Great work here. If I had to comment on any one thing (which I'm reluctant to do, this is so awesome), the bass seems to be lacking a lot of punch or depth for some reason. I'm not sure if it's just this particular video ('cause I DEFINITELY felt it proper with the Astral Observatory mix), but some things like the lower strings in the Mayor's Office didn't feel like they were hitting, if that makes sense. But definitely don't focus on that, I really should be writing just as much about how good everything is. Lovely work, my dawg 👌
I’ve been selectively mixing this mod with the N64 soundtrack mod for a bit now. There are quite a few tracks here that are (in my opinion) straight up improvements over the originals. I’d love for you too keep up the work, as this is too awesome to just die.
Thank you! For some of the tracks that you dont prefer over the original, please let me know what you don’t like about them so I can improve them, that would be awesome!
StarBender I’ve thought about it in the past, but I’m hesitant to give my feedback for a few reasons. Firstly, a lot of my problems are subjective and down to individual preference. I feel that just because I might not be a fan of one track doesn’t mean that others necessarily agree. I don’t think it’s possible to please everyone. Secondly, I have absolutely zero knowledge on writing or conducting music, instrumentation, audio balance, or anything of that nature. You’d essentially be receiving advice from someone who, in all likelihood, is far less qualified then yourself. All I have is an intense love for Majora’s Mask’s soundtrack and some strong opinions about said soundtrack. Frankly, I’m happy with the overall product and I’m very excited to see where this goes. If you still want my silly opinions, just let me know. I’m on Nerrel’s discord servers, in addition to your own.
TheArch1v1st Don’t think about it too much, and of the problems you have with the music might be actual issues and not just preferences and could be helpful. Lmk on discord if you’d like!
Overall this sounds really, really good. Great job man! So many orchestrations of N64 songs stray way to far from the original. I like how you acknowledge that some of the N64 instruments can be left, but some need changing. So many people just completely throw them out.
THIS IS GREAT. Been getting into 3ds modding lately and this is what I needed. Hope you keep going! The volume is sounding great, only reason I haven't been using the n64 conversion death did is the volume is just a little too low I think. No issues here. Very lovingly remastered.
In the future when Citra emulation is more mature this mod will blow up, great work! I'm usually picky when it comes to visual/music mods for N64 games but this sounds very faithful.
Just made it to the Zora Hall for my first piece of feedback. It all sounds great but there is one drum that I think takes a little too much of the space? It's the deeper more reverberated one. I think it sounds good, it just takes my attention away from the rest of the song. if there's away to dial that one drum down without switching the sample or whatever that would rock.
I understand. I had so much trouble finding a good enough sample for that. I'll see if I can just use the original sample for that in an update. Thanks for the feedback!
@@starbender5468 no thank you! Again, over all this is really doing the trick for me. Clock town day 1 2 and 3 sound perfect, and those are my favorite tunes.
Ok this is genuinely impressive. So many great mods for this game currently I really have to play it again “remastered”. I hope you complete the whole soundtrack one day! Keep it up!
I don't know how to mod I just think this is neat af :D Keep up the fantastic work! Edit: I wanted to add that the chords of the original Guru-Guru's Song go from ear to ear to give the feeling of spinning around as his name suggests. Are my speakers too crappy (very likely!) or is it missing in the remastered version?
Alijah Askew If you use the download in the “Album” section, there are MP3s and FLACs of all of the songs that I’ve done so far... let me know if you need any help :)
The problem with the 3DS remake for MM is that they changed far too much. Game play and music alike took a dip in quality. The music notably got smearer in reverb that really didn't need it and drowned out some of the instrumentation or made it sound weaker because of that.
Yeah ur def right. It's been years since I have worked on this. I would definitely go back and try to match the original style closer in most songs. Kinda rushed some as well using random libraries and soundfonts I had on my hard drive. Also the reverb is borderline obnoxious in certain remasters lol.
@@starbender5468 oh hey again, sorry but I dont like the revisions for the jingles, can you tell me which files these are? (for example rupees from a chest)
Where I can get this mod?
Its in the GitHub link in the description :) Keep in mind it is only for the 3DS version
@@starbender5468 but this is a mod only for the music of the game? Or like it's part of a Majora's Mask 3D remaster? (like that HD textures and stuff)
@@frog458 It's just for the music, nothing else is changed
@@starbender5468 thanks! :)
@@frog458 sure!

Wow. You perfected clock town. The original 3ds feels messed up.

yeah its in the original but not there in the remaster, I hadn't even noticed until you pointed it out

The sound mixing of the remastered one is off. Some parts are louder than the main sound
Does it work for the european version of the restoration mod?

Some are a hit or miss. Some instruments sound completely different or hit differently like the tambourine for the song of storms.

is this still on or did you drop the project?
Ive found this one after having found another pack already, that one is 225mb while this one is 106, huh
which one should we use now?
honestly i havent worked on it in over a year, so probably the other one 😅
@@starbender5468 so I figured yours is really remastered while the other one is a straight port from N64

honestly termina field's remastered version doesn't y'know- *HIT* as hard as the original
I thoughr the same. The remaster is great but some songs aren't as punchy
this project dead?
