I love Chiapas! Been there twice and would love to return to see Palenque. We visited a ranch about a 45 minute drive from San Cristobal and rode horses in the country. It was a beautifu; experience.
Saludos desde Ithaca, NY, EEUU! Chiapas is probably my favorite state of Mexico....along with Oaxaca and Yucatán. I'm glad you mentioned that you just touched the surface regarding the richness of Chiapas. It would be impossible to do the state justice in just a half hour. Not in the video but certainly worth visiting: Palenque, San Cristóbal(been there 5 or 6 times), Comitán(a great base for visiting El Chiflón, Lagos de Montebello and the Maya site Tenam Puente), Toniná, Cascadas Roberto Barrios and Agua Azul. Don't miss the coffee either!!!! Me encanta Chiapas y por supuesto vuelvo a visitarlo otra vez!
Beautiful video and the most amazing tip to respect other cultures is an absolutely due, remember that countries are build for the good of their citizens and not for foreigners or tourists.
This is an extraordinarily beautiful video combined with all your research of succinct and interesting details ... truly a delight! Thank you for the time and effort it took to create this. I am certain you could enter this video in a cinematic contest and WIN an award!
Thank you Mariana. We were in Chiapas this spring and enjoyed it so much. Much of your video looked familiar since we had gone to these places also. It's really a beautiful state in Mexico and I can't wait to return. Thanks again.🌹
Thanks Marianna for the beautiful and guided video and all what u say is true . U kind know the history of the state . So glad for that . Greetings from Minneapolis Minnesota 🙏🙏👍❤️❤️ Chiapas Is just gorgeous. Thanks to God the Almighty. Blessings to you.
wow this video is mind blowing. As I study spanish and do other things to prepare to immigrate to Mexico some day, it's so hard to make up my mind where to move to when I'm ready. So many beautiful places in Mexico to live.
Hola Mariana! This was marvelous! The video and your narrative were exceptional! Although we have already relocated to Ajijic, I continue to follow you and so appreciate your outstanding and valuable content. You are truly a gift to the expat community. Toda la mejor, Ean & Katie
Your videos featuring various places are GREAT! Mexico is such a big, varied and interesting country. Thanks. Watching from Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
You can do it! And we can help 😉 If you ever want to learn more I recommend our page for retiring in Mexico mexicorelocationguide.com/retire-in-mexico/
Hello maker of the video - it's a good one and very special that you do one for relocation. Are many people moving to Chiapas from abroad? My girl and me are intending to visit chiapas at the beginning of Febuary. Looking forward to that! Cheers
We did a video on san cris- check it out here San Cristobal De Las Casas, Mexico: Living On $1500 A Month Or Less! th-cam.com/video/EPSHi_J-UCY/w-d-xo.html
Really good video, i lived in Jalisco but did not know most of this. This type of videos are awso.e because they give expats options to visit once they have explored their town.
Do we like Chiapas? Have visited three times [last time was October/November '23] and within two days of our return to Canada we were planning to go back...🤩
So beautiful love that state chiapas. But many government programs last time was there some friends helped us to get out of there to catch our flight because close to san cristobal the locals closed all the roads for days to local problems with their governor, and it happen alot our friends told us ❤
Hi are there any places in Mexico city towns that have newer or updated plumbing or electric in your Video mexico is not for everyone you mentioned plumbing toilet issues
All cities and towns have modern homes and newer buildings with updated plumbing. However, in every city and town there are also old buildings with older plumbing
Absolutely fascinating, will put this on our Must-Visit list once we move full time to Mexico! How many days would you suggest we plan for to get the best experience? We most likely won't have our own car.
Hi Mariana! My wife and I are considering taking a year off away from home and family to travel Mexico. My family moved to the USA when I was 5 and my wife when she was 17. We were both born in Mexico so you can say we have dual citizenship? Most of your videos talk about how to get temporary or permanent residency. What about dual citizenship? Where do we begin to explore the required documentation for this? All we have right now is our respective birth certificates from Mexico.
If you have a Mexican birth certificate you are a Mexican citizen. All you have to do is go to your nearest consulate with your original birth certificate from mexico and get a Mexican passport. You can be a dual citizen without a problem
I hoped to learn about life of Zapatistas and NZLN - that's what really uniquely attractive in the whole world. Did you have no interaction, notice no influence of that on your experience?
Keep doing this important work. As time goes by this Chanel will grow. There are many Americans that can't live in the U.S. on their social security and are looking for other options. My wife is from San Luis Potosí and we have traveled all over Mexico. I have been saying to everyone for over 30 yrs how great Mexico is. Now is when it's starting to catch on. Personally I want to spend two years going from Airbnb to Airbnb and tour all of Mexico when I retire.
I visited chiapas in October 1993. Needless to say my year in Mexico was incredibly interesting. I arrived in Mexico from New Zealand knowing nothing and left with a 30+ year passion for the country. I've been back several times, but not back to Chiapas. Now I'm planning to spend some if my old age there, and your videos on San Cris and the state have pretty much convinced me it's the place I want to be. Many, many thanks, Janet
My issue right now is understanding how to have my own vehicle in Mexico to drive around the country, it is huge and I can't really expect to find a taxi everywhere in the rural areas only in huge cities and don't want to rent a car every day for months
Can I buy my own car in Mexico to keep in storage until I move there or easier way to import from Canada or USA a used car to mainland Mexico, I been so confused and frustrated with figuring out the process to have car long term in Mexico
Great video! Reminds me of why I loved this region so much during my travels there and filled in gaps of my understanding and some places I wasn't able to get to. What about the coast? It's very difficult to find any info, insights, tips, or quality content from the Chiapas coastal region. Thank you.
How is it possible to spin Tuxtla into a nice city? I have lived here for 20 years and it is a smelly and poorly maintained capital of Mexico. Yes Chiapas has many gems of nature but trying to get around can be challenging. Many sellers of crafts are just merchants who buy cheap from the artisans or they take it on consignment. I live in Copoya. You did not mention the tallest monument to Jesus Christ, locate on a bluff overlooking Tuxtla Gutiérrez.
There has been conflict there before, yes. But today, it is currently back to normal. There are still conflicts sometimes on the border with Guatemala but I wouldn't worry too much if you're planning to go to the border.
Yes but they no longer doing it and they were only fighting the government i wouldn't call them terrorists they didn't a choice thats the only way they can be heard wouldn't worry about it
I visited Chiapas in the 1980s and I can attest that I found it magical, too. One of the most memorable places in Mexico for me.
Agree
I agree Chiapas is amazing. I want to be there❤.
Chiapas is a hidden wonder of the world.
I love Chiapas! Been there twice and would love to return to see Palenque. We visited a ranch about a 45 minute drive from San Cristobal and rode horses in the country. It was a beautifu; experience.

Thanks for suggestion. Will keep it in mind. I do have a blog post about it mexicorelocationguide.com/assisted-living-facilities-in-mexico/
