I like how they portrayed Jordan's anxiety, some friends of mine have social anxiety as well and it's just horrible, the lack of self-confidence, the panic attacks, the tremors and the depression, the actor who portrays Jordan expresses it all so naturally
I always thought it was either adrenaline, or really slow absorption of sun energy due to his human DNA hindering the Kryptonian DNA - but your idea is really cool. They radiate off one another. Cool idea.
The first time he was over the ship and the second time he used powers was after discovering and be close to the ship, maybe he needs to stay inside the ship to be overloaded or change to full kryptonian
That fired writer has an axe to grind. There are other women and minorities working on the show. Yet she's the only one that has issues. She's doing one of my pet peeves. Getting canned assuming it's for reason other than her work. When people don't like me, I don't immediately assume it's because I'm black. People can not like you because they don't care for your personality. That's usually the cause. As someone that expected this show to be terrible, I've been pleasantly surprised at the caliber of this show. The way Clark and Lois have been written is near flawless. It doesn't seem like a CW show. In fact the writers seem to be using the classic CW tropes as red herrings. Doing things that lead to typical CW drama but then not having the typical outcome. Best example of this thus far is Jordan and Jonathan's relationship. They get mad at each other, they fight, but at the end of the day they have each others back. They behave like actual brothers. Side note: This show is in the "Arrowverse". At the end of Crisis, everyone got put on the same Earth and some events/history where different because the previous multiverse wasn't restored, a new one took it's place. When Tyler's Superman first hears from Lois at the end of Crisis. She says tell Clark she needs help with the boys. They established that he had twins post Crisis before this show launched.

From everything I've heard and read, Crisis basically was a chance to consolidate the shows to one world, and decide how much baggage each show wanted to carry from Pre-Crisis. Flash did the same thing, with Cisco literally taking a couple episodes off to go track everything that had changed since Crisis (old allies were enemies, tons of new rogues with new histories and back stories that characters had no idea about, Cisco owning a Superman shirt and not remembering ever buying one, etc). They mention at the end of Crisis that instead of one infant son, Lois and Clark have twin boys. Since he didn't have many appearances prior to Crisis, it was an opportunity to write their own version of his backstory so far and make THAT canon. There was almost a Superman and Lois/Batwoman crossover, but covid messed the scheduling up. I believe that this show is still in canon with the others, and Cryer is this world's Lex, but since Kara has tabs on him, Clark is cool leaving him to her. When Clark finally discovers that the guy in the suit is "Lex Luthor", I'm sure he'll have a "wait... you're not Lex" moment. Even though his character has moved on to different things within the context of the Arrow-verse, I think it'd be great to have POC CW Jimmy Olsen stop by and visit his best friend for an episode or two, maybe with a couple of flashbacks to their first encounter, etc.
Sidenote... "To HELL and back..." Obviously there could be some sort of meaning to "hELL" reading as "7734", and Superman could be John Deegan, the crazy doctor from Earth-90 Arkham Asylum who took on black suit Superman's appearance (though he was pretty messed up by the end of Elseworlds), or it could be a random universe with an evil Superman... but maybe it's also a new, CW flavored riff on the character H'El? that is the only time he has ever shown any kind of special abilities or powers. I think it is going to be that way for both them. Instead of getting their powers from Earth's yellow sun they get their powers from each other.
I don't think it's necessarily a proximity thing, but i do think it's an emotion thing. like jordan /cares/ the most about jonathan, and when he's threatened, he channels his power the most. him being able to tap into his powers is going to be contingent about how much jordan cares in a given moment. and given that combined with jordan's emotional/mental heath issues? that's so interesting and i want to see more.
@@wordywolf3 I think it's absolutely a proxy thing. Johnathon has only shown his abilities when Jordan is around. I think Jordan has powers as well but they are not developed or have manifested yet. But I think they need each other to use their powers. Kinda like how Clark/Kal-El needs Earth's Yellow sun.
i think so too, since before crisis Clark and Lois had 1 kid maybe the boys powers only work when they're in the same vicinity because they were created by Crisis.
