      Hello John, the best thing about the 26X is that you should be able to find one at a really good price which makes the risk that much better. Lot's of fun. Thanks for watching!

    So glad you put the omelette scene in your intro. The "oh yeah baby" gets a smile every time.

    Two stroke is the best way to go. Lighter.

    • @ChristopherQuest
      @ChristopherQuest  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, I am sure having good luck with this older 2-stroke. I do like the idea of a lighter engine with hp. Thanks for watching!

    If you buy the salad dressing packets (like in Subway?) ...you can keep 2 dozen in the cupboard, rather than the cooler...

    • @ChristopherQuest
      @ChristopherQuest  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello again! This is a great idea, there are a bunch of different packet items that could be saved and used on the boat. Thanks and thanks again for watching!

    Is that a UFO in the sky at 8 min 44 secs?! I'm a fellow Mac Owner (1999 26x) and love that I recently found your videos. Mine's up for sale, but your videos and content are making it hard to face parting with it. Keep it up and may the sun always be upon your face, and the wind upon your back.
    Cheers!

    I'm rewatching these videos. Really enjoyable. I try to imagine myself getting a boat, and having some relaxing times, and a few adventures. I'm in Chicago. If I could find a MacGregor like yours, I would take it down the Illinois, the Mississippi, up the Ohio to Paducah, then the Tennessee, eventually to Mobile. Condo is in Gulf Shores, so I want to have adventures in that area ... from New Orleans or maybe even Galveston all the way to ... who knows, maybe the Keys.

    • @ChristopherQuest
      @ChristopherQuest  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Robert! Hey, thanks for the nice comment. Your trip idea sounds great and would be a fantastic adventure. I believe you only live once, so just looking at boats would be a fun time. It is possible! (and would make interesting video...) Thanks for watching!

    As a RN, I took care of a guy. Said his career was outboard ENGINEER and that he had worked for Mercury and Johnson. I asked how long should a well cared for engine last. No pause..... "6,000 hours". He said .... We put them on a block and run them until they die. 5,000 for sure.... 6,000 probably.
    I ran my boat everywhere.... I fish 4-7 times a month. That's 75 trips a year. I barely hit 100 hours. It's a lifetime to hit 5,000.... That 1997 probably has less than 500 hour. 90% of it's life ahead of it. Like..... it's just gotten "broken in" and is nowhere near "broken". He also said.... The less it sits and is RUN, the better.
    Hope that helps reconfirm your plans to "not" change out.
    But..... if you plan on increasing to 500 hours a year for ten years.... You will ABSOLUTELY save money on 4 stroke fuel. But.... Really? Do you really think you're gonna put that many hours on that motor? More likely? To put more hours on the anchor rope watching sunsets, playing, drinking, cooking....
    Thanks for the enjoyable clips.

      Hello Francus! Wow, this is such good information it really deserves a video itself, or possibly printed. Many believe that age alone wears out a engine. I hope this engine lasts a long time, because as you said - there are likely much fewer hour on it than you might think. Thanks for the good info! Thanks for watching!

    Chris, new subscriber here because I am interested in the Mac26. You do a great job of talking through the way you use the boat and it has already helped me think through how it might work for me. On question for you. How much fuel do you use per hour when you are just motoring to get somewhere? I am in Melbourn FL and thinking about motoring to Bahamas and then sailing around there for a while and the Mac26 looks like it could be a great option for me. Thanks

      Hello MN Dad, I lived in Jackson, MN for while! My 50hp 2-stroke seems to use more gas than a four stroke would for sure. I can get right at 20 miles with 9 gallons of fuel - pulling the 14' dingy at like 7 knots. I can get about 25 miles without the dingy. So not that great 2 to 3 mpg. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!

    Looks awesome. Isn't a Bris when a Rabbi conducts a circumcision? I guess that's why you keep it up on the front of the boat? So you can cut it loose when you need to. 🤣

      Hello John, The charger came with the boat and has worked quite well the few times I have needed it. I don't use the house batteries a lot and the engine keeps them going pretty well. Thanks again for watching!

      Hello Leif, This is a Green Pan - Valencia. I watched a test kitchen video that compared the top 28 frying pans if you can believe it. The Green Pan Valencia won - I am not paid or supplied by green pan, fyi lol. It is a great pan though. Thanks for watching!
