I would have honestly done the same had the answer been "Gemini"... Because of my bad experiences, just like this guy said. ALL my ex boyfriends are Gemini, they all broke up with me/abandoned me out of nowhere. One ex even ghosted me despite us talking daily for 6 months and we NEVER ONCE argued! There was only love and happiness and mad passion in our relationship. He even said he would tear apart anything that tries to come between us, that I was the light in his darkness and it was finally his turn to be happy etc etc etc, blah blah blah, and yet he ghosted me out of nowhere. I can't stand Geminis and will never date a Gemini ever again. I even had an ex-friend who is a Gemini female, and she would name me her sister and her best friend, then ignore and avoid me like I was the worst thing ever. I'm not perfect, no, but everyone else in my life loves being around me, it's just that all Geminis I have ever been around will SAY one thing and DO the opposite. This is why I would have pushed the button immediately if the man had said "Gemini", because they are utterly UNRELIABLE and completely TWO FACED in my experience and so I say NEVER AGAIN! @@paulisnatis If you have an obvious outward feature that people react to everyday in non-romantic interactions that is something that is revisited everyday. There is no "inner work" you can maybe become numb to it or delude yourself into thinking they are not reacting to you. Especially when those people are family or long time friends. This isn't just an issue of people being attracted to you or dating.
I have been mooed at and mocked in public by a stranger for an entire bus ride.. And so have many other plumper ladies. When you’re so mistreated it’s good to have your guards up. Unless you’ve personally experienced it I don’t think anyone has the right to talk… It’s a perfectly fine self preservation move.

Insecurity isn't an excuse to be toxic, and in fact toxic people are often very insecure. She was unnecessarily aggressive against someone because of her own assumptions about what he was thinking, that's toxic af. As mentioned, he was pretty honest and made himself pretty vulnerable and was attacked for it.

She wasn't particularly aggressive, she was just insecure. She acted impulsively because of her low self-esteem and probably regretted it later. It's not particularly toxic behaviour to me, just an avoidant personality.

When I was a kid, I was “asked out as a dare” twice. When I said yes, the joke was revealed and all the kids made fun of me. Once was traumatizing enough, but the second time, my self esteem was completely compromised until I was 15 years old. Anytime a boy said he liked me, I got angry and refused to believe it was true. Fear of rejection is real but fortunately I was able to grow out of it. I still deal with image issues because of those experiences. Sometimes I wonder if my own husband really likes me. lol.

It should be like this: if you press the button, you're the one who leaves. If you're rejected 2X, then you have to leave. And then send the person who left back in line for up to 3X so that leaving doesn't mean you don't get to meet anyone else.

I'm realizing that an inherent flaw of the format is that you have a room full of guys, and a room full of girls, and only one of each might end up going out. For all we know, there could be two people back there who are perfect for each other, but never meet because they both got eliminated by someone else.

Honestly, it is a wise lesson in why controlling your insecurities is important. It is understandable why she thought he rejected her because she is overweight, but at the same time, she projected it on him, causing her to basically create a self-fulfilling prophecy
it very much looked like he was about to reject her. His entire body language suggested it, heavily, even down to hesitating and making "yikes" faces when asked why he wouldn't normally date a girl like her. And that's not even mentioning the weird intense look he had when his blindfold was first removed.

As someone who has lost upwards of 100+ lbs, and considers themselves "slightly" muscluar and in shape, I never realized how much peoples OWN view about their weight reflects their dating prefrences. I have noticed that they use this as a common trope in the show, but as a former LARGE person I can tell you that not everyone is like this. I understand if you are body positive, but making a change for yourself in that regard will have lasting effects on the dating side of your life. You need to be able to reflect and see that not everyone views you the same way you do. I really wish the first girl would of given the guy a chance to explain himself D:. I guess it can really show you how physical insecurity in many regards can really effect people.

Ya know the sad thing is, how fast these rejections happen is actually reflective of how people make dating choices a lot of the time. It's not just pressured by the game. People will hear one thing they don't love and make all kinds of assumptions about you as a person, and then immediately write you off without even bothering to TRY to learn who you are. But the more common thing in my opinion, is for people to have standards that are both arbitrary and aren't actually reflective of a person that is good for them. They think "oh yeah this is good we're compatible", and then one of two things tends to happen after that.
One, somewhere down the line they find that one thing that doesn't match the mold to a T (just like in my original point) and immediately lose interest even with an established relationship.
Two, they remain convinced the person is perfect for them even though they actually aren't at all, which often seems like it ends the worst.
I guess I get the thing about the vibes. With just the first seconds of a conversation with someone I can feel the familiarity or not.

I think it's strange to trust a familiar feeling with someone you've spent 2 minutes with. But I also find that my perspective on someone is highly different in the first two minutes than after you've interacted with them for weeks, months, etc. Not to mention that surface level charm is extremely common in the most highly manipulative people.

Just saying life is complicated, and being too rigid with a "type" can lead to missed opportunities. life is a balance, and compromise is often required for the ideal outcome.
That said, your point is very valid and well taken. It's not good for anyone to waste time for both parties if one party is not feeling it, I'm only saying that automatically dismissing someone because they don't tick every box on some list you have in your head is probably unwise. One or two dates in is when you should decide to move on, not right at the first sight.
People are not good at honesty, or rejection though, so I could see how this may not work for everyone.
People who pride themselves on sticking to a type and describing how many times that have dated someone who fits it, are just saying "I stick to a type and it never works out. The relationship always ends."

TBH I understood the plus sized girl so much. i was her size for a very long time in life, and got super defensive too.