@@wordywolf3 even if it’s not a proxy thing it may still be a twin thing. Both boys were tested and essentially failed. Emotion is going to play a role in any powers either boy gain but I feel like there’s more nuance to it
I do think he's from an alternate universe where he was "off world" for some reason (in that fancy ship and suit of his) and encountered something in space that spared him from the crisis moment, but also consumed his earth (for the most part) and left the john cryer Lex as the main lex, but him without any real universal connection. so, naturally, this lex deems superman responsible (which he is ish) and is bound and determined to keep him from destroying/enslaving this earth as it is. i think he'll either team up with some baddies or be semi-convinced to this earth's superman's goodness, but then be killed by this earth's lex. i genuinely don't see a lot of longevity in this luthor and that makes me sad.
In terms of diversity, should also be noted that the actress playing Lana has Moroccan-Jewish parents and the actress playing daughter Sarah is of Australian/Latino ethnicity. And as far as African-Americans playing "villains" in Captain Luthor and Sean, Morgan Edge is portrayed by a white actor.
The actresses who is playing sarah and lana are still seen as white so it's not racial diversity if they are known and shown as white in show. It's more female diversity but not racial diversity.Even the actor playing lana's husband is latino in real life but is seen as white,so that not racial diversity.
The actresses who is playing sarah, sarah's younger sister(who is latino in real life too) and lana are still seen as white so it's not racial diversity if they are known and shown as white in show. It's more female diversity but not racial diversity.Even the actor playing lana's husband is latino in real life but is seen as white,so that not racial diversity.
On one hand, I wouldn't be surprised if they just scrapped any concept of connected CW-verse and just spun off S+L into its own pocket world with a different Sam Lane and Luthor, but they've also had alternate versions of the characters that look nothing like each other as well during Crisis.
They aren't scrapping it. The show has been confirmed to exist within the Arrowverse on Earth-Prime. The same Earth on which The Flash, Batwoman, Supergirl, Black Lightning and Legends are also based.
The Black Suit Superman from Elseworlds was John Deegan, and he ended up in Arkham at the end of the cross over, after being returned to his original self, so it's very unlikely for him to have been the Kal-El of this Luthor's world.
@@CarlosHuiskens I know, ever since the trailer it made it look cinematic as far as the look and feel. Then when the pilot episode aired, I noticed it was widescreen. During Crisis on Infinite Earths when Grant Gustin Flash met Ezra Miller Flash, the aspect ratio changed because he is the Flash from the DCEU
Just found this site. Already subscribed. Late to the Superman and Lois game and love it. Wondering when you will upload the next 3 episodes? Or maybe I am overlooking where they are
I love the casting decision of an African American actor to play Luther so right away we know it's alternate universe Luthor and not a Luthor we know in earth prime timeline. Wazzup Homies
to be fair any actor outside of Jon Cryer would have told us that it is an alt universe Luthor. Or if not alt universe some future timeline. I have seen people trying to say this Luthor is from the future even though the show has pretty much confirmed him to be from a different universe.
@@darth_kal-el A lot of people definitely are still confused but anyone that has kept up with the Arrowverse and has seen Crisis knows what is happening.
During Elsworlds The Monitor gave Dr. John Deegan a book that could rewrite the universe. In his second attempt he became the Superman of Earth 1 donning a black suit. In the end the heroes retrieve the book and reset reality, leaving Deegan in Arkham Asylum. The Evil Superman from Capt. Luthor's universe is probably not Deegan, they're just using that suit.
I can’t watch this show, cause I don’t have the streaming service, so I don’t even understand the context of the show, and I’m not even the biggest DC fan, but getting to watch them nerd out is worth watching.
Hey Hector, a fan from back in Collider days. I just want to point out. They have not called Captain Luthor Lex that I can recall. That still leaves a door open for John Cryer in the future. This is a Superman who has been Superman for at least fifteen years plus. That would make his battles with Lex Luthor date back a while justifying an older Lex Luthor than Captain Luthor appears to be. He could be Lex's son in the alternate reality.
I am really enjoying your reactions to this show. I too am surprised that I am enjoying it as much as I am. And yes, I agree that Lois is my favourite character at the moment. I kind of think that this Superman's universe has never had a Lex Luthor. I think they've taken an interesting take on the motivation for Lex to hate Superman. Can't wait to see where it goes. Am going to watch episode 3 with the family tonight.
I would like to counter Hectors comment on Luthor being just another black villain I see him not a a black villain I see them portraying him as a black hero he’s a soldier from an earth with a evil Superman and he’s trying to stop another earth from potentially being destroyed... it has been said before Superman is one bad day away from turning evil.. but that’s how I see it...
