  • Learn a solid chess opening for black with many attacking chances. In this video I teach you the fundamentals of the Sicilian Defense Dragon Variation. You’ll learn the basic strategy, important tactics and how to defend against the most common attacks from white. The video is aimed at beginners and players unfamiliar with the Siclian Defense Dragon Variation, but includes insights relevant for even experienced players. I also go over a game between Vishy Anand and Garry Kasparov, where we see how the Sicilian Dragon can be played at the highest level of chess.

Thanks! Really cool that you can enjoy it despite not being into ASMR! Gotta give credit to GM Simon Williams (awesome chess channel: GingerGM) for the naming of the pawns.

id love some more opening videos like this, the way you describe everything is so simplified in such a complex game it makes it all so understandable

Made a few anotations and watched this twice to cement most of the moves!
The principles are making a lot more sense. The generalized role of each piece is becoming clearer.
On my way to have fun with this 'Tales of war' board game. :)

This is one of the best tutorials I have watched so far. You make it more interesting; and it is easier to remember what each piece is doing.
Please continue to teach this way.

Very Thanks for this video. It's a lesson about the plans of Sicilan-dragon variation, while it's more usual just memorize the firsts movies.

This is pretty incredible. I've been playing this opening exclusively with my friend who is around 1500 ELO and I've beat him everytime. He did play some varient moves but it's amazing how this opening just works. Like I feel like it's cheating with how well it works.

I watch your videos over and over again. At night you put me to sleep and in the daytime, I try to absorb your chess wisdom. There is so much to learn. You are the only teacher who makes me feel that the chessboard has distinctive geographic places instead of being just a numbered and lettered graph, and that the pawns are little personalities, not just...well, pawns!

This video greatly improved my performance when playing as black... Sort of ashamed of myself as I'm too lazy to properly learn theory lol so I just "blindly" follow the instructions from the video.

You are my favorite TH-cam channel. I have been watching since before the queens gambit and it felt like it was just me and you in the Smokey cafe. And you have grown so gracefully, and your videos now are so high quality. I basically have notifications for your channel without having TH-cam notifications on at all. I honestly get impatient waiting for each next video, and I have scrolled long for the sake of it
