Very useful video! Wish I’d seen it a couple of months ago before I hacked my way through that job. Didn’t think of trying rubber matting!! Thanks for the tips. Please keep posting!
So does you drop keel still bind when your under sail to hold in the down position..?? this old Canadian has been advised not to stop the knock..so we just pulled i up at anchor or docked..
Hello There,It Does reduce the Harsh Knock we get at Anchor for Sure,I don't have any problems with pulling up the Keel,I recently finished a 600 klm round trip and had to anchor wind Against Tide with the keel up,OMG i woke up with my Mac Rolling from side to side massivly,I dropped the Keel and Rudders down and it did decrease the rolling effect allot, depends on your anchourage if its calm with no boats going past then for sure, but if u have strong tides or other boats motoring but i would definitly drop everything,In Austrailia we have busy waterways with large boats and strong tides around so find it more comfortable, even trimming the outboard down.hope this helps
keep me posted mate.. if you ever make it up to the whitsundays let me know.. i have a 25ft ron holland 1/4 ton yacht and i love heading out showing people spots and maybe even a little race to the islands ;)
thanks for the invite Zac,i love the Whitsundays,Myself and my Dad Did the Slate Roofs on Hayman,i think i was about 15,then Green Island some years later, then to Badarra Island, this was what started my love for North Queensland,Cheers m8
Thanks Steve,It was Surprisingly Easy with 2 people,So put the Pin Through the Bracket and the keel(same way it came out}before u bolt braket with nut into hull,I let the Trailing Edge of the Keel on the ground and just concentrated on getting that bolt through the hole,Once the Stud is Threw and u can put the nut on ,Happy Days she is away,
@@livinthedreambrighteyes2032 Thanks for that. As I have just bought my X I have a long list of things I want to check/repair and checking the center board was one of them. Thankfully, there is no rattle or banging at the moment so I guess one of the previous owners has already fixed that.
@@steveszekely780 Ur Going to love it,When the Center Board is down u get a knock in some swell, that will be the culprit, also if ur going to drop it check the hole where the big Pin goes threw the Keel the pin can oval the hole threw rhe fiberglass Keel,I was going to S/S Sleave it n Fiberglass in place but ran out of time,Happy Days
It is a fun job! I had to get mine out to do some repairs, this video would have helped. Noticed your mast spreaders are a bit fancier than the originals?
Hay Paul hope all is well,It was easyier than i expected.not shore about the spreaders, dread the day if i need to replace them lol,it was a shame to have to cut the video short,I would have normaly showed the completion,I had to be back on the water that next morning for my biggest trip so far.
Gday Wade,U could definatly use Cable to run the Guide line through for sure,The Rope seemed to go through without a Problem,I carry Cable with me in the 4wd drive now days as i once had the Main Halled line come out through the Mast at the Boat Ramp,Needless to say that weekend we wear a Motor Boat lol,Thanks for Enjoying our Videos,Hopefully more out soon,All the Best,Adrian

Great video. How easy was it to align the hanger bracket bolt when it was going back up? Is the hanger bracket in a channel? Does it self align?

Fantastic! I'm assuming you were using nylon line? Any reason you didn't use cable?

I suppose your next job will be to sand and paint the hull.
