    NVIDIA GTX 980
    Core i5 4690K

    Complains about power supply cables not being black although they're out of view. Continues to install a white and blue CPU cooler clearly visible through the ventilation grill messing up the complete black look.

      Daan, I have been playing with assembly on PCPartspicker and two out of the three completed projects use 58mm coolers. Though the Thermalright AXP-100 does work the guy said he had to remove two rearmost fan screws for clearance. Problem is the coolers that are 56mm or less (Noctua NH L9i) are rated for a max TDP of 65w. The newer k series chips are all 91w. Couple that with no air intake for the CPU chamber and you may have issues with throttling an overclocked i5 or i7. ca.pcpartpicker.com/builds/by_part/fractal-design-case-fdcanode202bk

      +IRQ1Conflict You should check out the CRYORIG C7, witch is 47 mm in height and rated at 100W TDP! There is also a vent right over the CPU, so the cooler gets to suck in fresh air! Might not be ideal for OC, but at stock voltage would be just fine.

    The reason the top vent has no dust filter is simply because it is ment to be an Exhaust. When standing upright ( Hot air Rises ) the 2 bottom fans are ment for intakes , hence dust filters over intake vents, do a Positive presure configuration and with the amount of air belowing out the top of the case no dust will go in. When PC is turned off, just cover it :)

    • @phillycheesetake
      @phillycheesetake 9 ปีที่แล้ว +54

      ***** You are joking, aren't you?
      Have you ever built an ITX system? If you had, you'd know that the vast majority of ITX motherboards don't even have USB3.0 headers.
      Of the boards which do, I know of NONE which have more than one. And USB2.0 headers are disappearing fast from ITX boards.
      If you're the sort of person who finds themselves running out of front USB ports, then stop plugging your mouse and keyboard into them. Plug them into the 2.0 ports on the back, like everyone else.

    • @LoftySkinner
      @LoftySkinner 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The front ports are obviously for gamepads (ESPECIALLY on something built to resemble a console) and both my m-ITX motherboards have both a USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 header.

    • @LoftySkinner
      @LoftySkinner 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      *****
      Actually, I lied, my P8Z77-I Deluxe W/D have two USB 2.0 headers onboard in addition to USB 3.0 header, and if you're not dense that's the price class you stick to when buying a motherboard for a gaming system, and no motherboard that expensive will ever have any less than two headers.

    • @phillycheesetake
      @phillycheesetake 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      *****
      "and both my m-ITX motherboards have both a USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 header"
      Well OK, good for you, but that isn't really relevant. I just explained to you the direction mITX boards are going, they're providing less headers to save space for stuff like better power delivery systems, or better dedicated audio, shit people actually want.
      I'm old enough to remember console gaming before internal storage, and no wireless controllers. To me, the front of a console means input of data. I was rarely unplugging controllers, but I was swapping discs and memory cards. So no, I don't agree that populating the high-bandwidth ports with low-bandwidth devices is the best thing to do.

    • @LoftySkinner
      @LoftySkinner 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** The ASUS ITX motherboards with the VRM daughterboards are too popular, they won't go anywhere. Hell, the P8Z77-I Deluxe's 10-phase VRM is one of the best for overclocking on the entire Z77 platform *regardless* of form factor. And even on Z97 (most recent) ASUS has two of these boards, while AsRock still managed to fit 2x USB 2.0 and 1x 3.0 on theirs even without a daughterboard.
      If you're cheaping out, sure, you'll get less features, but the ITX form factor is the one place you should always be spending top dollar.

    I like this case, it looks sleek and comes with a power supply, very nice. However I still believe that optical drives are relevant especially for a living room TV build. I'm using an RVZ01 which supports a slim slot-load blu-ray drive (although it's ridiculously expensive at $129). The RVZ01 also has an additional spot for an internal 3.5" hard drive. This Node 202 is very similar in layout, but is actually short on some features in comparison.
    I'm considering doing a build with an RVZ02 next.

  • @Ultranist
    @Ultranist 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

  • @born2fragothers
    @born2fragothers 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I personally don't think that the lack of a 3.5" spot is a minus. Considering 2"5 laptop HDDs exist you could easily put in an SSD and an HDD.
    The lack of an option of a case with a window side panel is not exactly a bad thing. If you want to expose the hardware inside you have to consider that you can only see the back side of the GPU.
    It's a good case and a good option for those looking for a small form factor build.

  • @Pyroteq
    @Pyroteq 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Man, this case looks absolutely perfect from the outside for an HTPC but very disappointing inside.
    No 3.5" bay rules out any affordable storage options and the lack of an optical drive means it can't replace a console or BluRay player in a home theatre. It definitely looks like they could have made some adjustments to fit in a 3.5" HDD considering the amount of wasted space.
    Huge missed opportunity considering the RVZ01 is only slightly bigger and has BOTH 3.5" AND the slim optical drive making it the clear winner as a media PC.
    Despite what others in the comments are saying, 3.5" HDD's are much more common and affordable than 2.5" drives and offer more storage and not everyone has access to amazing internet to be able to stream movies on Netflix, plus BluRay offers the best quality picture and sound so saying no one uses discs any more isn't true at all.
    Yes, SSD's are getting cheaper but most people building an HTPC want to use cheaper parts and spare parts, not buy more expensive parts.

