The way he says ‘he’s not like my Kal El. Not yet’ makes me feel like this is going to be like Injustice, and Captain Luthor comes from a world where Luthor is a good guy and Kal El turned bad after something happened
I like that there's a good balance between Lois's newsroom drama, Clark's superhero battles, the teen angst, and the family dynamics. Luthor being an antihero is a fantastic addition as well. Looking forward to where this goes...
7734 is a project in the comics run by General Lane designed to protect earth from alien invasion. All the heroes are on earth prime and the superman in elseworlds aside from clark was John Deegan who altered reality to make himself superman.

For what its worth I'm a HUGE superman fan and I'm absolutely in love with the show. The 7734 dog tag may be a reference to something in the comic books. In the Comic Books, Project 7734 was a secret operation headed by General Lane to protect earth against extraterrestrial threats, it specifically came into play during the New Krypton storyline, I believe. And Since since General Lane is an antagonist of Superman's and Lois's in the comics this may be the setup to get to him to that point here, since many new time viewers may not know the significance of Lane as a villain to Clark and Lois. Anywho I love the show, I love your reviews and I'm definitely all in now.
They could have used the new suit but just altered the coloring in post-production like Zack Snyder has done in his upcoming Snyder-cut Justice League. I think the use of the Elseworlds black suit served the purpose of telling the viewer that black suit Superman is very different from this one.
Unless Crisis could have changed Deegan's fate on Earth-Prime or that he might've done something as Superman offscreen before the events of part 3 of Elseworlds

Although this is probably a story birthed from crisis, I'd imagine they'd keep the main story as self contained as possible as to not scare off new viewers! (Not to say there won't be arrow verse connections, such as characters I won't name for spoiler reasons appearing later in the season, but for the most part this story will be self contained)
I highly doubt that the Monitor would allow him to destroy whole worlds. The reason for John was to test the heroes in the first place for crisis. Meaning if he was to stray from his objective of testing the heroes, the monitor would not allow it

I think that the writers were aware of the many complaints about how Superman was portrayed or utilized on the Supergirl show so they are using this new show to establish Superman. He will have connections to the Arrowverse but they are not going to be beholden to what has come before which will allow more focus on Superman and his immediate family. Perhaps as the episodes go on, they will reference Kara. Regarding Clark, we have not seen how Crisis affected him or his history apart from Lois' comment about "the boys". He new prior to Crisis there was just Jonathan but now he has boys.

They wrote Clark well in his first real appearance on the show and didn't have to belittle him to prove Kara's value as a hero. Supergirl can stand on her own without the dumbing down of her cousin. She's done so in the comics and I still am optimistic that the writers will do so on her final season.

I agree. The brothers becoming enemies doesn’t fit with the story we’ve seen so far. It’d be a very CW thing to have them turn on each other, and fight over Sarah. But neither of those things fit with Jordan & Johnathan. While they obviously go back and forth a bit, it’s an understandable, brotherly amount, and they both genuinely care about each other. John hasn’t shown any interest in Sarah either, he has a girlfriend, Sarah clearly has only shown interest in Jordan. So it feels like the show is refreshingly going down a much better, nuanced, well written story. Which is exactly what Superman & his family deserves. I sincerely hope it keeps it up.
Gazette reporter is Chrissy Beppo. They won't use Chloe because it's a character created specifically for the Smallville TV show and is not traditionally a Superman character. The fun part is that Beppo is the name of Super-Monkey in the comics.

Supposedly this Lex Luthor isn't just another Lex he might be based off of Alexander Luthor Jr of Earth 3 Home of the Evil Superman-Ultraman.

Heroes are always reduced in scope when appearing in another hero's comic or tv show. And are at maximum prowess in their own comic or tv show.
