“We framed some meat??!” Omg, I’m so glad I introduced you to iron-on interfacing, it definitely helped with those loops! Real talk, after our mega-27-hours-of-embroidery challenge - what do you reckon is more time consuming, hand-embroidering or needle punch?
Seriously! the interfacing was a god send. and and and... definitely hand embroidery takes the longest for me. The white skull with the flowers coming up took me about 4 hours to punch needle, where if I hand stitched something that size it would take 10 - 12 hours...
Is fantastic see u both here below. U know this is not new and is a millenary technique? That "pen" is not new. Is called Russian or Chinese embroidery. Love u guys!
I love that you showed the difficulties with it too! Like, I've seen so many videos addressing the punch needle but people either act like it's the easiest thing in the world or give up in the first two minutes-nice to see some transparency in your process. Also that ground beef is looking hella fresh. I'm a fiber artist, and I always thought this tool was a bit gimmicky, but it's awesome the things you were able to make with it!
Thanks s'much!:) Yah I was originally just going to show how to do it.. but when its was such a pain in muh asss I figured seeing the struggle would save you guys some heartache! Also, I love that you're a fiver artist!!
Daw, thanks man! And ya, it's super cool to see the more practical uses for embroidery-you're quite good at it! If you ever wanna do some weird, experimental embroidery stuff I would love to have someone to collab with (also because I really appreciate your style and all the fucking hard work you put into these diy videos, like bravo). My ig is nikka_wolfen ✨
it's easy to learn, takes time and patience, consider that the material/fabric used needs to have a tight weave(or when you punch it your loops may not stay in and the needle may tear the material), and you'll need a lot of embroidery floss, and bandaids if not careful
Thank you. I'm a noob at this and struggled just to get the stitches to stay even after watching several videos. Your video was by far the most helpful with the close ups n diagrams. I finally managed to do an outline!
I got the punch needle free for buying dozens of thread. The lady showed me how to use it and I was like - wide eye - wow that little pen is going to solve all my life problems. With very high expectation I was very disappointed haha.... I can't stop the loops from coming off. Thanks for showing the struggle and the end product!
I'm so stoked on your channel, especially all your embroidery videos. I stitch patches by hand so your vids definitely inspire and give me some greats tips. keep going all the way man
Ok........... I’ve been trying to look for a helpful, creative video about these punch needles because they have been everywhere! But every “tutorial” I’ve seen, has been someone trying it out seeing that “it doesn’t work” and they just give up. It’s been so frustrating because I’ve been wanting to pick this up as a new hobby. UNTIL NOW. This Video means so much too me like that might sound like an exaggeration but DAMN do I love this video. I got extremely excited when this video took a turn for the better. Seriously, thank you so much. You are my FAVORITE DIY channel! As a male viewer, I’m sick of all these DIYers being nothing but girly girls making things with flowers. This is a breath of fresh air GODDAMN AM I EXCITED!
It’s the little loop side on the back that is actually your finished side, not the flat part. I’ve been doing this since the 80s I did one of my cat, then painted the flat side with pva then I fluffed up the looped side and it was very like my cat. I started writing this when you were doing the flat side, I think you did well on both. I would use iron on interfacing now if I was doing something, not as messy as pva! I’m thinking of doing a cushion cover, so it will definitely be interfacing!
Shmoxd lol I’m sure you could do one no problem lol. I want to do my four dogs but two are golden and two are white lol at least the cat was different colours!!!