    • @DaddySizeIt
      @DaddySizeIt 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +KyleJPie10 that's exactly why I've been looking at this case. There are almost no attractive desktop style cases anymore. With me moving to a standing desk, it just makes more sense from a cabling perspective than going from a tower on the floor. Not to mention your USB/audio ports are right there and less dust when you're off the floor. My desk isn't small and has no free space at all, 3 LCDs, 2 mice, Steelseries QCK Heavy, laptop+dock.
      My only option is a NUC or something like this set horizontally. In my research so far: yes- this case is sturdy enough for a LCD on top. My 27" ASUS VS278Q-P is about 11lbs and I think that's average. Won't be a problem for this case. The stand shouldn't cover much of the CPU intake. I'm waiting for the new GPUs but this is similar to what I'll end up with pcpartpicker.com/p/b6xmYJ

    • @Sogogox
      @Sogogox 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's a console killer in a sense of portabillity. If you are travelling out of town to lets say college, you can stuff this machine in your bag/case with no problem. It is a bit wider than a ps4, but the height is the same. Its not perfect cuz you still need peripherals instead of a tiny controller but it's atleast a possibility now. You can't stuff a mid tower in your case, can you? :)

    • @chankim6203
      @chankim6203 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sogogox but for portability aren't laptops meant for that?

    • @Sogogox
      @Sogogox 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think u missed the fact that this case is a full regular PC. You can fit a powerful graphics card there with a powerful cpu and when something, anything fucks up you can just replace it. The whole package also comes really cheap, you can build quite a powerful pc for 800$ and when something breaks, its a breeze to fix it. You gonna pay a fortune for a gaming laptop and when something fucks up with the laptop after your warranty is gone, youre done. Also you cannot really control laptops notorious heating, even with a cooling pad it still goes way way higher than this pc case. Its just superb compared to a laptop.

    • @Sogogox
      @Sogogox 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Think of it just as a console, you put a pc together for 800$ for games and you buy a cheap 10 inch laptop for 100-150 $ and youre golden.

    • @stevern94
      @stevern94 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chan Kim a laptop is about 1.5x the price of the same performance desktop so to spend the 1.0x on a desktop and .5x on a laptop is always a better idea. Also, if you bring your laptop to the campus, you most likely won't be playing games anyway so no point buying a gaming laptop.
      And remember that you can always upgrade a desktop but you can't upgrade a laptop gpu.

    I feel like this case is designed for people who want to build a "steam machine" or "console" styled PC. I could see myself getting a bunch of these to build somewhat decent, midrange systems as steam machines (but with windows that immediately boots into bpm) and selling them at a $250-300 premium/profit.
    I'm thinking an i5 6400 (w/ stock intel cooler),
    GTX 960 (reference or aftermarket blower cooling),
    240GB 2.5" SSD,
    1TB HDD (2.5", so @ 5400rpm unfortunately),
    Windows 7, 8.1, 10 (dependent on the desire of who is buying the system),
    2 x 4GB DDR4 @ 2133Mz,
    H170 ITX motherboard. (with mini PCIe),
    mini PCIe intel WiFi card,
    Xbox One controller w/ wireless adapter
    Cooler Master Storm Devastator keyboard/mouse combo
    This would be a killer Windows "steam machine" for someone who is used to consoles, not wanting to upgrade.

    For the people complaining about the limited two USB ports, you can always use an external power USB HUB. As for the 3.5 HDD it's unfortunate but if you get a motherboard wich supports e-sata you can just connect an external one, which will ruin the aesthetics but there you go.

    When everything fits in an ITX build its great but when its a couple of cm off from perfection boy oh boy does it cause dramas!
    I encountered a huge clash when rebuilding my Silverstone Fortress FT03 Mini today with a new Silverstone SFX 500w PSU, the PSU was FAR bigger than the 300w & 450w SFX models and I had to take out my optical, 3.5" and SSD caddy (luckily I don't use the optical slot) and then mount a single SSD to the bottom of the case with the spare HDD caddy
    Also had to settle with a single fan 960GTX GPU because of the 10" card limit, a lot were 1-2cm over that and I didn't want to risk it :(

    I've been an avid fan of itx cases for a long time mainly due to the fact I hate laptops so bad unless you have like 3k to churn on ofc. NODE 202 is a competitive case for the RVZ01. NODE 202 is
    smaller, seems easier to build in and manage, the logo disorientation is bad(they could have made it like RVZ01), dust filter at psu, no 3.5' bay. It looks sweet to but to my dismay only the logo wil prevent me from buying this. Oh well