I'm really liking all the storylines so far. Clark's VS Captain Luthor is awesome. Lois striking out on her own to take down Edge is cool. The boys struggling with (lack of) powers/bullies but still being firmly in each other's corners is great. I'm even liking this version of General Lane, he's usually a character I don't care all that much about, and I'm very interested to see if his pragmatism will end up butting up against C&L's idealism in ways that create real conflict. Also, will he be swayed by Luthor to flip allegiances? There is so much story potential in any one of these plot lines. We're so fortunate to be able to watch all of them unfold at once.
Hologramps aka Joe El was telling Clark the whole truth about Jordan? Clark was telling Lois to behave not the boys haha Love Lois Lane ! Maybe when the brothers are together powers come about. Damn! Injustice Superman!
That other writer seemed to be a real pain in the ass in the writers room, sounds like sour grapes, live tweeting and bad mouthing the show while it’s pilots on the air just shows that.
I mean this show was also produced by Geoff Johns, who was a part of the Justice League movie, and Ray Fisher has named him as the worst offender of abuse on that movie. So I wouldn't write off those claims.
I would think once Supergirl ends Cryer is getting rescast for S&L Luther because his version just doesn’t seem remotely threatening for this Superman but the captain is not Lex. More likely he’s Alexander Luthor, a hero in the comics from another earth
You need to watch Smallville then, because the only place Lois Lance is a damsel in distress is early Superman comics and Lois and Clark TV Show and early animations.
I think the name is John Deegan in the else worlds crossover but still sick to see him back in the black suit, the fact that Luthor knows this worlds superman is good rn but doesn't care and still wants to kill him shows he really is a Luthor and I'm excited to see where this goes
The show is still connected to the Arrowverse. I read they just wanted to focus on character building in season 1 and its kind of hard to do that when your throwing in crossovers and worrying about tying in other characters from other shows.
While im enjoying the episodes, if it turns out this show is entirely seperate from the Arrowverse...itll be a dissapointing step back. Crossovers arent a must, but to have 7+ yrs of a collective universe built and not acknowledged. Just feels like it could be a step backwards after so much progress has been done on TV from DC.
Creating or including diverse characters just for the sake of a sense of inclusivity without any substantive story to make it interesting is a horrible way to make a show. Any writer worth their salt can craft a story and make it work where the character regardless of their ethnicity gender or creed fits the story. The great part of this show is that it doesn't need beat you over the head with the fact that the cast is somewhat diverse. Remember the setting is small town midwest America, not urban Metropolis, you are not going to find that many POC and if you do, then you know it's forced. Tell the story first, tell it well, the rest will fall into place naturally. Stopping to think if it diverse enough is a shake your head moment. As an American Indian, I never see "my people" in 99% of TV shows, and yet I can still enjoy a good story without worrying about it or thinking I am somehow being slighted.
I'm hoping we still get Jon Cryer Lex and Captain Luthor is Alexander Luthor rather than Lex. And an evil Superman. But, we do also have a different actor playing Morgan Edge, so... we'll have to see. Captain Luthor is a good-guy antagonist rather than a villain.

Emotion is going to play a role in any powers either boy gain but I feel like there’s more nuance to it
Re: Captain Luthor and his Kal-el: gave me a "knightmare" vibe; something happens that turns him completely evil (a la BvS).
Jordan reminds me of Tom Cruise's son in War of the Worlds.
Hey guys are you going to do more Superman and Lois reactions?
The Black Suit Superman from Elseworlds was John Deegan, and he ended up in Arkham at the end of the cross over, after being returned to his original self, so it's very unlikely for him to have been the Kal-El of this Luthor's world.
Have you guys ever noticed that the Superman & Lois episodes is in widescreen format?
Its done intentionally to give the show a more cinematic feeling.
The actor playing luthor is not ethnically african american. He is Belizean/Tanzanian american.
Luthor's universe is probably not Deegan, they're just using that suit.
been waiting for this.
You guys are killing me with the chonkla stuff. 😆
I can’t watch this show, cause I don’t have the streaming service, so I don’t even understand the context of the show, and I’m not even the biggest DC fan, but getting to watch them nerd out is worth watching.
