thanks for the video. watched it to sleep then again next day to learn. i personally find these videos your best type of like others say, the historical ones are just as good. keep em coming plz!
HE'S COVERING THE FRENCH! holy this is the only opening I've ever studied in depth. Hope he covers the line I play in the advanced. (I know like some 26 moves of theory in this opening lol, its actually the best.) Its so cool seeing my favorite chess creator covering my favorite opening!
Your videos are the only way I effectively remember how to play openings. Your channel is so lovely I've been watching every video for the past year or so. I sincerely hope you become successful and happy in life since the amount of joy this channel has provided is priceless.
As a French viewer, I was impressed by your reading of the French sentence at the start of the video : it's so well pronounced ! Your content is a perfect combination of what I love about ASMR: learning and relaxing at the same time ✨thank you for all your efforts
I love this channel. Not only do you have one of the last true ASMR channels on youtube-I can tell you ‘get’ it unlike many people who attribute ASMR to any sound or foley-your explanations of these concepts is fantastic. Thank you for being a gem of a youtube channel in an increasingly barren landscape.
Nice, French defense is a classic and an old favorite of mine. I especially had success in exchange variation, which is why I switched to Petrov to get the structure more consistently! Have been playing Petrov for a couple years now, but i still go back to french every now and then.
I love all the opening videos. Not only is it relaxing and I WILL rewatch it for not just that but also…. I get to learn the IDEAS of openings instead of the moves, as I find knowing the ideas is best, and helps you with other openings! Thank you 💜
Wow - these are great. I really appreciate the calm, thoughtful and slow-paced approach. When there are so many channels so big and loud and yelling all the time with chess your channel stands out. I can see myself watching a lot of these. Please do the Scotch Game next - that's my favourite as White.
Thanks a lot! I was bored of playing the Sicilian you taught me a long time ago xD Now with your Ruy Lopez primer and this I'm ready to gain some MMR!!
I was there since you had 20k and never posted any comment. Just wanted to tell you how thankful i am for all the videos you have made and for the perseverance you have put in it. Keep up the good work, and i hope your community will grow even more in the future.
One of the most well produced videos I've seen in a while. Not only the history and knowledge, but also the explanation of how each move would go. Fantastic presentation 🙏
The French Defense is solid and an absolute classic, but that light-squared Bishop on c8 is utterly useless 😂 I recommend maybe King's Indian or Scandinavian next, but it's up to you. Keep up the great work, you deserve way more subs 💪
Hey man I just wanted to say thank you for continuing to make amazing videos for us about chess always super relaxing and interesting. I know it's not always easy but thx for pushing through the challenges
I can't think of a more deserving channel for the sponsorship. Congrats on securing the bag. I hope we get the privilege of your content for years to come 😊
Immediately went to play a game online, got the black pieces, played the french and CRUSHED my opponent in 12 moves. You da bomb asmrchess! Thank you for your contributions to my rating points
Learning the French defense is really important one of the improvement and effective defenses for black side and explain an teach perfectly, than you so much for your helpful knowledge and videos 😊
Yes, another tutorial! I haven’t watched it yet (I will at bedtime tonight) but I have no doubt it will be great. Also, I don’t know if you take requests for these, but if you do, I’d love to see you cover my beloved vienna gambit.
I am relatively new to chess, and only know a few basic openings. I don't know if it is me or if French does really have some similarities with advanced version of Caro (Gotham opening ;) ). I hope you teach more openings. It could be just me. To me, no one teaches these openings more effectively than you (with all due respect to all other TH-cam chess masters and teachers). Thank you for all your great work.
Nice video! I already studied the French defense thanks to a friend that plays it but you still learn me some things here and there ^^ Your french was pretty good btw!
Thank you so much for covering the Spanish and French openings. The French opening is something I've always wanted to learn because this opening does a good job of preventing pesky attacks such as the scholar's mate and fried liver, which are quite common af my ELO level.
If you want to be capturing you should just play aggressive chess! Because… You know… Takes, takes, takes, takes… Get it? Too much? Sorry, never mind. Anyways I’m sure you can use your voice in a way that works very well for what you want to do. Just get comfortable hearing yourself on the microphone and try different things out without being shy!
YES!!!! I was so happy for you when you said you got sponsored by Babbel, I know you have many costs so I'm glad your getting help youtube isint giving you. What works for the channel works for us 😊
Excellent video! I play the French and win the most with it. This helped to solidify and improve my playing with it. You were right the first time, btw. a3 (you said a6 in the video) actually IS the sixth pawn move, as the e pawn has been moved twice making b4 the seventh pawn move ;)
I watched this video twice going to sleep and fell asleep quickly both times but played a game today where I played E4 (I’m a D4 player) and my opponent played the French. I play around 14-1500 elo but I won this game with 92% accuracy and a 1950 estimated rating. Wondering if it’s because I subconsciously learned the French going to sleep watching this🤣
Man, I started watching you videos because ASMR, I'm still watching because the quality is godlike and also because my gal keeps beating my ass when we play chess (I barely know how the pieces move) however I keep falling asleep and miss half these defense videos. And I'm not complaining at all btw, in fact it is the exact opposite, love your channel ❤
Happy Valentines day! except I am in school and don't have anyone. But I went to a tournament a few weeks ago I did not like playing e4, e5 from black's side, so I watched a 10 minute video of the french defense. In 2/9 games my opponent played 1.e4 and I played 1.e6 and I won both the games! Wanted to learn about the opening more, found the perfect video!
The PRIDE I feel when I can figure out the result of a trap and why to avoid it…. Love moments like that! Ask us more questions during the videos lol I love pausing to figure it out.
Another relaxing and informative video in time for bed. As a chess beginner, I might start using the French Defense for e4. It's definitely an upgrade to only knowing how to defend scholar's mate 😅. Thanks for the inspiration!
Actually it comes from “to learn how to win with opposition” in this short chess poem I did with a friend: This Chess Trick Wins EVERY TIME #chess #opposition th-cam.com/users/shortslKVjPSEZK8s?feature=share But I like your version too!
Verry interesting opening. I will definitely try this in the next Games. Also i learned the rook would be 5 Points thats why you would Not Like to Exchange them with a Queen for example.

You mean the Advance, or is there literally some advanced version of this opening for chess connoisseurs?
@@isavenewspapers8890 dunno why I add the D at the end. But its just habitual at this point lol. Even in person I call it advanced for no good reason.
