    • @Spartanm333
      @Spartanm333 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@my-t-mikedaly607 You could say that George Harrison invented this set up 30 years ago in Bob Dylan's kitchen - it was immediate, authentic, a bunch of friends having a jam. They wrote seven songs in seven days and accidentally launched a new super group - The Traveling Wilburys. His presence here would have been interesting, bearing in mind the format and reunited with his old rooming buddy Ringo.
      Daryl Hall 'borrowed' the 'Wilbury' idea and put it on TH-cam, although George didn't do it for celebrity, sponsorship or likes. It was born out of a visit to Bob's house to use his home studio in order to get a song down, friends arriving, jamming together and having a good time. Jim Keltner's drums were his sticks on the kitchen pots and pans. And there was no rehearsal.
      Oh and he created the guitar part and played lead on this, one of his contributions that inspired The Eagles and just about everyone else: th-cam.com/video/M4vbJQ-MrKo/w-d-xo.html

Unless you're a bass player that thinks the bass should be more prominent in the mix then everything else you're wrong, the bass can be heard fine, perfectly in this mix. Also, the most prominent aspect of this song is, and always has been, the guitar and then vocals, even though the bass and drums are phenomenal on the original track too. The guitar makes it funky, and then everyone else adds to the funk. Please get your ears checked if you sincerely can't hear the bass on this. Cheers and take care man.

    Didn’t really realize it, but, watching Ringo over the past several years with the ease with what she plays the drums blows my mind. He is so relaxed, and his ultimate simplicity is ultimate sophistication if your musician, and you watch him for a while, and begin to analyze what he’s doing. you’re amazing Ringo What an honor to live and experience your journey with you. Thanks for the lessons over the years.

    I love this, and I am one of the luckiest people I know. I had the rare pleasure of working and even playing music with some of these legendary musicians. I worked in advertising for some great brands like Budweiser, Jack Daniel's, SWBell, and produced many music tracks with Leland and Russ and top LA and NY session players, and then as a sax player, my band, Mamas Pride, got the opening slot for Ringo's All Starr Band in 1992 in St. Louis and Kansas City. There was a lot of back stage socializing at Riverport and Sandstone amphitheaters and I was able to get a few words with Ringo, Joe Walsh, Tim Schmitt, Burton Cummings, Todd Rundgren, Timmy Capello and Dave Edmunds, with whom I had spent a couple of days at Ocean Way Studio in LA recording him for Budweiser a couple of years earlier. At the Riverport soundcheck he stopped me and said, "Where do I know you from, mate?" I said the Budweiser session at Ocean Way, and he grabbed my shoulders like we were old friends, "The Budweiser guy! I knew I knew you from somewhere - and you're a sax player! Good show!" He had enjoyed the Budweiser session - and the money, too. And as my band filed past Joe Walsh to walk out on stage to open the show, Joe growled at each of us humorously and said, "Don't play too good, now. Don't make us look bad. You better suck." and a string of threats. He was always fun and making with jokes. All of them were very friendly and made this part-time sax player's best memory in the music biz.

      That’s because ringo plays the simplest drums on the planet. It’s not hard to do what ringo does and I never understood why he gets so much credit.
      Zero distinct sound, zero original fills or beats, ringo is the most overrated drummer of all time.

Ringo is so good and very comical. When there are dual drummers he gives the other drummer looks, too funny. He tends to laugh after he does it. I LOVE this a lot!

    I've loved this song since it was released (and have the vinyl.) This is my new favorite version.
    When your backing musicians have been honing their chops for 50 years, magic happens. Ringo and Russ are two kits, four hands, and one controlling mind. Their synchronization is effortless. Joe and Waddy have complimentary styles, and fit together perfectly. I don't think Leland has met a bass part in over 40 years he couldn't play exactly as required by the song, first take And who else besides Benmont would you get to play keyboards?
    Leland talked about this session on his Vlog. Walsh is apparently a trip in person, and all concerned had a ball playing on this. This is one of those sessions where I'd really want to be a fly on the wall watching and listening. I'm willing to bet they did a run through, just to sort out who would do what, when, and then it was "first take live" because they are good enough to _do_ that.
    EDIT: Poking around a bit more, _no_ run through. They were noodling in the studio, Joe started playing the Funk 49 intro, and everyone said "We know that song!" and started playing on it. No rehearsal. No figuring out what their parts had to be. They just played it perfectly because they've been doing it for 50 years. This session is a master class in how it's done.
