    Dawson is every kid with their dad telling 'em what to do when they're already doing it right. I'm late 50's Dawson and I still feel your pain dude. The flip side is when dad is old and retired and he wants to work on your jobs just to get out of the house. You get to do the same exact thing right back to him. Feels great, trust me!

    Best video I've seen about the RS 800. I used my poulan pro commercially for four seasons without issues.

    Great VID. Before you take anything apart go after the problem with air and water. Pull the battery and the holder and spend 2 minutes with your leaf blower on the top of the deck and transmission. Then swap to your pressure washer and wash everything till you are getting nothing more out from under there. Solidified grass clippings are the most likely problem. You may be amazed at what you see that comes out in the form of little grass bricks. I had my Poulan Pro run for about a hundred hours before this problem cropped up. Took me about an hour to fix it. Repeat once a month during mowing season, and again before winterizing and storage.

    great video. I ran into the same problem getting that nut off. I used a vise grips at the very top of the shaft where marring is not an issue. before re- assembly I cleaned the burr off the top of shaft. Tractor is working again due to your video. Thank you very much. You are teaching your son how to think before he acts, I did the same thing with my kid. Now he can fix anything. p.s. that bearing can be greased, there is a screw down there. you can take the screw out and put grease in it. Excellent job

    I also have a YTA 18542 and the shift pedal to reverse is not working properly. Also the disengage rod on the rear doesn't work properly, as well. This is exactly the video I've been searching for. Great video and thank you!

    Grass jammed the mechanism. I bought one in 2009. There are no covers on the top of my transmission. About every 5 years, I remove the battery and vacuum all the packed grass out of the top of it using a screwdriver to loosen it up. An air compressor would be better, but I don't have one. I blow the mower base clean with a leaf blower after cutting. It will get 99% of the grass off the base. Water is a bad idea due to rusting. Leaving it outside uncovered is not recommended.
    The axle seals eventually leak. Glue the new ones in with silicone sealant so they don't work loose. Those transmissions never need grease added. Do not pressure wash them.

    On the plastic Tran it’s just easier to drop the Tran out and press wash it really good before working on it 😊
    We have grassburrs and you can’t really get them out without sticking yourself

    I have to agree, i moved my battery to back of mower on a metal frame so i can pressure wash tranny evrry time i mow to remove grass and dirt. And lube things. Also spray belt dressing on belts.

    Thank you Guys on this great and detailed video and I have exactly the same sticking issue with the same Husqvarna lawn tractor, what a coincident. I only want to ask how Dawson lifted the the forward and backward lever from the transmission before pulling it out of the tractor, that is about 14.59 minutes from the start of the video. There is some kind of washer or clip holding the metal lever to the part on the transmission that you showed in the beginning that was sticking when pushed back and forth by the lever. So do we just pull the metal lever from the arm without doing anything to the clip that is holding it on the arm?

  • @dmac2703
    @dmac2703 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    looks like the bearing is missing on the control arm which allows more play/binding in the groove of the rotation cam

    That’s why I’m looking for this video. That top of that cover is cracked on mine and it started immediately getting stuck in gear unless you used the brake. I’m ansie to see what he has to say about the binding underneath that cover because that’s what I seem to be coming across but wanted to see someone else ruin their transmission before I opened mine up for the second time.

    There is no pulleys on the transmission. Those are your primary and secondary centrifugal clutches.

    The problem is it's made of plastic . Low speed friction can do the same damage as high speed over time . Even with metal guides there will be heat transfer to the plastic . Too many plastic moving parts in the dirt and grass area . Just bad design and poor quality parts . Never tow a yard trailer with a load . This transmission will not hold up if operators are too heavy , the plastic will flex . Extra weight from bags plus operator is too much . NEVER buy a tractor with a plastic transmission ! JUNK !

    My opinion- WORST transmission EVER. just look at its application history- only used for a short period of time. Wrnt back to the k46. One thing I'll give it though is the manufacturer is great fo work with, and probably has THE BESF service manual for this transmission i have ever seen for ANY product
