Been to Peru numerous times and visited places all over the country. My favorite as of right now is Kuelap! Still haven't been to Machu Picchu, though. I know Lima like the back of my hand! Lima is great, too. We're going again next year. I've also been to Chile and Colombia. Felices viajes!
Your house is AWESOME. Glad I stopped by. Great food and there was money just lying around everywhere. 10/10, plan on coming back next year. Sorry I missed you, judging by your family pictures you seem like cool people.
I go to Colombia quite often. Cali is absolutely beautiful. Those going to Bogotá need to visit Monserrate. The Cathedral is a true gem too. In Santa Marta there's the entire complex where Simon Bolívar spent his last days. In the deep South the town of Ipiales has an amazing church built in 1915. For food my favorite things are actually the grilled meats found at the parrillas. Ngl, morcilla, blood sausage, is my personal favorite. Another must eat is lechona. It's originally from Tolima. I haven't been there for the authentic version without rice but the ones with it are still quite amazing. The most famous dish is the bandeja paisa. This is particularly a specialty of the Paisa region. Sancocho is also more or less a national dish. One of my best memories is eating sancocho at a small street side in Cartagena. For snacks, the empanadas are always good. I also like the potato balls, which in Colombia contain seasoned rice. Buñuelos are great in the morning with coffee or chocolate. In Cali, at least the manjar blanco since it's everywhere. Juices from local fruits are quite popular and unique. The popular local sodas are mostly Postobón products, the best being Colombiana. Alcohol? Standard beers can change by region. Aguila is probably the most popular brand. Pretty much like Corona. I prefer Club Colombia. The less said about Poker the better. BBC is the most well known craft beer. the national alcoholic drink is aguardiente, or "guaro;" it's an anise flavored white liquor and an unsuspecting demon. Colombian rum is high quality. It varies but region what's available. Dictador and La Hechicera have international renown. Rum Medellin and Ron de Caldas are probably the most common. Valle del Marqués, only found on the Valle del Cauca, is my favorite. This isn't even close to scratching the surface. And it's already long and rambling. I know Marc and family are doing videos this year but it's a little help for those going soon. I am in love with th country and wish to spread what knowledge I have to help others.
I'm Italian married to a beautiful Peruvian! and Colombia has nothing to offer in terms of food! If you want to eat and drink well in South America, your destination is PERU! (and there is no discussion) hahahah The country has the oldest history of any other, in fact Colombia was part of the "Kingdom of Peru" for more than centuries, Ceviche is a jewel from Peru to the World, only in Peru can you find high quality ceviche everywhere , the dishes are recognized worldwide, if you want to drink well, nothing like a good Pisco in the bars of Lima you will find the best craft beers in South America! I recommend eating all types of food in Peru, They have the largest variety of dishes in the world! Sea food is famous worldwide, but you must not forget that the country has the best dishes in the entire American continent! "CHIFA food" is wonderful, it mixes the best of China and Peru and "NIKKEI food" is from another planet! It mixes the fusion of Japan and Peru, it should be noted that Peru is the only Spanish-speaking country with more Japanese and Chinese blood, the country has a unique fusion in the entire region.
"Creole food" is a jewel that Peruvians protect with suspicion, it is the food they prepare at home every day! It is a fusion of Afro-Peruvian, Lima and coastal food, above all, the dressings are the key to the success of Peruvian food, the chili peppers and above all, they do everything well! "Amazonian food" is really good, Peru is a megadiverse country, you should not forget that more than 65% of the Peruvian territory is just Amazonian jungle, Peru is much more Amazonian than Colombia or even Brazil itself, in fact the Amazon is born in Peru! The "Novoandina" food comes from the Peruvian Andes, it is a mixture of modernity and the ancient Andes of Peru! It is a unique experience that you should not miss. The popular food in Peru is the famous "pollos a la brasa" roasted chicken in the Peruvian style! They are unique in the world and the most delicious chicken you can eat in your life. I often go to Peru and I LOVE this country! blessings from Italy.
I was debating on La Paz in my list. I dint know why I at least didnt put it in the extra list there at the end. Great sights right out of the city too
I'm from Argentina so I'm very partial 😂 Bariloche not only for winter sports bc it's amazing in Summer, wineyards in Mendoza taking time -the different regions are kinda far apart-, the Northwest, Salta and Jujuy with the Tren a las Nubes, Purmamarca and Humahuaca, Esteros del Iberá with it's astonishing wildlife... I need to stop but I can keep going on talking about Argentina like a car salesman. Thank you for your videos they are GREAT (and I agree always with your suggestions which is unusual of me 😂) Keep traveling!
Gocta waterfall is impressive, Quito has one of the best preserved historical center, Quilatoa Laguna is also impressive, Amazonia offers very unique experiences
Been fortunate to go to every South American nation!! My favorite city is Cartagena with Quito (biased jaja) a close second! Keep up the awesome videos!!!
As an argentinian, I think Córdoba is pretty cool. Of course, it isn't one of the main huge cities in the continent but there's a lot to do in the capital city and the interior of the province. By the way, South America is really huge, so if you're thinking about coming here, it might be better to pick a couple of countries and do cool regions of them for real instead of trying to see 5 capital cities in less than 2 weeks. Now some things I believe to be really important: If you're going to Iguazú (and you have to), remember to take the boat that takes you under the waterfalls (you can do it in both sides I think), unless you have small children with you, you don't wanna miss that experience. On the other side, Galápagos is probably the best place I've ever been to, it is expensive as hell so I hardly know anyone else who's done it (most people prefer to use that money in a couple of cheaper trips), but I have to say it is definately worth it. If you're going there I recomend doing Island hopping, spend a couple of days in each of the populated islands, be careful with the diving, and see nature as you've never done before. Good luck!

