    I just found your channel as i am sort of interested in the MacGregor 26 and really am learning a lot from all your content. Thanks so much for the great videos.

    Very informative "get to know what you're getting into" video. I am considering a Macgregor for solo sailing.

    Very useful for a like aged boat, bought to do up, THANKS CHAPS WELL DONE!

    Well you guys effectively doubled the value of the boat with your repairs! (not including the motor of course) I wish it was longer than 6 minutes but I understand it wasn't meant as a "how-to" but as a "we-did" sort of thing.

    No critique here. I think you guys did an awesome job. Just cleaning up and "refreshing" the elderly black ablative on my 26X one August, when I first got her, damned near killed me from heat stroke. It's a beastly job on the trailer. One thing though: amongst Amphicar owners (those cockeyed '60s amphibious boat-cars) we tend to avoid any "structural" repairs to our metal-hulled craft below the waterline with plain Bondo, because it's said to be water-soluble, preferring instead stuff like POR-15, other epoxies or that fiber-filled "Kitty Hair" fiberglass goo. Of course, we could be mistaken about Bondo and water, or maybe you used some boat-suitable type of the stuff, and not the Plain Jane goop for patching rusty Chevette quarterpanels?

      @FrigateChaserFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was like the bondo kitty hair equivalent. 🤷🏻‍♂️. We will find out at some point 🙌🏼

      @@FrigateChaserFishing I found this MSDS on "3M™ Bondo Long Strand Fiberglass Reinforced Filler 762, 762ES, 762M, 762C [...]" over at: multimedia.3m.com/mws/mediawebserver%3FmwsId%3DSSSSSuUn_zu8lZNUM8tvN8tUNv70k17zHvu9lxtD7SSSSSS--&ved=2ahUKEwiO-OmSsOPwAhWkElkFHSYyDYgQFjACegQICRAC&usg=AOvVaw0K6svJ3mZ_T1FGmO5oPJ7R
      Under its Section 9 for "Water Solubility" it states "Negligible". So, if that's what you used, I expect you'll be just fine. Sorry for very possibly riling you up unnecessarily.

    Another great vid fellas. If you will be launching at ramps that don't have a dock next to them, consider installing some much better trailer guides, still the best money I ever spent on my boat, and you will know why on your first windy retrieval! Unfortunately after 10 years with a 50hp, I most definitely agree with that 90hp recommendation (especially if ocean bar crossings are going to happen)... For just cruising speeds (5-7 knots) in protected waters, the 50 will be fine though.

    • @FrigateChaserFishing
      @FrigateChaserFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! A 50 is all we can afford at the moment. But we got the high thrust option so 🤷🏻‍♂️. Will find out soon as we plan to head to Tampa very soon. Also, was looking at other trailer guides. Thinking the ones that go over the fenders might be a solid idea.

    It helps pretty good to attach a shop vac to the sander, it really cuts down the dust. I went through bottom sanding earlier this year on my 2000 26 X

    • @FrigateChaserFishing

      Yes sir! We won’t do it inside again if we have the choice. Still cleaning up copper coat. 😂

      @@FrigateChaserFishing Yeah, that stuff gets everywhere, I had a small shopvac attached to my orbital sander, and it was full once I was done sanding, still needed to take a shower afterwards.

      Can get all from total boat. Waxed gel coat. We may have been using bondo resin. Green stuff was bondo glass I think.

      Yep, bondo glass. Can be found at automotive shops. Its just for small filler repairs.

      Love the motor. We need to change pitch on prop. Not sure yet what that will be. When trimmed up the fuel line gets into the steering shaft. need to figure that out. 🤷🏻‍♂️will update once we have time to figure out. and the Fuel tank vid will be coming soon.
