  • In the early days of Facebook, employees were expected to become literal "friends" with their coworkers. How does this square with the idea that the company is a professional organization where low performers will be cut?

    Philip Su is an engineering leader with experience at Microsoft, Facebook (Meta), and OpenAI.
    Philip joined Microsoft in 1998 and was rapidly promoted to Principal Group Manager. He joined Facebook in 2010 as one of the first engineers in the Seattle office. He became the Director of Engineering of the Facebook London office and famously bought the entire company (20,000+ employees) free coffee on his last day.