So many great places to visit in South America. I really enjoyed my trip to Ecuador. Quito was amazing and really enjoyed the coastal town of Manta. Thanks for another great video.
Omg I been waiting for you to post this video of where to go in South America !!!! Thank you Sir you and your wife travel blogs are the BEST!! We headed to Brasil this year 😊
Although I always have a good time in Rio, my favorite place to visit is Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. Good food, culture, history and some of the coolest laid back people I've ever met in my life.
I’m from Angra dos Reis. I’d recommend to anyone visiting Rio to check out Ilha Grande, Angra dos Reis and Paraty for some very nice boat tours. Paraty is a preserved colonial city with great architecture, cute shops and good restaurants - it’s about 4 hours south of Rio, no not a day trip, but easy enough to get to!
Great video! I've got to visit the waterfalls. I've been following your channel and learning a lot since I've recently starting making travel videos myself on my channel. Looking forward to more!
You said when the sun hits this ridge just right, these hills sing. Well, pal, I was dragged all over those hills and I did not hear any singing. So, I'll be building my summer home on a more magical hill, thank you.
Hi mark hope you and your family are well! We have been to the sacred valley in peru twice and to me personally the best place I have ever been to. I was wondering if you had any advice on Cartagena as my family and I are about to book a short trip to Colombia. Is Cartagena worth the visit? My family and I always watch your great videos!
Isla del Sol, Bolivia (Lake Titicaca) -- accessed from Copacabana, Bolivia -- is pretty spectacular. Hike along a ridge and look over the lake towards the Andes in the distance. Mendoza, Argentina is fantastic for the super pleasant and clean walkable city, but also for the cycling to the various wine "bodegas" with the Andes in the distance. Banos, Ecuador is also fantastic -- charming little town with tons of nature activities and day trips.
Just came from your podcast video. A podcast about how it was living in Argentina or Brasil would be really interesting I think. As someone who wants to live there someday hearing about your experience would be interesting.
I've never been to South America. In 2021 that WILL change as I plan to visit Brazil, Argentina , or Uruguay!!!! South America countries have amazing people, food, and culture from what I've seen through other travelers!!!!

I actually think Lima and especially the area around Barranco is very underrated. Where else can you go surfing, then walk 6 blocks to the best food scene in SA, and the nightlife is really fun! Medellin had been my favorite, but now it's expensive and overrun with expats looking for working girls.
I was in South America last summer (winter) for 5 weeks. Mendoza really has a kind of a small town feel even though it's fairly big. They celebrate Independence Day right. I'm actually going back to Chile later this month.