If you can download the CW app it’s free on there just gotta sit through commercials
The Reaction to the evil superman was kinda underwhelming....might be just me but i really enjoy seeing evil superman live action
Am going to watch episode 3 with the family tonight.
love for them to introduce jay nakamura in thid show
I would like to counter Hectors comment on Luthor being just another black villain I see him not a a black villain I see them portraying him as a black hero he’s a soldier from an earth with a evil Superman and he’s trying to stop another earth from potentially being destroyed... it has been said before Superman is one bad day away from turning evil.. but that’s how I see it...
I think similarly.
I cannot believe the show I'm watching...and from the WC! especially with shows Like batwahmyn and super dupper girl running at the same time.
Yeah, if you're too woke for a Berlanti show, then something is wrong.
@Ben Holmes 💯

I mean this show was also produced by Geoff Johns, who was a part of the Justice League movie, and Ray Fisher has named him as the worst offender of abuse on that movie. So I wouldn't write off those claims.
@@blueskybelyr I can in this case. Because those accusations are in complete contrast to what we’re seeing onscreen.
Wally shared the super booze with Rip, I guess Barry and Cisco are holing out on the rest.
Yes this show is still connected to Supergirl
8:58 little did he know...
This Luthor is Master Chief from Halo
The superman and lois show is 🔥🔥🔥
I would think once Supergirl ends Cryer is getting rescast for S&L Luther because his version just doesn’t seem remotely threatening for this Superman but the captain is not Lex. More likely he’s Alexander Luthor, a hero in the comics from another earth
Isnt there supposed to be only one universe now after the Crisis events? All Earths mashed into one.. Love the show!
Nice reaction!!
I was never a fan of Lois Lane. She was too much a damsel in distress and Olive Oyl had more chutzpa. I like where she is going in this.
You need to watch Smallville then, because the only place Lois Lance is a damsel in distress is early Superman comics and Lois and Clark TV Show and early animations.
I've been wondering about that "to hell and back" bit; wondering if H'el might show up somehow. Random thing.
I wouldve liked if Johnathan said to lois but they have superhearing!
love these guys react
Exactly like I do
I think the name is John Deegan in the else worlds crossover but still sick to see him back in the black suit, the fact that Luthor knows this worlds superman is good rn but doesn't care and still wants to kill him shows he really is a Luthor and I'm excited to see where this goes
This is still part of the arrowverse according to Wikipedia
10:00 Did someone forget that Emmanuelle Chriqui is in the show?
Alternate Luthor reminds me of Nero from Star Trek.
The show is still connected to the Arrowverse. I read they just wanted to focus on character building in season 1 and its kind of hard to do that when your throwing in crossovers and worrying about tying in other characters from other shows.
Just like the comics!
The "evil Superman" from Elseworlds was John Dee a.k.a. Doctor Destiny.
@@sady954 Ah ok, phew! Thanks for clarifying.
Why did you guys stop reacting to it?
the grandfather is coming from good place. He cares he knows keeping his secret etc can be big burden
Imagine if in the end of one of the seasons of this show Robert Pattinson has a cameo.
i love legends
Injustice Superman 😁. I hope they adapt the Injustice storyline, and this is a Luthor that escaped that world as it was destroyed and he's Ultraman
I caught that reference, Augustine, haha!
Guys still waiting for the snyder cut movie reviews . Cant wait
Haven't seen it yet.
1:50 Hector was mephisto All along
If we sync up to watch this on Patreon, it's with the CW, yes?
Hmmm. I got that reference Hector. I got it. Lol
ayo what app is this on??
did yall give up on this show
The real question is could Augustin have used "super" as a descriptor more?
guess you cant cast a black guy as a bad guy character anymore.
😕on hiatus for 2 months and not getting 3rd episode until March 23rd cause of positive Covid testing
I know that's COMPLETELY selfish of me but dang that show is just so refreshing
@@rick-olivierfilion4 Actually Superman & Lois will pause after airing it's fifth episode on March 23rd, then Supergirl takes over on March 30th until Superman & Lois returns May 18th
@@jimmy_woods4337 This is correct.
It'll be 5 episodes before the hiatus.
Can You guys react to EP 3, is even better.
was lex luther fr another planet in the comics,i thught he was
I know you guys keep saying Lex Luthor but they never call him Lex, only Captain Luthor. Do what if it's not Lex but a relative? Jus wondering. Love the content.