I wish I'd looked at your video before I bought my punch needle. Thanks SO much for your clear simple explanation. I'm really good with this stuff usually and for the life of me I could not work out how to keep the stitches in once sewn. I kept losing everything I did. You saved my sanity! I love the idea of using the iron on to seal it. Still going back to old school for my sanity but I really, really appreciate your video.
This video gave me hope! I ordered the pen going in blind and couldn't get it to work. The beginning of this video was everything I had just gone through! Thank you for figuring it out and helping. :D
just some FYI, Weaver's Cloth is best for punch needle because of the tight weave, it helps hold the thread, you want your punches to be very close together and the most important of all. In punch needle you are working from the back, the loops are the front of the piece. That's why you can adjust the punch needle, to make longer loops for effect.
Shmoxd I don’t think you cheated, you were just smart on keeping it in place and punching with the holes in a certain direction. question, compared to normal embroidery, did the second piece take longer or shorter for you with the punching tool?
I hope this comment can help some people who have questions. I have this same Cameo Punch Needle set. It comes with 3 needles a small, a medium and a large. The extra spring is used specifically for the largest needle only and the spring that is in the blue part comes out and has a narrowed end and it is used for the medium and small needles. You have to have the springs for it to work correctly. The needle sizes are for working with different threads and thicknesses. It is a big deal to be sure to use the correct thread with the right sized needle in order for the thread to move smoothly through. If the thread is to tight in the needle your stitches will pull out. I bought mine off of Etsy and you can even purchase a extra fine needle for single thread and intricate stitching. It is also a BIG deal to use the correct type of fabric. If you try to use plain cotton the stitches will pull out and the needle will cut the fabric because the fibers are not woven tightly enough to hold the stitches, I learned this the hard way. You can use linen fabric but I would advise using a iron on interfacing to make it durable. I have seen in other tutorial videos that you can use a 60/40 cotton polyester blend fabric also but I haven't tried it yet. Also, you work on the back side of the fabric, I have done work on the front using the lowest height setting and it gives it a neat look. My advice it to watch lots of videos first and then to just go for it. You'll never learn without trying. There is also several other names it goes by such as Russian punch needle and thread painting. There is also a beautiful way to do it called Bunka Shishu. It is the Japanese way that uses satin stitch and silk thread. I still am working up to try that one but using 2 strands of regular embroidery floss so I can wash it. Oh yeah, you can make items to be washable by painting on permanent washable fabric glue to the wrong side of the work. This is why I bought the set because I want to make embroidered center panels for quilts. Thats my idea anyway. I hope the novel long comment helps someone.
Annika Victoria made a video about this pen a few weeks ago. It’s actually not really meant for needlepointing and to make it work you need to use a tighter weave cloth.
I found your videos tonight while learning how to make paper. Now I've been binge watching your content for hours while crafting. Thank you the inspiration!
That's actually not meant for flat embroidering. It's a special kind of tool that's designed to make those loops and you have to use a special kind of fabric that has a very tight knit.
Thank you so much😩🙌🏻 I’ve had a punch needle for a while and was struggling so much and all tutorials I watched made it hard to understand. This was so incredibly helpful!!!
Hey Shmoxd! I bought myself a tool off eBay and was afraid I’d have problems but wow is it easy! And it’s gonna save me so much embroidering time. Thanks for your videos! You’re an awesome TH-camr DIYer

