard it at least a hundred time performed by this gifted Samuelson. Hat off to her.

Vivaldi was an ordained priest, a born again man of God who wrote this music for his Creator. Money and fame means little to a man of this character. He is indeed in Heaven with God and very much aware of the gift he was given and the Grace that allowed him to share it with us.
I bet he would love seeing it's on youtube

I can honestly say this version is borderline perfection, the emotions it stirs in me are unreal. I listen to Mari playing this weekly. Absolutely spectacular, the passion in her face show how much she felt it and that is conveyed in the video. Bravo

Once you learn to play a piece, memorizing it isn't too difficult
Paula Kotowicz
1. Memorizing isnt the difficulty if you're learning this kind of music.
2. That's not reading anymore. If youre playing this musik the notes just stay for your back. Im playing the piano without reading the notes Weile playing but ones the notes are away i make more misttakes. I cant Really describe it but its like it is
No no, there's a mistake.
Paula Kotowicz there are some music pieces that I know by heart. Just lots of practice
This is some exciting stuff. Can you imagine hearing this back in the baroque period. I'd bet audiences were in shock.
