MLB Draft! The Future Looks Promising - MLB The Show 24 Franchise (Year 2) Ep.15

  • Today we begin the MLB The Show 24 Franchise with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards are far from being one of the weakest teams in baseball, but they do have one of the most uncertain future. This is an experienced team and one of the oldest in the MLB. Every starting pitcher is at least 32 years old. The best two position players have over 10 years experience. The Cardinals will have to rebuild this organization regardless of their success in the near future. I'm excited to work on restoring this franchise to a championship standard that they have not seen in the last decade.
On my MrHurriicaneLP channel I make sports gaming lets play series. My series focus on building teams and players from sports like baseball and football. I play games such as Madden 24, NCAA Football 14, MLB The Show 24 and more.

I absolutely love the inclusion of previous numbers vs the current numbers. It really helps with the context of things. Like I didn’t remember Wynn’s exact slash but I liked that you included it for a refresher. Great touches Cane!

Have to keep it organized or it quickly becomes a mess of numbers that stop meaning anything.

Roby's actual pitch mix is a 4 seam that sits at 95, a high 70s 12-6 curveball with alot of movement , a low 80s circle change, and a low 80s slider.
This game tends to default to give every pitching prospect a generic repertoire with a low velo 4 seam and 2 seam with a curveball and changeup.

One thing to keep in mind even if Micheal kopech has a bad year it would be nice to have him in triple a for next year because a reliever with A potential is rare so it would be good to keep him. Also love the draft picks considering it was a weak class. Keep up the good work!!!

Need to change him to a STRETCH motion in the offseason! Adding some velocity since he throws harder in real life would be cool. And take away his worst pitch. Not many relievers have 4 pitches

Darrell "Deep Route" Marino instantly becomes the best prospect in the farm system. I think the best spot for him is 3rd base given his good glove and strong arm.

Honestly I just change potential every time I see a prospect like David Green. The word "potential" implies latent qualities that will develop into future success. You simply can't have a "potential" lower than your current ability. It is a horrible system that literally makes no sense. How would an 18 year old ENTER professional baseball with the coaching and strength training and become worse? Was his high school gym teacher more knowledgeable about baseball than professional minor league coaches? It is just stupid.

It’s their way of introducing players who peak early without largely rewriting much of the progression/ regression logic. It’s also possible that players perform well enough to bump their potential tbf
This is better than how Madden does things, where every player always gets better up to a certain age varying degrees based on merely snaps played with a development trait modifier.

    • @TheClevelander14
      @TheClevelander14 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

I completely agree with you, especially how OFTEN it happens with prospects!! It's definitely possible and realistic that some guys will peak in high school or college, and never perform in the Minors or get the chance in the Majors. With that said, In this game it happens with like 15 prospects every draft, super un-realistic. I love editing the high end prospects for other teams, setting up their gear and look to be more unique and realistic, and boost potential for players like David Green to be at least a few points above their current overall. They really need to rework the potential system to be more fluid and change with time, and if younger prospects could gain weight, height or facial hair as they age. There are other games that have those kind of systems, yet a massive studio with endless funds cant. Super frustrating.

I like the inclusion of those players with greater starting overall than potential. It creates interesting storylines, like "the kid who peaked in high school." James Outman of the Dodgers could be an example of this, showing great promise in his rookie season, but now he's struggling and has been sent down to AAA. Of course, we don't know what Outman's future holds, but if he never makes it back out of the minors and continues to decline, he could be the David Green you see here.

Not sure you’ll see this comment this late, but the most important thing to look at when scouting is difference between potential and overall. If the potential is 75-90 and the overall is 60-75 then you can bet that the potential will be 15 points higher than overall and somewhere in those ranges. Given you have at least 50 percent

Relievers usually don't get touched until the Competitive Balance Round A but dont be surprised if there are none by the 5th round and the 6th is a crapshoot usually unless youve dug DEEP to scout those NR & 150+ ranked guys. As for the RPs & CPs being ranked high in the game as opposed to IRL, pitchers have set positions in game whereas IRL its very fluid. We've seen starters become relievers and closers and vice versa. It'd be great if there were a readjustment of some ratings depending on whether pitcher is a starter or reliever but an automated process over time by the game itself. It feels cheap to do it manually but it also isn't a perfect science everyone cant be John Smoltz.

I would give Marino corner outfield as his secondary position he’s honestly not great but is capable right now and will only get better this way u can keep walker at 1b and Padilla is strictly a dh lol I wouldn’t even trust him at 1b he’s that bad. McNeil surprised me I thought that was a good pick and who knows he can one day be a 4-5 guy in the rotation or a good long reliever. Keep Garcia in a ball til he’s 22 and hopefully mid 60s than a full year in aa a full year in aaa if all goes well u will have a 24 year old stud. I like it overall 👍🏼I even think the lefty reliever will be a great lhp arm out of the pen in a few year if he meets his potential of 77 that’s really good for a reliever in this game especially as a 6th round pick

U needed to get a bench bat get rid of pache and mikolas for a good number 3 rotation guy even if it’s just a rental for the playoff push. Lastly maybe one more good reliever and u have a team who can compete for the World Series the way they been hitting and playing all year. Burnes matz and another really good number 2 or 3 pitcher would be enough to get it done imo. Shocked u didn’t make a single move🤷🏽‍♂️love the draft tho I was let down with Marino potential a bit but he’s still a great bat already and if he becomes an 85 overall in a few years that’s a great pick and great player. I miss the As Franchise honestly 😭. Too easy of a rebuild in my opinion. I get why Cane did it tho. Switch it up from being the worst team to a mid team. At least play on Legend/Legend. I'm in the ALDS with the White Sox going to game 5 using the same settings but Legend/Legend. I could be in the minority here, but I just like watching the grind. Means nothing beating a game if it's not on the hardest level.

pro players struggle on legend even with PCIs and max rated players, it wont be a good viewing experience with this regressing rotation

Putting it on that difficulty is more to compensate for user skill than anything else
