When I first read this passage in Mark, I actually laughed out loud because it was the first time that Jesus behaved more human than God; taking his hangry frustration out on a fig tree that wouldn’t give him breakfast that morning. LOL.

This was done to fulfill the sign spoken through Jeremiah: "There will be no figs on the tree,
and their leaves will wither. What I have given them will be taken from them.""
    Jeremiah 8:13
“I will take away their harvest,
    declares the Lord.
There will be no grapes on the vine.
There will be no figs on the tree,
    and their leaves will wither.
    What I have given them
    will be taken from them.”
Almost everything written about Jesus in the gospels was to prove that he was the Messiah by fulfilling the signs and prophecies spoken long before by the prophets and in the psalms. This is the key to understanding the gospels. People are familiar with when Jesus turned water into wine. But the reason it was in the gospels is because it fulfilled the sign spoken through Jeremiah; Say to the people, "Every jar will be filled with wine." To those familiar with the prophets it all comes together. But to those not familiar with the Hebrew scriptures it is just a collection of unconnected stories and metaphors without their roots.

I want to study more of the old testaments. What are some of your favorites?

    • @jdwagman
      @jdwagman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@brianbrooks5947 I never thought about any part being my favorite before. But after thinking about it I guess I would say the books of Samuel and King David. David is the one who received the promise that a descendant of his (Jesus) would rule over Israel and conquer the nations. David is a great example of a "man after Gods heart". The Palms are full of prophecies that Jesus fulfilled. So that would be another favorite. Everything (or almost everything) they wrote in the Gospels was to show how Jesus fulfilled the scriptures. When the apostles first started their ministry all they had was Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms. With this they would show how Jesus is the Messiah by fulfilling them. I believe that a great way to study the Hebrew scriptures (the ones originally written in Hebrew) is to start with the gospels and try to find the scriptures they fulfilled. Or you can also do it the other way and read the old and look for Jesus in it but this way is more difficult. Read the psalms and compare it to the things written about Jesus in the gospels.
If you are totally unfamiliar with them then start with Genesis and the books of Moses (the Torah) because they are made references throughout the bible. Start with Adam.
      1 Corinthians 15:22
For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
      1 Corinthians 15:45
So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.
Don't think of them a being separate (old and new) but tie them together as the prophecy and promises of God and their fulfillment.

    • @josephinetracy1485

Jesus lost his temper with a fig tree just because it had no figs at the time, so he cursed it and caused it to wither to its roots (Mark 11: 12-14, 20-21). Jesus said of those who rejected him as their ruler, “Bring them here and slay them before me” (Luke 19: 27). No wonder Jesus was known in his time as "Jesus: The Wicked Priest." Pure evil and hate!

He also planted a Fig Tree and, for three years looked for fruit on it. Finding none, he was prepared to cut it down and remove it from the soil but, was convinced by the gardener to allow him to cultivate and fertilize it. At his coming, what will he find on the Fig Tree now that it has been cultivated and fertilized? When the Fig Tree's branch grows tender and sprout leaves you know that summer is near.
In the same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the gates. (Mat 24:33 NABO)
The way of the Lord in the desert needs to be put into context with the previous passage:
(Joshua) The First Beast - Day of the Lord - Sacrifice - Indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins.
(Moses) The Second Beast - Way of the Lord - Resurrection - Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God! (Isa 40:2-3 NABO)
Just as it is appointed that human beings die - be judged - appear a second time, (so also Christ) Heb 9:27-28.
the one who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty (Rev 1:8 NABO)
The beast that you saw existed once but now exists no longer. It will come up from the abyss and is headed for destruction. (Rev 17:8 NABO)
We saw his star (of Bethlehem) at its rising and have come to do him homage. (Mat 2:2 NABO)
The star was called "Wormwood” (Rev 8:11 NABO)
It was given the key for the passage to the abyss. (Rev 9:1 NABO)
I hold the keys to death and the netherworld. (Rev 1:18 NABO)
the bars of the nether world (Abyss) were closing behind me forever (Jon 2:7 NABO)
Who will go down into the abyss?' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead) (Rom 10:7 NABO)

That is not a description of a Holy person or a so called Deity in which governs the practicing of which is to lead y'all to salvation in a unmanaged characteristic of hatred toward a tree that was "NOT in SEASON" to bear fruit...
As He should know man is not aways to be concious enough to be successful in the applications in the systems of WISDOM... So why would one with such wisdom use the fig'tree as an example of where he knows men will disrespect the reality of the conditions of what Jesus son of Mary had delivered to the people and knowing they would not understand it?...

The tree bears no fruit the gospels constantly taught a person who bears bad fruit or no fruit will not be able to receive salvation.
The fig tree is also an analogy and prophecy of Israel and them not bearing fruit

Its always surprising what stories are told the cure a problem or inconsistency in the bible! It says: ' it wasn't the time for figs' - thats natures law! The law god had given! How could Jesus then expect any figs? This is more an ambarrassing excuse for Jesus behavior rather than a real explanation. In fact in a parallel vers of the bible the writer tries another explanation, making things not much better i guess.

All of these great swelling words and no one bothers to search the scriptures for the FIRST mention of Jesus being hungry, Matthew 4:3. Hmm. Jesus turned water to wine but no mention of Him drinking any! Jesus miraculously fed 9,000 men + women & children but no mention He ate any of it. Jesus provides 153 great fishes without breaking the net yet already has fish on the fire. What do all of these accounts have in common? Let's see, Jesus has the power to turn stones to bread, water to wine, multiply a tiny amount of food to satisfy multitudes, give His disciples the biggest catch of their lives without the net breaking, COULD HE ALSO HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE A FIG TREE BRING FORTH FRUIT OUT OF SEASON? I think so. I KNOW so. So why didn't He just command the tree to produce some figs instead of drying it up? Go back to Matthew 4:3 for the answer. "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!"

Israel comes from the names of the goddesses & gods "Isis, Ra, & El." "Is-Ra-El." EL is the Caananite god of Saturn (aka Satan). Ra is the Egyptian fertility god, symbolized by an obelisk, such as The Washington Monument. It represents the male phallic. The ancient symbol for the Egyptian goddess Isis is now the symbol for the dollar "$."