What is the most "dutch' city in Brazil? I like seeing culture clashes so if there is a good example of that, thats where I'd like to go Still need to visit Cuzco, Buenos Aires, and Barranquilla/all of Colombia where my family is from Gotta love those rice and beans
Visiting Quito and Puyo Ecuador in a week. Not going to lie, I’m a little nervous after reading about people getting robbed in broad daylight with machetes (in Quito). Nevertheless, I’m still excited for my first trip to South America!
Wolters World one instance was in the Historic District and the other was in Old Town. I will say, after re-reading these stories, one party was carrying their passports and wallets in hand and the other claimed to be carrying an expensive backpack, so that may be why.
Visiting Quito a couple years ago and had a great time. Stayed downtown as well at the Dann Carlton Hotel. Great location and was safe. You will have a great time.
The Europeans arrived in the XV century and never left. The majority of Native Americans were either massacred, or died of disease. They came first with the Columbus voyages. Which departed the day after the Jewish people were thrown out. The story of Latin America is not different from the United States. It’s a European civilization that started with getting rid of the natives when they arrived. Exact same thing.
@@RoxanneM- Even in USA and Canada they've plenty of cities in Spanish. All civilizations brought throughout History good and bad things. Don't forget that Mayas killed babies before Columbus arrival.

What is the most "dutch' city in Brazil? I like seeing culture clashes so if there is a good example of that, thats where I'd like to go
Still need to visit Cuzco, Buenos Aires, and Barranquilla/all of Colombia where my family is from
Gotta love those rice and beans
J Corbo Curitiba is the most German city in Brazil.
Have you ever been to Venezuela? I know it's not safe at all to travel to right now but I know it was safer years ago.
Visiting Quito and Puyo Ecuador in a week. Not going to lie, I’m a little nervous after reading about people getting robbed in broad daylight with machetes (in Quito). Nevertheless, I’m still excited for my first trip to South America!
Where were they? We didnt have issues in Quito and stayed downtown
Wolters World one instance was in the Historic District and the other was in Old Town. I will say, after re-reading these stories, one party was carrying their passports and wallets in hand and the other claimed to be carrying an expensive backpack, so that may be why.
Sounds a bit questionable
Visiting Quito a couple years ago and had a great time. Stayed downtown as well at the Dann Carlton Hotel. Great location and was safe. You will have a great time.
You should really do a video on Alaska.
One day we will. It's on the list
It seems Spain all those buildings 💕💕💕
You see a lot of spanish influence
The Europeans arrived in the XV century and never left. The majority of Native Americans were either massacred, or died of disease. They came first with the Columbus voyages. Which departed the day after the Jewish people were thrown out. The story of Latin America is not different from the United States. It’s a European civilization that started with getting rid of the natives when they arrived. Exact same thing.
@@RoxanneM- Even in USA and Canada they've plenty of cities in Spanish. All civilizations brought throughout History good and bad things. Don't forget that Mayas killed babies before Columbus arrival.
@@woltersworld That's why you don't speak Japanese...😂✌🇺🇸

Hey Wolter, What about Paraguay?? 🤗

Wolters World are you saying it’s not worth it?? 🧐
@@rosalir3773 I would not put it in my top 10 destinations. Asuncion was a good experience when I went but if I had to choose i would choose some of these other destinations first

I like the great flooded dessert of Brazil.
I wonder if ouro preto is OK? I only hear the news second hand.
My Portuguese teacher lives in minas and 40 areas were in a danger zones of flooding and landslides. Belo horizonte was flooded very badly and 44 people were killed. A lot homeless.
We loved ouro preto
Anyone looking to host a fijian guy and a hungarian girl for a south america trip ? Looking to come in few months! Will be amazing yo share cultural exchanges and experiences!
Honest question. How do you get to live in those places? What sort of work / career allows for this, or are you living there as an investor?
I mean you are are on his channel and watching his content, right? So thats part of your answer right there. He also works as a professor in a college/university. However there are many people who do only youtube and go live in various places. Of course youtube is only one type of remote online digital source of income. Many people do various other things for online income as well
