I watched a video here on youtube on how to make one and boy is it easy. I could not believe it. So I spent $23. and bought a half meter of 22 momme grade 6a silk...saved a bunch of cash and have the pleasure of knowing I made it myself. Oh, I do not have a machine and do all sewing by hand but this project is really quick.
Satin can be made of silk or polyester. Satin isn't a fiber it's the way the fiber is put into a fabric. Slip is silk satin while some other bonnet are polyester satin if that makes sense. But yeah, quality silk stuff is always expensive!
I have almost waist length 3a/3b hair and while I'm sure the $85 pure silk bonnet is a dream for the best curl maintenance overnight, it's just not a realistic expense for me personally. I've used a $5 wide band satin bonnet from Target for the past several years and only had to replace it once. It's roomy enough to fit all my curls and stays on throughout my crazy tossing and turning while I sleep. I may do a few minutes extra to refresh on occasion, but for the most part it works excellent for me. I'm loving seeing all the curl forward products and advances that have come along recently, but sometimes the old tried and true "cheap" options work just as well in my opinion. ♡
It would be cool if you did more battles between products, hair devices, brushes, etc. 💕 I love using my bonnets I bought from Amazon that has an adjustable string 🌟
I love my Slip Silk bonnet 😍 I saw it in one of your stories and I knew I had to try it since you said it never slips off throughout the night. You were so right!!! I've tried others from Amazon and I haven't found one that compares to Slip Silk yet. I just bought another one during black Friday 😁

I’ve finally started trying to actually embrace my curls (only took me 29 years 🙄), and I’m pretty sure I’ve bought every product in your line up. I’m still trying to figure out a good balance of the products though, but I’m working on it! My only problem is that I am definitely not getting 7 days out of my curls. Do you think it’s necessary to “refresh” your curls even on days you aren’t doing anything or going somewhere? I’m wondering if that’s maybe where I’m going wrong, because by day 4 I have a dang rats nest in my hair 🤣

Omg I tried that bonnet from ulta before (recently) and it smashed my hair down and didn't fit my head. Had to give it to my daughter. I ordered the one mane's by mel suggested off Amazon for cheap and it fits all my hair and doesn't fall off! That $85 one looks awesome though !!
Does the turban slip off at night? I'm a very rowdy sleeper so I'm looking for something that won't slip. The last thing I want to do is pay $85 on something that won't stay on at night.
At $85 you're better off with a $40 mulberry silk pillow case. Stuffing your hair into a bonnet starts to become a chore especially when it's over 20 inches

You can pop a silk/satin scarf over your head and then put on the turtle neck! Then it’ll go on smoothly!

Well.........real, authentic satin is NOT 10 dollars. That is polyester satin, which is not satin. Researching that would be beneficial here
