BLS - another vendor, packages each cell in an electrostatic bag, inside it's own box inside the foam lined outer box, and includes studs, serrated nuts and extra copper busbars with each set. Cost is slightly higher.
I have found you can specify bolts or Allen wrench terminal studs when you place an order. On my last order (which is in transit and was not from Bassen) I specified studs with washers and nuts and the exact number of busbars I wanted too. I wanted enough busbars to connect all the cells in parallel to top balance them. Busbars were only $1/each. It was easy to get what I wanted, but maybe not so with other suppliers. It can't hurt to ask when you place your order. Just be very clear and make sure they understand. Communication can be difficult with some. Buying the studs and washer with nuts isn't cheap here in the US so I'd be sure to ask. When you buy from companies that ship from US stock, it seems you can't get what terminal style you want or the numbers of busbars you want. Its all pre-packaged.
Good ideas but the "bolts" are called studs. I was hoping you would give us your preference between the two cells and why. Do you have a preference and if so, why?
You're 100% right, but I bought them at the bolt depot - and they do look like bolts without a head. They are actually called "set screws" on the website. When I think studs, I think framing studs (but you are right!). Anyway, I don't have a strong preference, they are genuinely indistinguishable in every key way. I think there is some preference for Eve cells on the diysolar forum, largely because they have been around for a while and consequently people trust them more. One commentator on another video also said he had a better experience with Eve, but I can't verify that. At the same time, Eve tend to be more expensive and harder to find - so maybe you are more likely to get a low quality example because of their general scarcity. When I ordered mine (both from Basen) I found the Lishen to be in slightly better shape. If I had to choose I would probably lean towards Eve, but honestly the most important thing is trusting your supplier. I've listed the links Will Prowse uses on Aliexpress, and he know more than anyone, so I would expect those to be decent suppliers. On Alibaba, I ordered from Basen and had a good experience, and I've heard people have good experience with Xuba.
Hi folks, i have made several orders from Shenzhen Basen. On the last delivery all cells were defective. After a full charge, the voltage dropped to 3.33 volts within 2 hours, one cell was completely without function. Shenzhen Basen had promised a refund but has not yet made it. The request for a refund from Alibaba was unsuccessful because Basen agreed to the refund but never sent a return label. After 14 days, Alibaba will close the case and Shenzhen Basen has bypassed the refund.
That's terrible news, I had such a positive experience. One thing I will say is that if you charge your cells up to 3.65 they will settle down in voltage after a couple hours - to 3.4~3.5. I honestly don't think they should go as low as you saw, but you may want to try charging at a lower rate to 3.65 and see what happens. If your batteries are defective it is much more likely they hold no charge at all, or they have much lower capacity than advertised, than what you are experiencing. I wouldn't necessarily give up on them yet.
I just found your channel and it's very informative. I wanted to ask about the studs/set screws that you used. Why is that an advantage over a bolt? As long as you used the correct sized bolt wouldn't that work just as well?
Bolts are fine, but I find that they can just be really annoying to work with. Also, they are often too short, so if you want to put a large lug or something under them, they just can't screw in deep enough to provide a strong connection. But if they work for your application then there is no need to change.
The set screws seem a bit taller than needed. How much exposure do you have on them? Do you think reducing the exposed portion by 1/2 would still give you sufficient room?
the screws are 100% too tall. You could lose a half inch easily. I erred one the side of making them too long, because if they were too short they would be useless, but they are definitely too big as is.
Nice, mine hasn't come in yet. So I'm glad you are doing these informative videos first. Just to make sure, that same bolt works on both brand cells, right?
@@TheWilltoBuild because one of my cells arrived damaged and she did not send a replacement or refund. Alibaba end up refunding the purchase price but not Shiela. People are having better service with Xuba. I will never use basen

Great advice!
Be very interesting to see how you get on with the cells, good work👍
I really like the way you explain things. Thank you keep up the great videos cuz I am a beginner.:)
Thanks, I really appreciate it. I'll keep it up.
Skipping around a bit, but the foam looks usable for side insulation at compression rack time
Possible, but I would bet it is just a little too soft for that.
just came across your channel. nice work - keep it up! subscribed.
Thanks man, I will.
EVE 280 Ah cells with 2 x 2 connections on each cell, 4 studs, making my own flexible cord bus "bars".
Those bolts are called grub screws. They have a Allen type end
You're right! - I just forgot the correct name when I was making the video.

What’s the going rate for 16 280Ah or 304Ah cells from Basen? Is it roughly $120 a cell plus shipping?
Hi, are stainless steel set screws and nuts ok with copper busbars?
As long as the connections stay dry, they should be fine.
I hope you show exactly what needs to be done to new cells before putting them into service.
I will! I'm working on that video right now.
Sweet. I have 16 EVE cells on the slow boat right now

What kind of cardboard was used for box?
Standard cardboard, can't tell exactly how thick but maybe 1/4''? It wasn't UN approved hazmat shipping.

You can cut the terminal studs down to fit your needs. Just cut them on the end that isn't slotted for the allen wrench!
would you please share the link to Alibaba of Eve and Lishen cells from Base? thank you
The links keep changing unfortunately. I would just go to alibaba and search Basen. The company is technically Shenzhen Basen.
Makes me feel better that my cells may hopefully arrive undamaged.
Yeah, but I wouldn't expect them to be perfect. Minor imperfections are to be expected.
Nice, mine hasn't come in yet. So I'm glad you are doing these informative videos first. Just to make sure, that same bolt works on both brand cells, right?
Yep, at least for the Lishen and Eve cells I had the exact same bolts and busbars work for both.
@@TheWilltoBuild Thanks, this is so helpful. Now I can order them and have them on hand for when my batteries arrive.
I feel a bit safer watching these videos than before. Still I have to be cautious
I have a tripod now!
Those are studs or grub screws, not bolts.
I know, I know. They are actually sold as "set screws" on the website I bought them from.
Don't buy from Sheila at Basen.
Why do you say that?
@@TheWilltoBuild because one of my cells arrived damaged and she did not send a replacement or refund. Alibaba end up refunding the purchase price but not Shiela. People are having better service with Xuba. I will never use basen
Additionally being refund is extremely disappointing since it takes 4 cells to make a pack... if you order 8 and one is damaged it affects 4 cells.
