Noooo high tide and mana tithe? Absolute sacrilege for them to cut those. High tide is cracked and totally deserves to be in vintage cube. I’m glad you’re back on here creating Caleb, I love your magic content.
"It's fine, it's perfect. We have ancestral." is basically the motto of all my cube drafts. Building a perfect mono white aggro deck and then open AR in Pack 3? Looks like I'm a 2 color deck now.
Always exited to see a new video. Your cube play style is very similar to how I like to build decks for Commander by now. Love the "out of the box " I play it because I like it, not because it's good attitude. You also inspired me to build my own vintage cube Love the content too
I think the issue with high tide and all the other mana doubling effects you loved is that they're very 1 dimensional cards that only fit in storm. Pretty much all the storm enabling cards in this cube can be used in other decks instead of going last pick like was common before. Besides, underworld breach storm seems so easy to set up now I'm not sure you need 40 dedicated cards to storm off.
I do agree that high tide is mostly a storm card, but so is cabal ritual, and cabal ritual is much worse than high tide. There are quite a few "narrow storm cards" that are significantly worse than high tide specifically. There are also lots of narrow archetype cards for other archetypes too. We don't cut workshop just because it only goes in the artifact deck for example. If you're gonna add an archetype into the cube, you need to support it. I guess I'm just sad seeing what was a great diversity of possible archetypes turn into almost exclusively breach combo.
@@CalebGannon Cabal rit ramps comfortably into citadel which is way stronger and faster than high tide. It does this while also just being an all around decent ritual for all the other variants of storm in the cube. High tide was a very very specific subset of storm and didn’t mesh well with a lot of what the storm archetype had to offer.
yeah its basically just u:add 5+ mana, there's a lot you can do with that. (and with time spiral it could easily add 11+ mana, which is plenty to cast an eldrazi).
Agree with caleb on this one. As a side rant I do feel certain colors should have or not have access to certain things, and giving white a force spike is one of those haha. I mean it's why it works but yeah. I wonder if even after taking workshop if you pivoted and took the best cards and open lane rather than exclusively artifacts. Who knows, but like Chandra and nissa you got both are good build arounds!
Awesome deck! I noticed at 56:00, bouncing Walking Ballista with spellbomb instead of Guardian Scalelord would have allowed you to replay ballista as a 6/6 and kill the scalelord, while keeping your ballista. Not that it mattered once you went off with jewel.
The first time i saw key i just assumed they must've added time vault for some reason and drafted it early several times in the hopes that a (non-existant) time vault would come around to me.
At the 30 min mark you had infinite mana with displacer everflowing, and mox opal and mana crypt, then you flicker the jewel at the end for 3 cards and win from there
Hey, put a little more respect on Zirda. It goes infinite with both monoliths, makes retrofitted insane, and is actually fairly easy to companion. The monoliths also add exactly enough mana to put zirda in hand, making both monoiths essentially one card infinite mana sources. Zirda is good in the right decks, like high tide it's quite narrow in that it only really works in one deck, but when you're playing the deck for it it's insane.
The pain I felt when I saw Shirokai going to the side board. I'm so biased towards that card 😂 It's my favourite card in Vintage Cube outside of White Plume Adventurer.
Otharri is definitely not a bad card but with all the amazing red 3 and 4 drops that exist now, it’s hard to justify taking a 5 drop highly One thing worth noting is that if they can just block the first rebel, then they can kill otharri with no issues if the rebel trades that’s a nice little 2 for 1, but 5 mana for a nice little 2 for 1 is not ideal There’s just a lot of realistic game states where otharri is not great just good
i never play the cube myself only watch videos, but this iteration of vintage cube does seem a bit less exciting than some previous ones or am i wrong? there seem to be so many self sufficient 2 and 3 drops in white and red which are their own engines.
If they came out and said that, I would accept it. But I would suspect it was because people thought it was too weak. I've spent the last 5+ years having to explain myself every single time I take mana tithe as to how it is a playable card, even though I won almost all of those games people always thought I was meme-ing when I took it.
Shorykai doesn’t seem all that good idk, to be fair I’ve never played it lol, it just seems so durdly and 2 color pips unlike many other good expensive cards for you artifact deck
I agree that people undervalue othari, but I do think your argument for it misses the fact that while good, there are a lot of cards that win the game by themselves if not immediately answered that are cheaper. Like, ocelot pride can win a game on turn one if you can't interact quickly. Othari is great, but the best red white decks have won before you have 5 mana.
@CalebGannon tbh that would be fair even if you hadn't taken some time away from magic. I've been playing this whole time and every time I lose to a turn one ocelot pride it still feels wrong.
The 3 years of Cube Data Analysis Video is still the best video out there to help people draft and build their own cube
My favourite is the mana fixing tier list xD
Noooo high tide and mana tithe? Absolute sacrilege for them to cut those. High tide is cracked and totally deserves to be in vintage cube.
I’m glad you’re back on here creating Caleb, I love your magic content.
I’m thumbnail famous! GGs, was a fun match
That deck was brutal lol
I drink my coffee to these. Glad you're back.
I drink my coffee with your mom.
Calab i lost you in the algorithm for 2 years.. don't stop your an amazing person and your drops really make my day
one of most epic brew in vintage cube by you caleb, lot of fun watching this
When Caleb takes a 6 mana artifact over Strip Mine you know you're in for a treat
"It's fine, it's perfect. We have ancestral." is basically the motto of all my cube drafts. Building a perfect mono white aggro deck and then open AR in Pack 3? Looks like I'm a 2 color deck now.
I love your positivity :) a super fun watch
Indeed a wild draft. I gotta wait to watch the games but excited, I am
That 83% winrate is why they cut mana tithe. Lol it was too good.
Always exited to see a new video.

I used to make UG high tide decks all the time and cast huge eldrazis and stuff, its more just a combo card

Cutting out high tide from the cube is insanity.
Hyped these are back!!!! Love a first pick workshop
This series was hilarious!
Awesome deck!

yes, I definitely agree. I think that's just the direction modern magic is heading towards unfortunately
good news - mana tithe is back :)
You do love the mana tithe! How do you calculate the win rate of a card and what data do you look at to determine it?
th-cam.com/video/b4gUJInQi2Q/w-d-xo.html
Mana tithe was the grand equalizer to insane turn 1s.
Sucks that they banned it.
Wait first opp had a mox, lotus and ancestral? what the fuck?
That was me, sadly I didn’t trophy because I got steamrolled by Show and Tell round one
Mana tide will be back
if Mana Tithe had a 80% win rate, doesnt that mean its too strong for the cube? Maybe thats why it got removed
If they came out and said that, I would accept it. But I would suspect it was because people thought it was too weak. I've spent the last 5+ years having to explain myself every single time I take mana tithe as to how it is a playable card, even though I won almost all of those games people always thought I was meme-ing when I took it.
P1p1 workshop always ends in disappointment
ggs❤

Yeah that's true. I guess my brain hasn't adjusted to how much power creep has happened in the last few years
@CalebGannon tbh that would be fair even if you hadn't taken some time away from magic. I've been playing this whole time and every time I lose to a turn one ocelot pride it still feels wrong.
if the thumbnail is true,it's fucking wild. I have NEVER Seen a draw in mtgo :O
cut mutt over shoryukai, shoryukai is so gas in this deck. mutt is poop
Easily my least favorite version of vintage cube.
Mine too. Not enough storm