MishasPickle One might say I was doomed from the get-go, But those same people assume, 'cause they'll never know, What it's like to be called to what's not set in stone,I am one with the ebb and flow, that's all I know
Oh my god😂 I watched Anika Victorias video on this and she was rather confused by it and ended up doing the traditional punch needle thing, but this is a cool way to do it as it is advertised!!! It looks fabulous!
“We framed some meat??!” Omg, I’m so glad I introduced you to iron-on interfacing, it definitely helped with those loops! Real talk, after our mega-27-hours-of-embroidery challenge - what do you reckon is more time consuming, hand-embroidering or needle punch?

We love legends supporting legends
Is fantastic see u both here below. U know this is not new and is a millenary technique? That "pen" is not new. Is called Russian or Chinese embroidery. Love u guys!
With punch needling like this the loops are actually the front! It's supposed to be sort of like a carpeted texture instead of traditional embroidery.
I love this channel because it shows that men can be crafty and creative and do DIYs and it’s not “weird”
not tooooo weird at least;)
I thought the title was 'How to punch a needle' and I was very confused for a second.
Teach that needle who's boss
Me vs needle....
same here that sounded painful
😂👌🏼
Jalen Troi and yet you clicked
That intro never gets old
Mikayla Snow hey! It’s you!!! Overjoyed to see you here haha
I might need to update some dance moves... I’ve been practicing
Ikr!!
it reminds me of broad city
I actually always skip it bc it's too long, sorry
Nice little animation you did there of the needle! Also, love the idea of putting your embroidery into a frame! Super neat!
Thanks so much:):) it was pretty fun to make that animation
That animation was sexy. And the framed meat looked turned out way nicer than I expected!
[🥩]
*oH cOOl You FRamEd sOMe MeaT*
LMAO
🥩 .... beautiful .
I fucking lost it
Alex is it organic?
Ben Brian Fernandez it's vegetarian
I bet it's GMO free as well
I love how your roommates reaction to what they thought was *framed meat* was "oh, cool"
haha me too.. and now I want to frame some meat.. just for fun.
@@Shmoxd frame some, then put it in the freezer as freezer decoration.
i felt like you weren’t liking the punch needle at first but then you made the All The Way sign and my jaw DROPPED
Hahah yah I’m loving it... I have so many projects I want to do with it now
I like how you kept the parts of the video where it wasnt working in the beginning. It made it a real experience
i really enjoyed the illustration that was in the video on how to thread it ... it gave it more of a different feel, you know?
Justin Yuen Yes same
I love that you showed the difficulties with it too! Like, I've seen so many videos addressing the punch needle but people either act like it's the easiest thing in the world or give up in the first two minutes-nice to see some transparency in your process.

I love the "All the way" piece!! This makes me want to get my hands on a punch needle tool, haha
You ought to!:) your review on it would be rad!
CHEZLIN OML I LOVE UR VIDS I DIDN'T EXPECT TO SEE U HERE
it's easy to learn, takes time and patience, consider that the material/fabric used needs to have a tight weave(or when you punch it your loops may not stay in and the needle may tear the material), and you'll need a lot of embroidery floss, and bandaids if not careful
Give this man an award for writing everything he said on the description box.
The loop side is the front. You can make some kick ass patches using this method.
kristal burns he knows. Mentioned in the video
I quit.
Hahah love you guys
Can I ask why it's the front? The other side seems to look better imo.
its just the style of punch needle! to make awesome 3-D rug-like textured works versus regular flat embroidery.
Thank you. I'm a noob at this and struggled just to get the stitches to stay even after watching several videos. Your video was by far the most helpful with the close ups n diagrams. I finally managed to do an outline!
anyone else catch the instrumental of BLEACH by BH in the backround
cameron yessss. I got so excited
lowkey was singing it
cameron YEAH
cameron was about to comment that
Hell yeah
I got the punch needle free for buying dozens of thread. The lady showed me how to use it and I was like - wide eye - wow that little pen is going to solve all my life problems. lmao im sure annika is fuming rn because she couldn't figure out how to do it the way that you got it to work
I feel like I cheated some how though...
Better needle quality maybe??
Shmoxd I don’t think you cheated, you were just smart on keeping it in place and punching with the holes in a certain direction.
question, compared to normal embroidery, did the second piece take longer or shorter for you with the punching tool?
This brand of needle Bryan got actually works a lot better! I had such an awful time with mine lol, I love what Bryan was able to do with this!
well she did real punch needle art??

Your voice is so soothing and nonchalant. I love it.
You should do a video on how to embroider. I’m doing pretty good for just beginning, but I wanna learn how to do shading and ombré with embroidery
You should check out the Video I did with Annika Victoria:)

LLA EHT YAWWWWWWWWWWWW
You don't post videos frequently but when you do they're the best and they're worth waiting for
you should try to make a bigger one in the style of the "all the way" one for like maybe a throw pillow, or a mat maybe, or a even coaster
ooooo a mat would be so rad!!
Your videos have such calming effect with music and soft voice and satisfying visuals
Annika Victoria made a video about this pen a few weeks ago. It’s actually not really meant for needlepointing and to make it work you need to use a tighter weave cloth.

Dude, you always have the best background music. As soon as I heard that record scratch around 4:30 I knew a Brockhampton instrumental was coming. Also, that freehand sketch of the skull and leaves was incredible, I'm so mad jealous of your artistic talent.
its so funny that your friend just accepted that you would frame meat like..... what kind of life do you live??
