Thanks for the videos on the IC-7300. I'm an old new ham that's retired and needed a hobby to keep me mentally active. Right now, FT8 fits the bill for me. 73 - Ro,KK7EWT

It's nice to hear from you and thanks for commenting here. Good idea! I got tired of playing mind games on my iPad so I have taken up CW again. Hope to hear you on FT8, Vry73!

@@HamRadioAdventures Thanks for the reply. I've started on CW learning but got distracted with FT8. I'm not very good with voice as I also had a stroke a few years back. I'm now 69 and know that those skills will lag a little compared to my digital skills. I was an IT Administrator for over 20 years and worked in the computer industry for over 30 years. I will be looking for you on FT8, 73- Ro, KK7EWT.

I am using a USB cable only for connecting my IC-7300 to my computer with a virtual com port. I also have HRD selected as my radio instead of using the radio itself. I can't remember why I was doing it this way but I can tell you this GridTracker program is not working with my setup evidenced by a constant "waiting for message", no frequency displayed, and no connect lines on the map. Is there a way of making this program work without adding the programming cable and keeping HRD selected as my radio? It has been such a PITA getting HRD working and WSJT-X communicating (fairly) reliably, I would like to keep the current configuration.
Thanks for the video and sharing your expertise with all of us Hams who are not as knowledgeable as you are for making these various pieces work.

Hello and thank you so much for commenting. I have not tried that yet. Don’t connect HRD when it prompts you to connect to the radio. Just open a HRD Logbook. Use the USB cable for WSJTX and you can enter your radio as the rig. It works fine that way, without issue. Good luck, happy new year and good DX!

IS your gridtracker still working after the HRD 6.8 update?
