The old Rabbis believed the tree of good and evil was a fig tree, when Jesus says, May no one ever eat from you again, he is for telling us of the cross, where he will pay the ransom to free us from the curse of death, which was brought on by Adam and Eve eating the fruit and the penalty (curse) was death. This is pretty illogical. How can God curse a tree for not going out of its way to bear fruit for him. *READ THE ENTIRE ARGUMENT BEFORE RESPONDING PLS* That’s like God catching a fish then cursing the fish for not recognizing him and instantly cooking itself or not immediately coming to him and saving him the time of having to catch it. Or cursing the sun for not recognizing him and becoming cooler so he won’t sweat or get thirsty, fatigue or have any difficulty traveling Not to mention it’s a tree. How can anyone expect a tree to be able to know a persons status. That’s like a king getting mad at a tree for not knowing it’s a king and immediately bearing the sweetest fruit. And trees also cannot just instantly grow fruit and have it ripe that instant. So seems kinda selfish, arrogant and obnoxious of this “god” for getting mad at a tree for not being able to do something it simply cannot do. It’s like getting mad at a chicken for not being able to just at will lay an egg whenever u request. That’s not possible,it all takes time and an entire process. If his interpretation of the verse is true then the biblical god seems to be very unreasonable. And dude. If Jesus is god them u use your own powers and make the tree bear the fruit u need. If he can turn water into wine, walk on water and raise the dead making a tree grow the fruit u want instant should be no big deal. Does this “god” expect the tree to be able to predict the future and know “god is going to come here next month and hes going to want to take some fruit from me so I better start growing fruit early so it can be ready the same day comes and idk get a gun to scare off anyone who might try and get some fruit before god can get some” This is nonsense and even if Jesus is truly God this is a mockery of God just to come up with some argument as to why he curses a tree. And this is just assumption. It isn’t back by any actual scholarly work it’s just you coming up with your own interpretation of the verse and assuming it’s right. Imagine going to a tree and being so unreasonable expecting a tree to somehow notice that u are God when even human unless told aren’t able to and even some who are told still require some supernatural miracle before they can accept it, u expect a tree to instantly know this and not only that but some how instantly have fruit ready for u or grow fruit in a way unnatural to it. What next is he going to get mad at a baby for not recongnizimg him as God and instantly going out of the laws of nature/biology and become an adult or a teen and know how to speak and bow down, so it can bow down and praise Jesus. Well he next expect a mentally challenged person to be able to know he’s God and bow down and praise him. Will he next expect food to know he’s God and instantly become sweeter or hell cut itself up to the shapes he likes Will he expect clothing to know he’s God and instantly become his size when it some how is able to notice that he has a liking to it. This is sheer nonsense and quite literally a arrogant mockery of both Jesus and God regardless of your biblical beliefs of them And in this same chapter he goes and tells the apostles to go and untie a colt. Was he secretly in his mind cursing the colt for not knowing he’s God or unlike the tree predicting that God is coming so it untie itself 😑 And I’m a bit confused on why u said it was in fact of season when the verse itself says it wasn’t. Fig fruit is the only fruit to my knowledge that grows on figs. That fruit u were showing is literally a fig fruit. So this makes him even more obnoxious and unreasonable (at least in your interpretation of the verse) expecting a tree that’s not in season to bear fruit. That’s like cursing a apple tree in the heart of winter for not having fruit. And no when he goes to Jerusalem in chapter 12 he’s not mad at anyone for not recognizing him as God. That parable had nothing at all to do with implying Jesus being divine or not divine. In the parable the people the owner of the tree he put in charge didn’t want to hand it over to him or listen to his instructions . Same way God the people he put in charge didn’t want hand over the temple to him or listen to his instructions. Instead they chose to make it a market and make money instead of it being a place for God. This has nothing to do with anyone being divine 😭and nor is it even related to the story in mark 11. Just because one chapter had fruit tree in it and the chapter after it also does it doesn’t mean they are linked in any way. Cause both stories don’t share many of any similarities other