Thanks. Valence 3D deserves more attention than it currently gets.

I came to Valence 3D from Nomad Sculpt. Creating geometry without a clay brush, a smooth brush and voxel remesh was a complete mystery to me.
I found Vertex Senpai’s alarm clock example a super simple way of leaning about faces, edges, vertices, extrusion, indenting and bridging. I couldn’t be bothered to learn Blender and I used to dream about such things when creating hard surface models in Nomad.
In working through this alarm clock model, I made mistakes, but I had some experience to understand what I was doing wrong.
3D modelling isn’t easy-sculpting or low poly. Someone who has never used such software, the virgo intacta, will always find the initial entry painful but will find no easier way of being eased in than this.

I put an edge loop in the clock cylinder and then tried to remove it. If you delete the edge loop, all the faces get removed, which is at least standard behavior I think. But if you dissolve the edge loop, it the vertices aren't removed. They're still there, though the act of dissolving their edge was pretty much a declaration that you didn't want them. I tried a few things to get rid of them, and every one of them trashed the mesh.

Hi, yes that's an issue I hope the developer will fix in next update. You can post about this issue on the Valence 3D discord server.

    Namesté Vertex Senpai,
Verry nice tutorial, thank you for that.
I am looking for a program to quickly construct parts for 3D printing with a price everyone can afford.
Well, seems like Valence 3D is (again) a program more for the "animators" that will scale the finish Object to fit thumbwise, and not for those ones, that need there lines and faces exactly xx millimeters.
    Or do i oversee something?
Keep on doing those tutorials, you have great teaching skills.
    Best regards from Germany

There's a measurement tool in Valence 3D actually. Maybe I will make a tutorial on how to measure in Valence in future.
Nomad sculpt is also a great app for making 3D printable 3D models. Check that out if you haven't already.

All scaling appears to be percentages, is there a way to input exact values? For example, a cube, scaled into 100mm x 50mm x 5mm

    • @vertexsenpai3D
      @vertexsenpai3D  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes, it can be done. There's an option for unit of measurement, (tap on the button next to the white cross at the right bottom) by default it's set to centimeter. You can change that to milimeter.
After that when you add a box, make sure the 'advanced' in enabled. Now you can set the number using the dial.
You can also check the measurement of an existing object by tapping on 'toggle measure' option.

According to the developer the Boolean tool is being developed and will be released in a future update.
