I never worked with White Eagle but was blessed that he sang at my church several times, I heard him in concert and met him. He had such potential, was such a nice man and had a voice that had so much more potential. I didn't know that he played Tony, but I can see it..
White Eagle and I were friends. We attended Dominguez high school in Compton, California. We sang duets together . I am still friends with his family. Who live on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota.
I knew his dad (Pastor Moore) about 6 months before I met Eagle. We became friends, and I got to help take care of him before he went to be with Jesus.
I saw this when it first aired that Sunday Morning more than 30 years ago and I recall being moved emotionally by his strong rendition of this song. By coincidence today I stumbled on this TH-cam video for the first time and I am even more moved.
Thank you for this posting. I had the pleasure of working with White Eagle in the cast of West Side Story in 1988 with Cleveland Opera. i played a shark he played Tony, White Eagle is one of those, once in a lifetime people you work with. truly blessed as an artist and as a person. i have have not heard a voice like his since. there isn't a time that i don't hear a Lark or Mockingbird in the distance and think of him and his journey. you are always missed my friend. White Eagle and I went to school together in Compton, California. I met him, in music class, when he walked into the room and asked if the try outs were still open for the top singing group which was a madrigal group, very small and very elite at Dominguez High School. The teacher, Mr. Larry Steele said they had just finished but invited him to try out. Wow! Our mouths dropped open as he sang "Mariah" from the musical Paint Your Wagon. Needless to say he was accepted. His anglo name was Mervyn Moore, but when he became famous he used his Native name. We had a lot in common and we were both Native Americans. We were paired together in duets for many recitals and also extracurricular performances off campus. We became very close friends and I went to his house often. I kept up our friendship through the years, but then I lost track of him. I found his family at the Lakota Souix Rosebud Reservation, in South Dakota, when visiting the University and the White Eagle Academy. Unfortunately by the time I found the Moore family, White Eagle had passed onto his maker. I have remained close to family ever since.
Oh PLEASE upload more White Eagle! He sang at our local Church of Today in Warren, Michigan so we were blessed experiencing his tremendous voice and physical charisma that exuded out of his every pore. Magnificent talent cut so short in life.
On Amazon, there is a CD of White Eagle, "WHITE EAGLE LIVE." I bought it at a concert and he signed it and I lost it. Bottom line, next payday, I'm getting another copy! It is good.

I had the priviledge of hearing White Eagle sing at my church and in concert many years ago.. What a wonderful man and voice!
I worked with White Eagle touring Carmen in 1990. Was thinking of him today and did a Google search - here I am. Thanks to the poster for uploading.

used to hear him at church of today. thanks for publishing this.
There is a video VHS. They aren't made anymore but every once in a while i can find one online.
He loved Mario Lanza and could have been just as good
Does anyone know if there is any music that one could purchase of this singer? Heard him sing Amazing Grace a long time ago and brought me to tars.
Can anyone tell me were i can get White Eagle's video of "Amazing Grace" or just a link to the video ?
potential for a screenplay semi loosely based on him
I observed him many times forget lyrics, drop phrases, make up words.
