    I am very happy with the flex tools I bought, and use every day, for my jobs. I understand that as it has happened also with other brands and products, a produced lot might have had an issue that needs to be taken care of. If Flex takes care of it, honors warranties, and continues to bring us innovation, cool features, and powerful tools, I am happy with them. I just wish they would give us more variety of tools.
    And, if it is a design flaw, that you have found, of a first generation tool, I would not consider them a trash brand. Even SpaceX rockets have been improving generation after generation. I have faith in Flex and want them to be around for many years. Dewalt, Milwawkee, Makita have been in the market for longer, I wonder how theirnfirst generation products would compare against their latest ones, in performance and durability.

    I have all Dewalt tools, but i’m no fan boy, I would buy Milwaukee if I wasn’t already in the Dewalt ecosystem, I have so many batteries that it’s just so prohibitive , that’s how they get ya, on any platform you kind of stick with what you can power. maybe one day i’ll have a garage sale lol but for now I see no reason, been doing my job for years with Dewalt, but I don’t claim them to be “better” than other brands.

    Flex is a bit of an oddity for me. I love their tripod light and fan. Their quick eject impact is too bulky, but mine isn't underpowered.
    Flex wanted to take on milwaukee, so their primary focus seems to be on power versus both power and ergos. That's why their hand tools feel clunky to me.
    Their table saw looks good to me though, being dual powered. Their 18g brad nailer also looks pretty good to me, but I've got the m18 fuel 18g, so not a tool I'm planning on replacing anytime soon.

    2 things that are important to me when investing in power tools specifically. 1. Availability (Can I buy this tool in various different stores in my area if I don't want to buy online). 2. Reliability (Will this tool get the job done long term without issues). The tools don't need to win races performance wise to get the job done either if it breaks in the process of doing so. Milwaukee, Dewalt and Makita are my go to 3 tool brands because they meet the 2 criteria I just mentioned. Ryobi has a few good tools for DIY that I don't mind either. I'm not a fanboy of either brand and I like options. Its a shame Flex failed both criteria. I like success stories when it comes to tools. I want companies to keep making better tools and learning from their past mistakes. Thats my 2 cents.

  • @ferndogg84
    @ferndogg84 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I know my 2 cents probably won’t add much but I think it’s important to mention. I am on the Flex platform since launch and have had some problems with the tools but nothing to send home about. Any issues I have had they sent me out a replacement. The part that I feel like is important to mention that we usually see comparisons of a Gen 1 tool going against Gen 4 Milwaukee and newest model Dewalt. I understand it’s easy to compare current models but again this is a learning experience for Flex and if they weren’t listening to their customers feed back they wouldn’t have recalled the batteries. So I think down the road they will be even better, so forgive me if I don’t write them off for their Gen 1 impact driver.

      @@ToolswithSoAlz I feel like there will be, but companies still need to sell units to make more products and improvements. Money can’t just come out of nowhere. I think it’s important to not just judge a product based on their impact. I can also absolutely agree with everyone that Flex’s marketing is absolute trash. I had to find out that they were coming out with a stapler and a framing nailer from a promotional booth that had the images on it.

    • @ToolswithSoAlz

      @ferndogg84 Lowe's made them remove all of their full size combo kits, battery issues, and then told Flex they will only be focusing on their compact series of tools. Sales haven't been going well for Flex. They let go of all their in store reps as well. I have serious concerns

    • @ferndogg84
      @ferndogg84 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ToolswithSoAlz I did talk to my friend who works at Lowe’s and he mentioned that Flex did the recall on the combo kits that had the old batteries. Which makes sense since the new batteries have a plastic protector for the thermagel they have around the batteries (a lot of people thought they used cheap batteries which were leaking but was actually quite the opposite and not the case).
      I will say I have always been let down by Lowe’s and the lack of training and brand knowledge. I will have to check with my friend about Lowes only opting to carry the compact line. Hopefully it’s just a money shift that they are doing within the company to focus on social media presence and R&D instead of a in person events
