A Future Star Has Emerged - MLB The Show 24 Franchise Ep.3

  • Today we begin the MLB The Show 24 Franchise with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards are far from being one of the weakest teams in baseball, but they do have one of the most uncertain future. This is an experienced team and one of the oldest in the MLB. Every starting pitcher is at least 32 years old. The best two position players have over 10 years experience. The Cardinals will have to rebuild this organization regardless of their success in the near future. I'm excited to work on restoring this franchise to a championship standard that they have not seen in the last decade.
On my MrHurriicaneLP channel I make sports gaming lets play series. My series focus on building teams and players from sports like baseball and football. I play games such as Madden 24, NCAA Football 14, MLB The Show 24 and more.

OH - since you did mention him in this one, I can * *finally* * give you the final update on my Joe Michaels: 23 seasons, 744 goals and 909 assists, 1653 points. Was twice All-NHL First Team, once All-NHL Second Team. Record 8 Selke Awards, won the Conn Smythe as playoff MVP three times, and won the Masterton Trophy for dedication to the sport. Voted to the Hall of Fame. Honestly think that yours should also have made it, and the game robbed him with its ridiculous aging curve programming.

Make sure you’re always Discovering each position when scouting, Cane.
I’m doing a draft only rebuild of my own and my scout discovered a 21 year old OF from Indiana. He jumped to #1 on my board while not being ranked by other teams. After fully being scouted i couldn’t believe it, he ended up having 97 potential and being a 90 overall out of the draft!

Im most excited to see Tink Hence because my dad and i are Springfield Ticketholders (sorry we had to do your Wichita Wind Surge [Twin affiliates] like that 6-2 on tuesday), it wasnt a Tink start, unfortuantely, but I cant wait to see him play live.
It's weird, i was born near atlanta and am very much a Braves fan, but I've adopted Springfield as my AA team, so i want to see them do well in the Majors

Cane, I’ve got 3 suggestions for you:
    1. Trade Goldy, Edman, maybe Arrenado, and get a few prospects, maybe a good MLB player, and a couple of pitchers.
    2. Get yourself a really highly rated minor league director. That way your prospects develop a little quicker.
    3. Find a couple of pitchers in FA. That rotation is pure garbage .

I like Jack Iverson as a prospect, you should scout him further. Position flexibility, solid defense and a homegrown kid from Missouri.
In general tho, I think Pitcher is the way to go in this draft, since you have many outfield prospects. Maybe some older Relief Pitchers you already have a higher overall.

Great start to your series. St. Louis was a solid choice. It looks like they need some young SP’s. Find 2 good pitching scouts w/ high efficiency. Spend 6 weeks scouting east and west starters. Then 6 more weeks scouting int. and central starters. All SP’s will be at least 80% scouted and you’ll still have 2 weeks to find a closer or RP. Your 3rd scout can pick and choose some position players. It’s my favorite set-up for pitcher heavy drafts.

Someone with a bit more knowledge of the Cardinals than me can correct me if I am wrong but Walker came up through the minors as a 1B and was essentially forced into the OF with little experience just so they could get him in the lineup. So trading Goldy and putting him back into his natural position would be good.

I'm a few years deep in my angels franchise on 24 using the same settings (HOF and classic pitching) and I've had a good balance of games pitching wise, most games having a normal amount of runs allowed but a few where i get shelled and a few where i shut them down, so i think you might just be going through a bad streak

I play this a lot since it came out. Pitching is a lot better than the 23, in my opinion. Love the prospect haul possibilities with the vets you could trade. And you don’t have to handle the fans in real life when you have a 12+ loss record in the first 20 games. 😂
Side note: playing RTTS mode and my character was drafted by the Athletics and I’m closing games out for Gunnar Hoglund in AA and wondering where Aaron Don is. 😂😂

Position scouting works well for pitchers since there are so many players there, but I personally avoid it for position players as you will so often only have 1 or 2 draftable players and it’s just much quicker to scout them individually than waste weeks of position scouting to get someone to 100%.

Steve Castilla's low end potential/overall went up 5 points and top end down 1. If that trend continues with further scouting, he could be a really good player. What were the pitches he throws? I tend to shy away from starting pitchers that only have 3 pitches because I don't know anything about baseball, but I assume that fewer pitches leads to less options when one of your other pitches isn't working. :/
Edit: Billy Murray's potential/overall changed the same way that Castilla's did.
