@@dgarita99 I completely agree, Lars' snare is savage during that performance. Also check out Sad but True live at Day on the Green '91, Moscow and Day on the Green might be the best snare sound I've ever heard
Hetfield is the only singer in the history of metal or maybe music, who combined melody voice with agression, and still understandable... what a fucking voice !!!
look up the misfits (I think he was inspired by them.) Anyways misfits was also a melodie punk band who made one of the best songs including last caress. No one does it better that glenn danzig
Phil Anselmo did it pretty good too. One thing that no one will ever do as good as Hetfield is sing and play at the same time! Just look at Battery from this show, it's unreal! /,,/( °o°)/,,/
Not knocking this tone- arguably the best gig Metallica ever played! But check out Harvester of Sorrow live in Moscow 1991. The guitar tone is absolutely out of this world- I’ve never heard anything like it!
you just don't know, brother. it is different. but I can tell you, from an old head that was there, it has changed. I also realize you can't sing/play like that forever.
@@AngelofAnguish lol calm down. I realize it's a generalization. The vast majority, however, are not able to do so or do not do so. also, THANK YOU FOR THE COMMENT BUT NOT SURE WHY THE RANDOM CAPS!
My first concert was the Black Album tour. Seeing One performed live was what I've always thought a religious experience felt like to the insanely devout. I'd been bullied daily for ten years of school, then I was suddenly surrounded by thousands of people who were part of my tribe, all moving, all feeling the fucking energy. Moon was full overhead. No show ever quite matched that first one for me, though NIN in 95 and RATM came close to the same magic.
They need to suk it up and kiss Jason’s ass and bring him back. The crowd feeds off his energy and enthusiasm. Jason’s attitude while playing IS Metallica.
I'm definitely glad that I seen them when Jason was still in the band and they were in their prime but God I wish I could have freaking seen them with cliff
Say what you want about Jason Newstead but his secondary vocals were the perfect touch. We can all agree that Cliff will always be #1 but Jason is a solid second purely for the energy (and good bass skills) he brought to the table when he was younger. I mean that scream at 8:40 was just phenomenal!
If Metallica had played all the songs on that night continuously without stopping... I think 200 people would have fainted. 500 would have gone mad..And the rest would have died from whiplash!
are you sure this is 1989? i dont think so.. jason would not be singing whiplash vocals at this point. this is from black album tour band image fits it more but maybe im wrong but probally not. i mean they tunred his bass off the record do you think they let him sing vocals too? its a few years later but prove me wrong. all good \m/ stage has no justice for all set plus "dickrash" its from live shit video. that had 2 vids(seatle 89/mexico92?? this is wrong video ..but maybe im wrong... anyway regardless im drunk and its great video so yeah thanks for sharing!!! i got the old box sets for this and the newer one and my wife got me another one of the dvd/cd one for free from her work .. salvos.. \m/ \m/ thanks for sharing cranking this up loud!!
When lars' snare sounded like a bomb
SuckingLimes You HAVE to listen to the snare on Sad But True at Moscow 91’, but the version with the “newest” audio.
@@dgarita99 I completely agree, Lars' snare is savage during that performance. Also check out Sad but True live at Day on the Green '91, Moscow and Day on the Green might be the best snare sound I've ever heard

Same as kirk, and james

Metallica's Last caress is so much faster than misfits its fucking brutal
Clarke Tracey misfits has that authentic punk feel to it though
There’s a sped up version of last caress by the misfits ( which is better than the original which is too slow imo )
Misfits 7/10
Metallica 10/10
wouldnt have the brutal version without the og brutal version
cant compare the 2 as one is punk and one USED to be thrash
The guitars are slick as hell, and the drums are so crisp. It’s definitely a great cover.
They have the attitude, the musicality, the strength, the rage, they have the power, the best band of all times
In my opinion, that is until the "black album," came out! What's the matter or What's wrong with the "black album?" Honestly or Seriously?
The ability to put an amazing song on a different level.
Fue, hace 20 años que solo son un chiste de lo que eran, claro ganando millones con sus horribles discos de estos últimos 20 años

The double bass during whiplash. its godly.
😀😆😂🤣💀
8:27 I love the tone in Jason's voice and that smile! "Yeeeagh, whiplash >:)"
So Metal back then saw them 4x on this tour.Saw them 34x in life hope i can see them one more time but my health is in bad shape trying to hold on...
Thomas Ackerly I’m rooting for ya Thomas:)
Dude you are a true hero \m/
You still with us brother? I hope you were able to catch them again
Been some years hopefully you’re still with us and have gotten to see them or plan to see them. Take care🙏
I guess this guy is Dead.
Bring a smart phone to that concert, it would be smashed into a million pieces!
And i dont think people with destroy something from the future
@@dicer-2657 I think they would Cuz ppl are destroying stuff from the Past I'm I correct on that
I wish I could smash their phones now. Put them away and enjoy the show
The drum sound was fucking amazing on this gig.
This is the Metallica i grew up listening to...M.E.T.A.L.L.I.C.A!!
The '80s Metallica will ALWAYS BE MY METALLICA!
Such POWER here. What a badass James was!
....and Jason, Lars and Kirk
cant get much better than this era in metal music
and probably never will
happy new years people
When you're putting in more then your audience. Back when they were who they should've always been. Fucking amazing video.
50 year old men still rocking, while I get up for work and haven't lived a .00001% of the epic life they still live.
Jason was insane here. Great vocals too .. headbanging
I love how they let Jason sing a verse for Whiplash.
James - his vocals - added to great songs - was what put them ahead of all other metal bands. It was not just shouting, it had melody. It was cool af.
0:09 everyone telling James "HEY, FUCK UP YOUR VOICE AGAIN IT'S SOUNDING TOO CLEAN"
I wish Metallica covered AC/DC's 'Hells Bells' and Black Sabbath's 'War Pigs' during this era! It would've been super heavy.
Whiplash sounds 10x more awesome played at this speed than what it does on the studio version.
James voice was freakin incredible back then.

3:17 That was a life changing moment for this Metallica fan, I hope she still tells the story of this night
Saw this tour at 17 in 1989. Deer Creek, Noblesville Indiana. Absolutely the best show I have ever seen.
what a great cover .. they are so young and so beautiful . perfect concert.
I saw them in Duluth Minnesota on this tour. Back when General admission meant do all that is necessary to get by the stage.
Can’t get better than this… so happy that I lived through this times!!!
This is in Seattle circa 1989...I was at this concert. It's from the Live Shit Binge and Purge box set.
@CVM GAM you dont know that
Yes all my favorite songs❤❤❤❤
THIS is Metallica.
Man....as much as I like new Metallica, I really wish they could be this awesome again.

Nah, Rob rules and is a better player. Jason's time has passed.
Not even close. Every Bass player they have had brought it.
89 Damaged Justice and Tour. Saw them at Horden Pavilion in Sydney.
We all get old even metal God's the energy the power from the fans and the band is amazing ...
pure thrash
Expect for last caress that's punk. Still kind of the same shit tho.

I can’t decide who’s more entertaining
The band or the audience and it don’t matter cause

These songs are refreshing lol especially with the shit going on nowadays lol I needed to run across this today thank you!!!!!
It’s now 2024, Metallics still going hard and strong 🤘🤘🤘
Thier barely half of what they were. Metallica is a bunch of soft, wealthy old men now. But if you like blues based hard rock thier your ticket lol.

Jason's vocals were great but his playing was just ok. Rob is way better
3:33 love how Jason plays cliffs original bass fill (it’s kinda hard to hear). Jason always paid respect to cliff in the smallest moments like that😢

They were so comfortable around one another at this point.