than a fruit tree being there. And let’s say I am wrong and he is right about this part. It doesn’t change anything. It’s still “god” cursing a fig tree for not bearing fruit when it’s not even in season and made at it for not recognizing him as “god” and going against the laws of nature and growing fruit when it’s not even in season. And if anything HE IS TO BLAME for the tree not being able to bear fruit not the tree itself; Fruits typically grow in response to seasonal changes in temperature, daylight length, and other environmental factors. When conditions are favorable, such as during the spring and summer months, the plant will develop flowers and then fruit. However, when conditions are not favorable, such as during the winter months, the plant will not produce fruit. This is because the growth and development of fruit require specific environmental conditions and the availability of certain nutrients. For example, the plant needs sufficient sunlight and warmth to support photosynthesis and the production of energy for growth. In addition, the plant requires the right balance of water and nutrients to support the development of the fruit. When environmental conditions are not suitable, the plant will go into a dormant state, where growth and development slow down or stop altogether. This allows the plant to conserve energy and resources until conditions become more favorable. Therefore, fruits cannot grow when out of season because the plant is not able to undergo the necessary growth and development processes required for fruit production.“ So if this is a just and fair honest god he wouldn’t curse a tree for it not recognizing him and “showing it’s fruits” because the tree cannot do it on its own nor does it have any control over what helps it grow fruits. So if he is a just and honest god he should go and curse the sun, the weather, the soil or hell just the entire environment and ecosystem the fig tree is in. Or curse himself, the father, the holy spirit or just the godhead in general because that’s the god/persons that are in control of all of this. Fig tree cannot control the weather and the environment it’s in so it can grow fruit in preparation when Jesus is coming even when it’s out of season. This whole 2 minute video is a mockery of the Abrahamic God and even the biblical God and Jesus himself.

Here is the correct & historical meaning of this event. There were 2 political parties, one was called the 'Figtree' & the other party was called the 'Vineyard'. The Figtree party wanted war with Rome, & the Vineyard party wanted peace. In addition to the missions of the Essenes & the ruling Herods, there was another mission in Rome. This was the one called the'Figtree'. From 4BC, the disputes about the Herodian succession that had been fought out in Rome between the brothers Archaelaus and Antipas had led to a splitting of Herodian loyalties. Antipas must have established a different house, and the mission that continued from his house continued to be hostile to the ruling Herods. This mission which looked to the Therapeuts of Egypt rather than to Palestinian Essenes for its ascetic discipline was called the Figtree because Therapeuts did not drink wine and were skilled in the medical arts. The Vineyard & the Figtree were associated but had separate organizations. As a parable in Luke says, " A Figtree was planted in a Vineyard". Simon Magus was a subsequent leader of the Zealot Figtree mission, closely associated with the tetrarch Antipas. On Monday, March 2d, 33AD, Jesus went to the temple treasury (in Qumran) at the time for money collection. No fulfillment has occurred for those expecting a Restoration at SS3969 ( 1st position, Samaritan 31st). Jesus says it is because of the financial corruption and overturns the furniture for the banking system. The next day was March 3. When there was no fulfillment at the regular 31st, Jesus attacks the Herodian form of mission, including that of the tetrarch, the Figtree. When he 'cursed the Figtree', he was condemning their financial exploitations, zealot ambitions & their methods which were compromising the mission, & he expelled them.
Who else is here after seeing Louis CK's new standup?? 😅 He goes thru this story in the "Dolby" show if anyone is interested. I was really curious what the supposed deeper meaning behind this was going to be and this is about what I expected. Jesus kills a tree because it isn't bearing fruit when out of season. Then we have to find some sort of profound message behind it. Not buying it guys, sorry.
So let me get this right. Jesus cursed a tree for not doing what God made the tree to do?? Yeah, that tree had it coming. I mean imagine you are a tree and you have the audacity to not know that Jesus is going to walk past feelin peckish! Those fig trees are really narcissistic huh!

This is not found in the primary sources from antiquity.
